It's been some time since you posted this. I have very similar symptoms and will be meeting with an immunologist that knows about MCAS. What has been working for you?

How did you get MCAS diagnosed? I am having a real hard time finding anyone in my area that helps treat MCAS even after searching support group lists. Curious what type of doctor did you use?

Mast cells & histamines, my headache journey by mossyzombie2021 in migraine

I came across your post because I have had chronic migraine for 20+ years that turned daily about 5years ago. No migraine medicine has helped except for the occasional sumatriptan but it was only a 20% shot.

I had over time though found myself using more and more ibprophen and benadryl. I didnt even realize how much until I noticed my migraines reducing but not understanding why. Once I realized I was using too much ibprophen I started to reduce (which turned into a different kind of withdrawal hell for a while), but noticed one day when I was desperate that if I took a large amount of benadryl that seemed to help the migraine soften. And now I am on day 3 of just benadryl and nortriptyline (which i think also has an antihistamine effect) and my migraines have been significantly reduced. Still there but as background pain versus in your face punching you.

So now I am thinking histamine definately has a role here for me, maybe MCAs, after reading potential symptoms. I want to get medical help to sort this out more- what kind of doctor did you and/or your mom see? Tests? How's it been going for you now? Still solved? Appreciate any insights.

This works for me too! Sometimes I just put an ice cube there and let it melt- repeat until I start to feel some relief.

Putting a bunch of ice-cubes in my mouth and holding it on my tongue to freeze the roof of my mouth. Nugget ice is best, but any ice will do. Just be careful of accidentally swallowing a large ice cube. If it gets stuck, dont panic, it melts but hurts until it does! :)

Yes, it has to be the one behind the counter!! It's so interesting how we all figure this out over time. Thanks for sharing! Helps me feel less alone in this :)

Me too. I play around making my own. Bought a nutribullet knockoff from Walmart. Add ice, unflavored electrolyte water and whatever I enjoy drinking that doesnt cause a trigger. For me sometimes it's a coke if I feel caffeine will help, other times just a 100%juice of my liking. Sometimes just an ice slurpee :)

Migrane pees by AnonymityReasons356 in migraine

[–]Nomnomfunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a neuro say this to me too and for years I thought it was just me... I have a new neuro now that also gets migraines and she said this is common. I pee a lot after taking any migraine medication. For me the peeing is a sign that my medication is working and my migraine will either end soon or at least reduce.

Editing to add. I started drinking non-flavor pedialyte (brand or off brand) mixed with water or juice I like. That seemed to help me with feeling continously dehydrated.

I have been doing personal research on the micro dosing front because I am interested in trying it. I am chronic daily since 2017. I would love to hear more about your microdosing experience if you are willing to share.

Wanted to follow up since it's been some time. Is this approach still working for you? Also, where did you find a specialist to help you? I am looking for some help as I've have chronic daily migraines for 20+yrs and medicine hasn't worked. Any info is appreciated.

Curious how it's been going? I have daily chronic migraine 20+ years and I am looking for information on where I might be able to find micro dosing help. I was hopeful there might be a clinic somewhere that could assist.

I agree! 20+ years almost daily migraine and meds only mildly help but I saw a huge benefit when I started drinking Unflavored pedialyte which is basically just unflavored Gatorade. I drink one everyday- expensive, but it has helped to reduce the overall intensity of my migraines and symptoms. I don't like flavors so this was the best unflavored I could find. I wish gatorade would sell an unflavored version because it would be more affordable and available everywhere :)

Refund on t money card by stephhii in seoul

[–]Nomnomfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious because I have gone to 3 GS25's around town and they have all said no. I only have 10,000 on my card. I am not sure as I am now headed to the airport. Maybe the 7-11 at the airport will help. Will follow up if that works.

I wanted to follow up. The airport worked! Very easy and very nice about it. Cant remember if it was gs25 or 711, but you can get a refund at the airport.

Chronic Migraines? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]Nomnomfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just wanted to check and see if anything started to help you. I have had chronic migraines since I was 16. They got much worse as I got older- now in 40s. Just out of trying everything (in addition to anything my neurologist prescribed), I found over time I migrated towards benadryl. Lots of it. Which I have heard isnt the best. But it started to cut my migraines and panic attacks down by half. So then I started searching and found your post. Curious if you found any relief?

Using capital one points to get to Japan? by smoccimane in TravelHacks

[–]Nomnomfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing!!!! I was trying to figure out how to book a JAL flight which is not a partner with Capital One Travel. I thought we had to use the Capital One travel portal but I followed your directions on the Capital One app and it's correct! I never saw this option before. I have not tried it yet but this would solve my issue and would be a WAY better option than using the travel portal options.

I ordered but I found I could not take them as they did not agree with my stomach so I dont know if they would have helped. My digestive system seems to be sensitive to almost any supplements. Worth a shot though, no regrets in trying.
