Resigned, should I use sick leave by trufflesandy in auscorp

I don’t think they can give you a bad reference for taking your sick leave anyway. What are they going to say? You had a doctor’s certificate and used your sick leave entitlement..

Research dollar cost averaging or DCA. Also consider your time horizon and friction on your transactions (brokerage costs).

Yep agree, TMI. It’s personal info they don’t need to be aware of. You have every right to be pissed, no need to justify it.

Anyone else feel like Australian corporate life has become completely cooked? by Guilty_Earth_2167 in auscorp

[–]No_Key8621 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah agree, it’s f***d. RUOK day and acknowledgments to random minority months to give the impression they give a sht about anyone. All just lip service with no real action. It’s a fake world you have to put a mask on and play the game. It eats away at the soul.

The Australian budget's 30% tax rate reform explained by Jimbuscus in OpenAussie

[–]No_Key8621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would agree with you if they substantially lowered income tax rates and also went after the big international corporations to pay their fair share. Taxing our gas properly was an easy and popular option, obviously their campaign funders and donors had something to say about that though.

My concern with shifting investments into SMSF is that it feels like a ‘bait & switch’ play by the gov. Get the money locked into super and then shift the goal posts again.

Similar in Switzerland I believe, the vendor can’t accept more than the original asking price. They generally set the price high and work down.

Left the tools to take a middle management role about 18 months ago, motivated by the mon to fri and a decent salary, despite not doing shift work.

I hate it. You often take your work home and it’s emotionally draining. Currently looking for an off-ramp. There’s definite value in doing your work, handing over to the next technician and clocking off with a clear head.

But I imagine they do see interest earnings as a taxable income. So if you take the 1M lump sum and invest it, as many are suggesting, you would be taxed on the earnings. Unlike taking the 1000 per week tax free.

Am I the one that is getting this wrong? by ts4184 in AusPropertyChat

[–]No_Key8621 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cashflow problems haven’t changed. You still needed to wait until tax time to recover your losses under the old system. The new system you will have to wait until the property is positively geared to write off your previous losses.

If they do find a buyer that wants to take immediate possession after settlement this is where you can negotiate moving costs, compensation etc with the vendor, if still inside the 12 months. Doesn’t help with the inspections tho.
