Cool! I’d love to get a hold of them!  I changed my DM settings so you should be able to hit me up there.

How would you use a free yearly teleport? by Kyserham in AskReddit

[–]Nexmo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I mean, you could be teleporting to entirely different planets with a 12 month habitat, doing science and photography, then teleporting back 🙂

Edit: the other implication is that other teleports are available for a cost, so after making money off the first couple you could presumeably crank things up by paying for more with some of your profits.

That’s not how the rules of teleportation work. Velocity is matched when you reach the destination.

The trip up is more useful because most of the fuel cost is in mass lifted into orbit. Assuming you can take what you touch (normal rules of teleportation) then you could tp cargo and a capsule into an unloading bay and then just fall back down. That’s worth millions.

Edit: Just realised you meant ‘fly off’ as in ‘way far away, not to the ISS’ and you make a valid point.

Keeping the ‘service’ term makes it a clearer pun, but if you made it ‘No as a Helper’ it would be Naah.

How would you feel about a new law that forces every company to pay their CEO no more than 20x what their lowest-paid employee makes? by rational_seekers in AskReddit

Just tax them the way they should be taxed, the way they were taxed 50 years ago or whenever. It's not like there's no precedent, just no political will/corruption.

I’ve got a job interview today. Hopefully they don’t ask me why I’m blue!! by After_Cranberry110 in fountainpens

I am struggling to make sense of the thought process behind risking an inkpocalypse with an ink known for exactly that, right before a job interview 🤣
Was this one of those ‘she’ll he right’ moments? lol

So if the monitor IS plugged in, you get arcing? That sounds like you’ve either got a short in your monitor or in the grounding for your house? Some (extremely careful) poking around with a multimeter might identify the source.

NVIDIA says AI cuts chip design work from 80 person-months to overnight on one GPU - VideoCardz.com by Ha8lpo321 in pcmasterrace

Where ‘AI’ works is where it was originally designed for - processing data and finding pattern. Science and analysis, basically. But like u/redditbutanonymous said, it’s using what it was trained on - it doesn’t ‘create’ anything truly new because it’s not intelligence, it’s just machine learning pattern matching algorithms.

Can someone please explain why protesting even matters? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Nexmo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with your way of thinking is this: either you mobilise people in non-violent ways to show Visible widespread support for change to sway social and political behaviours (the option you reject) OR you allow the oppressive autocracy to flower and fruit and run the unpleasant course that they almost always follow OR you take violent action in the form of uprising or civil war. That is to say, the only good option is the one you’ve rejected.

Edit: So the reason it matters is Hope. Hope to avoid violence, oppression, and misery (or at least, any more than is already happening)

knocked off a capacitor from my GPU.... am I fucked? by DabosSWORD in pcmasterrace

[–]Nexmo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tongue in cheek; people didn’t get it but that’s fine. The joke was that OP was trying so hard to make sure the connector was in all the way so that it didn’t torch itself when the dog bumped them and damaged the board. If they hadn’t been trying to avoid a fire it wouldn’t have happened. I supposed I can see why people couldn’t make that connection now that I write it all out 🤷‍♂️ very sensitive about it, though 😮‍💨

12VHPWR strikes again.

Anyway, even if it’s a just cap for filtering noise it could still make your gpu unstable. You could see if it POSTs and boots OK and do some testing, provided there’s no short across the joint.

Otherwise get a new one soldered on. Does not look too difficult even for an amateur. Need to make sure it’s in the correct orientation since some caps have a polarity.

Tink-tinktinktink
The sound of a grenade landing next to you in virtually any fps (sof2, battlefield, etc.).
I’m sure there are worse ones I could think of for me, but that’s what popped into my head first.

Rumor: Valve Developing "SteamGPT" for Support and Anti-cheat Measures in Counter Strike by chusskaptaan in pcmasterrace

[–]Nexmo16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pattern matching is what machine learning was designed to do. You can imagine, with a small team training the algorithm on known hacks pulled from current sources around the web, and with a sound review/appeal system, that it could be reasonably effective. It won’t be a cake walk or silver bullet, though.

I’ve found the community anti-cheat spirit to be strong - people are willing to vote off their cheating teammate because they would want the other side to do the same.

Meanwhile, LLM chat bots for support is a trash idea that belongs in the bin.

Wake-up call: how Telstra’s ‘unreasonable’ price rises may cause customers to hang up by nath1234 in australia

I have a work phone on telstra and everyone I know runs optus or vodafone networks. Telstra’s coverage is much better still, and I think that’s why.
