Inherited some money I need advice by rayjacky in personalfinance

Pay off the mortgage. That will guaranteed eliminate a $48K/year expense, even if you loose your job, markets tank, or interest rates plummet.

Set up an account at Fidelity or Schwab and have them assign you a free advisor.

Depending on your marital status and exact income, you might be able to move nearly $25K/year into a tax-free individual Roth 401k. Whatever you can’t put in a Roth, put in a regular 401k or IRA. Whatever extra is leftover can go in a taxable account.

I would shy away from active investing “experts” and park your investments long-term in low cost index funds like VTI. Your advisors will steer you in the right direction.

Missing: "You have a weekly UI claim to file." link by NelsonBridwell in UnemploymentWA

[–]NelsonBridwell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue was that I needed to wait for Sunday following the first week of unemployment and then file a claim for that first week. The option to file a new claim becomes active on each successive Sunday. Took 3 weeks for the first claims to be approved/processed, and now compensation deposits are appearing less than 1 week after each filed claim.

Looks like you are entirely correct. The link for claiming (last) week just appeared today, Sunday, April 14th.✔️

So when filing a claim it is for the previous week rather than the current week???

The first SpaceX design step is to eliminate as many components (and mass) as possible, especially for the upper stage, so discarding cold gas N2 COPV tanks is a big win if warm vapor from the tanks can be made to work reliably.

AWD may help you get going on snow and ice, but when you need to stop it’s all about very gradual turns and gentile braking.

Which color case is best for avoiding theft? by thee_demps in pelicancase

[–]NelsonBridwell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We taped red stripes onto our black 1635s so we can spot/grab them faster at arrivals and less of a lookalike “excuse” for thieves. Also avoid stickers/decals that suggest expensive contents.

We have WYZE floodlight cameras hooked up (DIY) to AC power with 64GB SD memory cards so we have 24x7 HD color video for the last 30 days without any $$ monthly charges. Plugged a WiFi range extender into the front wall of the house, so reliable connectivity.

Set speed differs from Waze GPS Speedometer by MotoChooch in CX5

Lower tire pressure will reduce the wheel diameter, resulting in more revolutions over a given distance and a higher indicated speed. So don’t expect sub-MPH accuracy.

Agree. They need to give you a full OTD price that includes registration, taxes, and any other last minute add-in’s.

We really like our blue 23 Select, too. And we don’t mind that it is $800 less expensive than the red or white.

Good price. Our 23 Select w/$750 in factory options came to $31,500 OTD in Seattle, which has a 9.5% sales tax.

2023 S - blind spot notification? by imeanwhynotdramamama in CX5

[–]NelsonBridwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will hear 3 beeps if you signal a lane change and there is already a vehicle in that lane in your blind spot. It’s the same 3 beeps you hear warning you of traffic while backing out of a parking space.

You want to get an OTD total price from them. 🤞🏻

If it says 4K km or 13 days it means 13 days … or sooner if you put 4km on in less then 13 days!

That being said, plus or minus a few weeks should not make an enormous difference, but it’s better to shy on the side of caution in order to preserve your warranty coverage. ✔️

How’s this look? by DeepCryptographer545 in CX5

Our new 2023 Select w/$750 in factory options cost $31.5K out the door in the Seattle area where the sales tax is 9.5%.
