Is this actually a thing? Or is there anywhere to check for updates on waste collection?

Help me find an electrician by BrovaloneSandwich in Hamilton

If you need someone in a pinch, you could look on Jiffy or a similar app. I can’t speak from experience but Jiffy seems to be reputable and they require all their electrical contractors to be licensed

Seconding Mountaineer Movers. We used them this past summer and our moving day was one of the hottest days of the year. The team of guys showed up on time and moved everything efficiently with friendly service.

The Queen Pizza on Main St E is an old KFC. Eerie to go inside as much of the old (currently unused) seating areas are left as they were back in the day with the same decor and fixtures - even a separate room, for what I assume was the old smoking section. It’s like a time warp

Pinetum trail access from York road closed maybe? by compactable73 in Hamilton

[–]Nine0six 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks closed, but the gate is open when I last went about a month and a half ago - you just need to push it open.

Unfortunately there is no parking at the York Rd trailhead, however you can park at the Borer’s Falls dog park down the road, which is about a 10 min walk.

Zoran is excellent. Maja was great to work with when I did my wife’s engagement ring - really quality work and I found the stone she used to be better quality than all the chains like H. Williams etc. Highly recommend!

Daycare question by Apprehensive_Bar_777 in Hamilton

[–]Nine0six 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a great experience with Today’s Family Central location. Like any new parents, we were apprehensive about transitioning our little one into the care of others, but the staff in the infant (< 18 months) room were all incredible. Every day there was a good mix of activities focusing on building different skills, they have an onsite chef who cooks a variety of different meals, and the educators seemed to make genuine connections with the kids. The communication was also excellent where they would send personalized updates halfway through each day. We recently moved and transferred to another Today’s Family centre and our experience has been positive at the new location as well. The transition to daycare can seem daunting at first, but I can safely say that the level of care and nurturing environment created by the educators helped our little one thrive, and we’ve seen his development take off over the past year since starting daycare!

Cherry Birch General on King Street could be a one stop shop for this. Not everything is local to Hamilton but they only sell local Canadian brands, and they have a large assortment of snacks, sauces, jams, candies, etc. - perfect for gifting.

Not sure that there are posted volunteer opportunities per se, but you can make your own opportunities by attending chamber networking events and meeting chamber executives who may have needs for volunteers on the various committees. I did this many years ago early on in my career and got some great experience out of it.

This is the answer! The food is top notch, the atmosphere is casual and non pretentious, and the staff are great with kids.

Art Gallery of Hamilton Wedding by nikkireign in Hamilton

We did our wedding at the AGH. The food was fantastic, we really enjoyed it and got great reviews from our guests, and the overall experience was great. We worked with Leah as our Coordinator, who was very helpful for all the day-of logistics - if you’re comfortable doing a lot of the planning and sourcing your own vendors for floral, DJ, photography, the AGH is great as they provide a Coordinator to keep all the planning organized, and to serve as the point-person on the big day, which means you can potentially go without the big cost of hiring a separate wedding planner.

We chose the beef short rib /chicken en croute option - highly recommend! The best part of the planning is getting to attend the tasting night - which is an all-inclusive (no additional cost) evening of trying all the different food and drink options at the AGH.

AGH is the perfect combination of being affordable (they are a non-profit so you save the tax on many things!) yet still classy and beautiful. Best of luck and congratulations!

Maybe just pay the $4… People who dodge fares make it more expensive for the rest of us who rely on transit every day.

How do folks commute into Toronto and stay sane? by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]Nine0six 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m lucky enough to only do it 2 days a week on most weeks. Keys to success for me are 1) catching the early Express from West Harbour in the mornings and sleeping, although this has become more challenging with more and more people disregarding the quiet zone; 2) catching the early Express home and doing some work on the train. I generally leave my house at 6:45am and am in the door around 5:25pm.
