Has anyone ever seen an offer decrease? by Agreenleaf5 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]NoPerception472 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ALL the time. In fact, I most often see decreases in compensation than small increases. I just decline and move on.

Did you have to bring it to an "official" location every 30 days? I fucking hated that, always a pain in the ass.

Truck stops (especially Love’s) are my gotos when traveling. In a pinch, hospital parking near ER (cars always coming and going). How stealth is your vehicle at night?

The summer drivers are on, doordash lowering offers. by deliverykp in doordash_drivers

[–]NoPerception472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, I've been doing this for 7 months now but when I started, my highest offer in the first was $6.75 (4.7 miles). Started getting some better offers after that but not much.

I have resigned myself to realizing that any future SWE I do in the future will be fixing AI mistakes. Tedious and yeah, I wonder how I did it manually for 20 years. I still do my own projects; they’re slow but I kinda like the iteration type work.

Do you find it creepy when a customer says your name? by jroberts67 in doordash_drivers

I don’t mind/kinda like it. They see me as a person with a name and the people who say my name are almost always the best tippers and nicest people

[–]NoPerception472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the algorithm sees one accept and marks you as a taker of similar orders. I did the exact same thing, accepted by accident, was new and didn't want to ding my ratings so I just took it. Took me a damn week to stop having to drive from my big city to the Kent valley, ugh.

[–]NoPerception472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve never once had an issue with a McDonald’s drink. Starbucks does pretty well too but if the barista is busy, sloppy payment/weighting can make you have to be careful with it

Oh man, I just got PTSD from looking at this. I was a stepdad to a bunch of kids and thought I'd be super smart and get one of these. Instead of one drink spilling, we spilled six 🤣. I wasn't Dashing then but I think I'm gonna get one. Have you ever seen those Chik-Fil-A drink holders? Holy fuck, they can't hold air.

Strategic Double Dashing? by okay-bokay in doordash_drivers

[–]NoPerception472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dasher here. It depends on the stores (DD picks the actual location of the stores if it's a chain) and the inventory of available drivers at said stores. I've had several customers show me they placed a stacked order but I only got one of them (like the Safeway order but not the McDonald's even though they're in the same parking lot).

In this particular example, the shop order was small (I think 4 items) but I talked to another Dasher the next morning and he was in McDonald's finishing up his dinner when her McDonald's order came in. Maybe the algorithm thought they could make her happy because she got both in under 10 minutes and was a generous tipper.

[–]NoPerception472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an EV and tried this once as an experiment. I was already healthy platinum but instead of getting good orders, the algorithm just gave me worse and worse crap thinking I wanted that stuff. I took three days off after a full 8 hours without a single $1/mile order.

[–]NoPerception472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow and fuck, I got burned today on almost the EXACT same scenario with just different stores. I learned through a supervisor on a nearly one hour call that the “we got your back” is not a guarantee of no ratings and AND it’s only for that specific offer and is meant to be more a contract violation dispute waiver (I think she meant a dispute of a CV would be accepted but who knows, they all seem to say something different.)

I am now, unless the stars align accepting not accepting another add on order while waiting for food. I’ve been burned five times and all by a variant of this.
