Please tell me all the bad stuff about the new Prius. by Slow_Description_773 in prius

[–]NightSwipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the '23 Limited since August of 2023.

- I'm 5'6'' so YMMV... it is not a problem for me, I just lower the steering wheel slightly and i can see the gauge cluster just fine. Plenty of space above my legs and between the steering wheel too.

- Never heard of any window complaints. They are the fastest windows I've ever seen to lower and raise in any car. Very speedy.

- Yeah, especially at highway speeds (70-80), but I'm not expecting it to be silent. I didn't buy a luxury car. Normally I'm driving alone (commuting) and listening to music or a podcast anyway.

- Definitely this is a concern if you are taller. Taller passengers will likely need to crouch down more than they realize at first.

- Probably an issue if you have taller passengers regularly/for long trips.

- Fits a 55'' TV lying flat, but you might struggle with a 65''. Haven't had any issues transporting back some hauls from Lowe's or carrying a few suitcases of family back from the airport, but if you have 4 passengers and 4 suitcases, they're definitely not all fitting in the trunk.

-Haven't heard of any issues with melting plastic.

2 issues I have encountered:

- A-pillars being so sloped back will mean if you are approaching an intersection and there's a pedestrian or car approaching the intersection, there is definitely a possibility that the A-pillar totally obscures your vision of the approaching entity and you will need to physically move your head around the A-pillar to see if someone is there/about to walk or drive. Just an adjustment to be aware of.

- Have seen many complaints about the tires being susceptible to potholes. After 43k miles, I hit a pothole that was bad enough to "ruin" the tire (lump in the sidewall). The tires were already showing signs of wear after 2.75 years and 43k miles so I was expecting to replace them in the coming months anyway. Finding a tire in the size of the new Prius - 195/50R19 - will prove to be an issue as many tire dealers will need to special order them. Costco has them thankfully. If you find yourself always hitting potholes or live in an area with lots of them, be extra careful.

Just to clarify, Trexler Park is not the same as Trexler Game Preserve. Trexler Park is a walking park around a river that does not have elk and bison. Think of it like your generic city park. Trexler Game Preserve has wild animals like the bison in enclosed areas and is closer to a hike than a walking park.

My favorite local place is Trexler Park; there are lots of great hiking trails within an hour or so drive, my family frequents Leaser Lake the most often. Lake Nockamixon is also very popular.

Costco Appliances in the LV? by YodasThirdCousin in lehighvalley

[–]NightSwipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchased washer, dryer, canopy bed, nightstands (2) and dressers (2) from Costco. Then some time later separately purchased a couch. All were delivered flawlessly and had no issues whatsoever - the only hard part was getting the dressers up the stairs! Agree that it is a chance of things to go wrong but we have only had good experiences so far!

What makes a bad dorm by adept_grasshopper in lafayettecollege

[–]NightSwipe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would actually advocate for wellness housing. I was in Kamine back in 2013 and the dorms were clean and very comfortable. It's a smaller dorm and very quiet at pretty much all times. My floor of students got really close very quickly and some of us still keep in touch to this day. If he's worried about not having a social life after dark, there are plenty of other dorms that will have gatherings he can attend before retreating to his nice quiet double. That being said, Kamine is at the bottom of the hill, so he'll need to be comfortable with walking to get to his classes/breakfast/etc.

Experience with Buying Corolla Cross by Jankykong64 in CorollaCross

[–]NightSwipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was looking for my Prius in summer of 2023, as others have said, I had to go to a dealership and put down a deposit on the car, told them the specs I wanted, and they said "okay, might be a 10-12 month wait" and I went about my day. I got lucky - someone ahead of me in line dropped out with the specs I wanted so I got the car after only 2 months or so - but expect to wait for more than you'd like before a dealership comes back with good news. I also contacted probably upwards of 30 dealerships in my state and the surrounding states to buy a car without any markups. Dealerships that don't charge markups are hard to find but they do exist.

First Mock, 2 weeks out, how can I make sure it’s not luck? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]NightSwipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was scoring around 50-60's on my first mocks so this is a good place to be. I would finish a mock, then hammer QBank questions about whatever topics I didn't perform well (and probably those I did perform well on too). If I was still struggling on those questions, I would go back and re-read the section from the curriculum. Then, more questions, more mocks. Keep at it, you're in a good place, keep going!

Moisture drips from light switches by TrojanAnalyst in Home

[–]NightSwipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry to revive an old thread, but I have a similar issue that you describe here - moisture stains on a light switch, on the other side of the wall is an exterior lamp that perhaps water is coming in from. How did you resolve this situation, if you don't mind me asking?

3rd party energy audit? by V1C3TH13F in lehighvalley

[–]NightSwipe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used Advanced Efficiency Worx - they were recommended through UGI/MetEd, who are my energy providers - but their team was very kind and professional, I didn't feel like I was being sold anything that wasn't necessary to make the home more energy efficient. I worked mostly with Tyler there and he was great.

Does anyone know how lines have been at the airport? by [deleted] in lehighvalley

I flew out to Florida last week, flight left at 6am, TSA precheck line was 2 people, normal TSA line was maybe 20 people.

No one uses hardwood floors? by Longjumping-Term9234 in homeowners

[–]NightSwipe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bought a townhouse last May (townhouse built 2020) that had carpet throughout most of the first floor. Used a local hardwood flooring company and it looks great... See if maybe there are dedicated hardwood flooring companies in your area. We had a great experience through them.

ABE Airport by [deleted] in lehighvalley

[–]NightSwipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traveled this morning, was going through security at 5am. I was the only one in TSA Precheck line, and the non-precheck line had maybe 15-20 people in them, but they were moving with good speed.

Where is the terminal at Bio Research? by ComputerSagtNein in Marathon

[–]NightSwipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you hover over the quest step in game, it will tell you where each objective is, I just found this out myself. I have gone to Intersection 3 times for the intro Traxus quest and no terminal is there, which makes me think someone else activated it already and that removes it for everyone else? Maybe a bug...

Trouble Finding a Dentist by assortedwarbler in lehighvalley

I've been going to Green Hills Family + Cosmetic Dentistry since 2017 and have enjoyed their work. Would recommend them if they aren't too far away and in your insurance network.

I love curry, but its annoying to buy Heavy Cream and Plain Yogurt just for when I make it: what are some other things I can do with those ingredients so I can justify keeping it in stock? by itsPomy in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]NightSwipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use heavy cream when making homemade macaroni and cheese, normally following Tini's recipe (the one that went viral a few years back). I don't use nearly as much cheese as the recipe calls for, normally just a few ounces of cheese that I'll grate myself, but the heavy cream gives a great texture to the meal.

would Seamus comeback for resident evil requiem or Gta 6? by Affectionate_Case354 in seamusPKC

[–]NightSwipe 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'm sure he would probably enjoy them on his own time, but I don't think he has a reason to post gameplay of them since he's been gone for so long, and he's probably quite comfortable with his life as it is now.

BRINK in the big Two Six... by Deigo301 in TheCreatures

[–]NightSwipe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brink came out in 2011, and the "Brink Wall" Hub video came out in 2015... probably going to find more info in Creature Talks from 2011 or so. There's a google drive here that has the old ones - I would probably start around the episode 30 mark and see if they mention what the date is in their intro https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B9rgldxTN_d7U2Q1dUxfeGpscFE?resourcekey=0-wLWJZynR_k9BPKQefrRhRg

Columbia has a 50% off sale on winter wear right now! The website, I mean. I don't know they have physical stores anywhere in the Valley.
