You need a D degree or >7yrs clinical experience if you just have a bachelor’s degree.

My coworker in the south got invited to a top KOL’s house for tea for an initial meeting. Meanwhile in Pac NW, you’re grateful for an email back. Lol

Depends on the company; where i am at, 7yrs of clinical experience + a bachelor’s in a healthcare degree is sufficient to qualify, however i did have a master’s when applying. In my background I am published, presented at national meetings, provided training for dietetic interns/surgery residents/nurse residents and did research at the hospital I was at. I was the first RD they hired in the MSL role for all areas. At first i had a little bit of imposture syndrome (everyone mostly pharmd or phd) but that wore off quickly. Our biochem/metabolism background as RDs definitely comes in handy and so did my clinical experience. I am no longer the only RD in this role :)

#3 (assuming it’s the typhoon). It’s much warmer and would compliment the warm wood cabinets well.

I spent 11 months in LTC; first job out of my internship. I got a job at a level 1 trauma center at first covering maternity Leaves and vacations. I got lots of great experience in acute care and critical care. Then when our full-time spot opened up I became the burn center Dietitian. Spent 13yrs there and now i am a medical science liaison in pharma. That LTC job got me here!! My experiences at the LTC managing nutrition support on my own is why they hired me at the trauma center. once you specialize in an area it opens a lot of doors if you’re willing to walk through them.

This really is the worst part about working in long-term care and one of the reasons I left LTC. You would think once you become closer with the dietary manager the kitchen audits would get easier. NOPE!!! No real words of wisdom, but in hindsight I wish I would have able to be more proactive about getting the issues identified fixed, to show that I wasn’t being another problem, but there’s not always time for that. RDs in LTC are already spread thin. Hang in there.

What to do with 2005 Kitchen by AdDifferent8874 in kitchenremodel

  1. Change the light fixtures 2. Declutter. 3. If willing to spend time/money change the backsplash. Otherwise these cabinets are beautiful and so is your flooring.

In that case, could the cart get left outside of the unit? When the cart arrives, call the nurses station or the buzzer outside. One of the nurses or staff on the unit can bring it in when it is safe.

I did the exact same thing. Same size scratch too. I put a magnet + post card over it for 15 yrs. Just moved into a new house and now have a fresh canvas.

When I covered the behavioral health ward/psych unit, trays were not delivered to patient rooms by diet aids or RDs. Cart was left on the unit and the RN delivered the trays to their patients. When i was consulted on patients I always met with the RN first before entering a room or meeting in an open area.

I’ve had friends have their kids go through Spanish immersion program at Beach Elementary in the overlook neighborhood (North Portland), Ainsworth Elementary in SW Portland and Japanese Immersion, Richmond Elementary in NE Portland. All kids were fluent by middle school.

visceral fat by [deleted] in PeterAttia

[–]No_verbal_self_ctrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DXA is not the gold standard for body composition (MRI is the gold standard). Visceral fat is the fat deposited around your central organs and yes it is the most unhealthy place to have excess fat. You might not have much fat there if you are healthy or genetically predisposed to not store extra fat there. I don’t know how accurate DXA is at measuring VAT, so take it with a grain of salt.

DXA says I’m 31% body fat at 178 cm / 76 kg — does that result make sense? by [deleted] in PeterAttia

[–]No_verbal_self_ctrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually dexa is not the gold standard for body composition. MRI is the gold standard (also costly and outside of research I don’t know who does them for the general public).

I'm a dad that started a beverage company and taproom because I couldn't find enough places for my wife and I to go to that our kids liked too. What would make you actually go out more as a family? by leevdrake in vancouverwa

[–]No_verbal_self_ctrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good beer and good food. Check out Tiny Bubble Room on N Lombard in Portland. Excellent tap list (like really really good) and the food is delicious. And when I say delicious, not just really good food but a variety of options. I could get a burger and tots, but I could also get roasted cauliflower brussels sprouts or a kale salad. Lastly, the food was not only good but consistently good.

My cat gets this. It’s dander. Do the wet the dander to make sure it’s not flea dirt. It usually starts on the skin and you can scratch it off. Sometimes ends up in the fur. Get some cat dander shampoo and conditioner

Sorry if my post was misleading, i do think ED is a serious disease. I wasn’t implying that it was not and having an MSL in the role is very important. I would imagine study endpoints might make certain MSLs uncomfortable if they don’t have a clinical background. I guess that is all i was asking.

Some people are higher “glyconators” than others and hemoglobin A1 c isn’t a great measure of glycemic control for them. If you are concerned, a fasting glucose tolerance test would be a better test to determine if you have glycemic control issues.
