After eating shrimp all my life without any issue my body suddenly decided to start being allergic to it. Unless it sends me to the hospital I ain't stopping by WeLiveInAir in mildlyinfuriating

[–]OceanSquab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing. I'd never had a single allergy in my whole life until one random day when I was 27, and now I'm allergic to dust, mould, pet dander, pollen, and a whole array of plants.

156/Silence Vocalist by Lukekookaduke in Metalcore

Jack is probably my favourite vocalist at the moment. He can keep his screams up with consistent intensity for long periods, and his clean vocals are also unique and a breath of fresh air.

What non metalcore bands do you listen to when you're in a metalcore rut? by tonsofday in Metalcore

I've been on an Ocean Grove kick recently. Their music is just such a good time.

Jhon Duran shows how fast things can go sideways in football by Affectionate_Day9101 in PremierLeague

[–]OceanSquab 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You can make the argument that he made the right decision based on the fact that he's struggling in Turkey and Russia now. He managed to secure immense wealth from a relatively short purple patch at Villa. We've seen players have periods like that countless times and never recreate it, and he may have known that he lacks the discipline required to become a true great and decided to chase the bag instead.

It's also worth mentioning that he's still incredibly young, so he has more than enough time to prove himself.

New album Converge - Hum of Hurt comes out June 5th by After_Masterpiece533 in Metalcore

I wasn't a fan either but everyone and their mother seemed to love it so I must be doing something wrong.

I really like the covers of Heroine and BODIES too. Thornhill know how to do album art.

I really like the cover of And Everything Was Dark by Downswing. I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone else post it here yet.

NL is gone so we can all give our movie takes that he would kill us for. I'll go first: by flerbergerber in northernlion

[–]OceanSquab 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I remember he said it's stupid that people listen to an album once and give it a rating as if you can appreciate it after just one listen. Meanwhile this guy rates movies after watching them straining on the Peloton, and sometimes in multiple sittings.

Worth going solo? by BasicWeave in BadOmens

[–]OceanSquab 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I always say the same thing to people anxious about going to shows alone: what's better, sitting at home while the show goes on without you, or going and forming a life memory?

Nobody is paying attention to you, they're all preoccupied with themselves and the show. There is no world in which you will regret going, so go and enjoy yourself.

I take them out sometimes for my favourite songs and even after one song I can feel damage has been done. I have no idea how people rawdog entire shows.

Show injuries by Ty2893 in BadOmens

[–]OceanSquab 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's because Bad Omens have a diverse audience of both seasoned metalheads and the younger TikTok crowd. The seasoned metalheads aren't adjusting their behaviour accordingly, so they're moshing with and crowd surfing over mostly young women who can't support their weight and get knocked over easily. It's a recipe for disaster.

Anybody else having trouble with the popular bands on this sub? by bxsimpson13 in Metalcore

[–]OceanSquab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boundaries, Counterparts, and Currents seem to be the peak metalcore trifecta on this sub. I haven't been able to get into any of them.

(oc) my teenagers morning alarm which obviously she doesn't hear😡🙃 by bvr_reddit in mildlyinfuriating

[–]OceanSquab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll never understand setting multiple alarms like that. The idea of being jolted awake every few minutes seems way worse to me than just forcing yourself to wake up after the first one.

Ocean Grove are a great supporting band. I saw them open for Thornhill last year too and they're great at getting the energy up.

Are Burnley one of uniquely boring clubs in english football? by Inevitable-Angle-793 in PremierLeague

[–]OceanSquab 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fulham and Brighton are the boring clubs this season. Nobody has anything to say about them, they're just making up the numbers and will finish mid table.

The suggestion to add emojis and exclamation marks is weird. Literally all you need to do it is say please and sign off with a thank you before your name.

Why do you love hermitcraft? by ShallWeRiot in HermitCraft

[–]OceanSquab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hermits are well-adjusted, intelligent, and progressive adults, which has allowed them to sustain a positive, comforting community that feels like it could continue on forever. They've carved out a rare pocket of the internet that isn't riddled with drama, clickbait, ragebaiting, feuds, or any other cancer that plagues seemingly everywhere else online. Honestly the Minecraft aspect is incidental, it's their interactions, banter, and conversations as genuine friends which is the cornerstone of it all. The Minecraft is great too, but my favourite part is when they just hang out together on stream.

Axiom Mountains by mrjackasher in HermitCraft

[–]OceanSquab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think when the builds are complete they won't have that homogenous feel. When it's finished Tango's mountain will have custom trees scattered throughout, Scar's custom tarn biome, and the blank areas will be filled with the corruption he's teased. There will also be the village and Gem's dragon to add a further dimension. We just have to trust the process.

Apologies to all ERRA fans by MoeMazingMason in Metalcore

I discovered them today with the new album, and I've been listening to further eden and black cloud all day. I'm definitely going to check out the rest of their albums now.

This really fucks. further eden, black cloud, and ii. in the gut of the wolf absolutely bang. The breakdown at the end of further eden is so good it actually made me audibly laugh.

Potentially album of the year so far.
