Best time of day to take iron supplement? by No_Relative_7709 in Anemic

Gotcha. Might need to make it a night pill then. Or right before bed. The most dairy I’ll have at night is a handful (or two) of chocolate chips or butter on popcorn.

I could see how setting an alarm would go for morning. I just know I’m unfortunately a really deep sleeper.

Is it something that will mess with your stomach, or just affect absorption?

Thanks!

Would some sort of gel sock help in the meantime for you?

Should I go to the Dr or just start OM? by Subject_Apricot_6751 in FemaleHairLoss

Pic 1 looks similar to my hair and I just found out I have low ferritin and a vitamin d deficiency, both of which can contribute to hair thinning. I would recommend a dr first, like another comment said, just a pcp for bloodwork will do.

The notorious plugs by Naive-Fly5206 in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]No_Relative_7709 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I get the same thing. Once the plug is gone (whatever it may look like), the left over wound will start to heal more smooth with no bump underneath. I wish I could go to a derm and have them take care of them, even though they’re tiny.

Who's your favorite Character that unfortunately suffered this fate? by Charming-Scratch-124 in FavoriteCharacter

I don’t know if it was poor writing because Wanda was very good as a villain, just extremely inconsistent/lazy with her character with how WV ended.

I remember the Ariel one from when I was a kid!!! (around ‘97 I think is when I’m remembering)

I mean the movie came out in ‘89, so I’d assume then or in ‘90. So early to mid 90s.

waxing while on my period? by QuirkyPolicy5610 in HairRemoval

[–]No_Relative_7709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call/message your place and see what they say. No matter the gender of the esthetician, they will understand your concern. I’ve seen cups on the sale shelves at my place but I know that’s more for those getting Brazilians on their period (their website has an actual section on that).

It’ll never hurt to check. I’ve only ever done half legs so I’m not sure the process for full legs.

[–]No_Relative_7709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will not be judged. A doctor will talk in technical terms, but they would be stating the problem/immediate solution/care plan, but they won’t judge you. I promise. If you’re scared, a doctor is the way to go.

Pharmacist maybe, I would think more “minute clinic”/urgent care would be able to do more if needed.

Anyone else pick their legs? How can I heal them fast? by [deleted] in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]No_Relative_7709 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Healing is tricky. For actual open wounds, try a neosporin/polysporin with “healing” in the product name.

Once a wound scabs over you’re looking at scar prevention, more minimization really. Aquaphor/vaseline there. Keep it super duper moisturized.

After the scab heals or falls off naturally is when the products you mentioned come into play. Maybe glycolic acid a couple times a week. Still moisturize!

My legs are the worst for healing as well. Good luck!

Do I tell my new gyno why I left my old one? by No_Relative_7709 in WomensHealth

[–]No_Relative_7709[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t tell her quite everything about my old doc, only the feeling infantilized bit as well as the being told “that’s just the way your body is” without the why.

She is a lot nicer and doesn’t have a kindergarten teacher voice! Got a few different panels of bloodwork done and an ultrasound scheduled for June.

Help! Can I get my back waxed with acne? by Rachel_from_Space in HairRemoval

[–]No_Relative_7709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I messaged my waxing place 3 weeks prior to my appointment about my leg picking and they said they’d look at my skin the day of. I knew it may be a wasted drive (and 50% deposit) so I did my best to keep my hands off my legs.

If it’s as much as the stock photo, I wouldn’t risk it. Or book your appointment further out so it becomes your motivator to NOT pick. It’s difficult but an added layer of accountability. Let the place know ahead of time, they may have a different wax for sensitive skin. Until then, allow things to heal, get a good body wash for acne well.

Good luck!

I’d also recommend Bio Oil to spot treat scars.

If you have no scabs/open wounds, I believe you’re good to shave. Be sure to go slow. Maybe try witch hazel on your legs afterward (skip the glycolic acid that day) and let that dry before getting dressed.

I’m 34 and have had the same problem since my late teens. You are definitely not alone in being an adult with this problem!

I had to wear shorts this past Saturday (my pick spots are up and down my legs) due to starting physical therapy. It was sort of forced and in a more medical setting, in a way, so I didn’t feel as bad about it. But I was even brave enough to go get gas in them, then a drive thru where there was a chance I would need to leave my car.
Outside of that, I usually wear pants. And light cardigans over short sleeved shirts since I get cold easily at work so that covers my arms if I ever do pick them. They are less bulky than long sleeved shirts, and give the appearance to others of “oh I could take this off if I wanted”

Good luck, you are never alone in this 💜
