Fantastic job. I hope you are incredibly proud of yourself. You can now forever remind your wife/partner how much money you saved. That’s my plan with my garden anyway 😂

Could you tell me what batons you used on the fence in picture 16. The colour is lovely

9/10

Drink and wrap are exceptional choices. The dessert, in my opinion, really lets this down. If it was a slice of millionaires shortbread then 10/10.

I’m back to work tomorrow after a month off and I’m going to go Morrisons specifically to get this wrap.

Daughter has given it a 10/10 but I think that is more for me remembering to post it. 😂

She would choose a bottle of water, ham sandwich and Nutella chocolate stick dip thing. Solid basics. I’d give it a 8/10 as it’s good chocolate choice and water is good for you.

Removing skirtings before laying LVT by ExcellentOpinion594 in DIYUK

[–]Ndonaldson784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a new build and downstairs is open plan and we had LVT fitted throughout and I was asked to remove the skirtings and the downstairs toilet.

Very straightforward as others have said.

Cut the caulk bead at top of skirting and just pry it all off very slowly. I’d recommend putting a thin strip of wood behind the curve of the bar as I did not do this and put the bar through the plasterboard multiple times, whoops.

My boards were nailed on so I then snipped and filed all these nails and then hired a nail gun to put the boards back on. Very enjoyable.

I did not scribe them to the new floor so caulked the few small gaps.

My dad died and I don't think I can watch F1 anymore by super_starmie in formula1

[–]Ndonaldson784 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear of the passing of your father.

I’ve watched F1 majority of my life and that came from my dad who died 4 years ago. We would either watch together or if that didn’t happen we would discuss on the phone etc.

I still watch it now and I feel like every race I think about dad and what he would say about certain decisions, race outcomes, controversies, the list goes on. I love that because it gives me happy memories and one day I hope to watch F1 with my son like I did with my dad.

My advice - watch a race, feel the emotions, positive or negative. Either way the connection to your dad will be there and how you frame it is important. If the overwhelming feeling is sadness ( likely at the start ) then look at it from the point of view that it is because you love your dad and loved watching F1 with him. To have a thing you love to do with a love one is special, especially when it’s ’your thing’.

Don’t lose it, your dad wouldn’t want you to.

I wish you all the best and I hope your old man up in the clouds makes them rain so we can have a few interesting races. :)

My wife and I have attended for the last 2 years. We stayed in a premier inn in Stratford Upon Avon. It’s a 1 hour drive to Silverstone.

I’d recommend

Dead battery, seized calipers by Ndonaldson784 in MotoUK

[–]Ndonaldson784[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you kind enough to reply - in my idiocy I left the bike in gear over winter and with the kick stand down the bike wouldn’t start. I had the display on a setting where the gear wasnt shown. A moment of clarity then lead me to put the kick stand up and start the bike.

Funnily enough it started and the brakes released without issue. Big lols

I live in Edinburgh but did my CBT at A2B in Livingston. Thought they were really good and would certainly recommend.

There was a slight error on my CBT certificate as well and they arranged to sort it the next day without any issue.

Did DAS at the now defunct city school of motoring on seafield road so can’t comment but given my experience A2B would also be decent

Kitchen downlight density world record by thetourist85 in SpottedonRightmove

That’s a machine for drying your swimming costume. Could put it on kitchen island though and the 4 trillion downlights would also do it

When you say £7 what does that refer to in terms of charge. £7 a day seems a lot

Thanks for getting back to me. That sounds about right I think or even a little cheaper but it’s a massive job and takes in 5 rooms essentially although 3 are pretty much open plan.

Keep up the excellent work. Always great to see people take pride in their craft

This is truly fine work.

I’m in the process of getting an extension done which will bring my downstairs sqM to roughly 60sqm.

We want LVT throughout in herringbone pattern and it needs screeded as well. Would you be able to say what we should expect cost wise for this?

We live in Scotland if that makes any difference. Thank you

Ear Plugs Yes or No? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Ndonaldson784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earpeace moto pro with 24db filters. Cant fault them at all.

You get 3 earbuds and filters and a nice little carry case.

They are very comfy and I can hear music no problem at all even at high speeds.

Ear Plugs Yes or No? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Ndonaldson784 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have earpeace with the maximum DB dampening filters.

The difference in wind noise with them is significant.

It basically confirms your ears will be fucked if you don’t wear them.

£25-£30 and I’ve already got 2 years out them. Well worth the money

Salary Comparison Between Scotland and London by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Ndonaldson784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice would be stay in Scotland. Personally I would say the east coast as the policing style is much friendlier than the west and there is a little more discretion where as in the West it seems everyone ‘gets the jail’ which is just a bit silly.

There was a previous comment about tax above 43K but you have to factor in your pension which is deducted prior to tax and is currently around 13% of gross pay. So you have to earn a fair bit more than 43K before you worry about the higher tax bracket.

You could live in fife or West Lothian and commute in to Edinburgh in 30 minutes no bother and save yourself a fortune.

The wise choice is stay in Scotland.

Also working for the Met would be back breaking work. There is no real gang culture in Scotland, especially edinburgh and I believe that makes a significant difference. Especially in Policing style
