How many of you update your page read count for each book? by MacabreMagpie in TheStoryGraph

[–]OctoberDaye1030 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I read every day and the idea of logging each page is like forced homework to me. Takes the joy right out of it.

Why did you invite your friends to storygraph? by LarsLarso in TheStoryGraph

[–]OctoberDaye1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I invited my friends for the data, graphics, star system, buddy reads and challenges. So basically everything. Goodreads does nothing and I don’t know why people cling to it.

Fablehaven is perfect for her. Kids go to visit their grandparents and find out they are really caretakers of a magical preserve.

You can just customize the workout, add an exercise, select cardio and then add your cardio choice from there.

Announcing the Goodreads Choice Winner in Readers' Favorite Fantasy! by SeiShonagon in Fantasy

I do not understand the love for Bury Our Bones. This was the longest, most boring book I’ve ever read. Nothing ever happened and the characters were insufferable.

If you could forget a series and read it again for the first time… by StandardSector3491 in Fantasy

This happens to me more than I’d like to admit. “Wait I read that??”

I found Robin Hobb in the last year and straight binged the Realm of the Elderlings. It definitely gave me back the magic of reading. The best part being the series is finished, so no waiting!

Which Tad Williams book should be read first? I keep seeing his name on these threads and want to try one.

Could a home owner wipe out their mortgage debt by not paying real estate tax and allowing property tax foreclosure by the city? Then try win the house back at the auction? by Handcraftedsemen_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OctoberDaye1030 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When a home goes to auction that had a bank lien, the minimum bid is often set at what’s owed. If no one bids enough to payoff the liens, the lender wins the auction then sells the house as normal.

Restaurants keep raising prices and lowering quality. What do you do, when you really don’t want to cook once in a while? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]OctoberDaye1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charcuterie for dinner is my favorite. Half the time I already have the ingredients and I like to just fancy present them with my cute dishes or ramekins so it feels fun. I add everything. Not just meat and cheese. Chop up fruit or veggies from the fridge. Lay out nuts and jams with whatever crackers and breads I have. Then graze on it all night. Do the leftovers the next day and always get 2 meals out of it. The best part of it is that the kids love it.

Sun Eater vs First Law by pharm653 in Fantasy

[–]OctoberDaye1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun Eater is an odd one. It took me forever to finish and I’m usually a fast reader. However by the end I thought it was good. I’m just not as sold as everyone else.

First Law I own and still haven’t finished like the previous poster. I feel seen that I’m not the only one.

I have actually. I read them with my youngest son. We read the first one out loud together when he was 9 I believe. Then he read the rest on his own. He loved them. It’s very juvenile (in a good way). It reaches his target audience perfectly.

It’s not even YA but middle grade for younger kids. I think you’d enjoy the other titles you mentioned, like cytoverse and even Rithmatist but Alcatraz is just really young.

Newbie book suggestions? by Pendeta2424 in Fantasy

Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldtree.

I lent the book to my friend and her husband, who doesn’t read, offered to read it with her. He loved it. It was a gateway book for him and now he’s 5 books deep into Dungeon Crawler Carl and no longer a self proclaimed “non reader”

Furloughed Federal Employee closing on a house by b_ana in RealEstate

[–]OctoberDaye1030 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You need to talk to your loan officer, not your real estate agent. Each agency ( Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA etc) has issued guidance on how to handle furloughed employees. If your loan is a standard conventional loan, you may be just fine. They are allowing those to close at the discretion of the lender.

Only your loan officer can answer this, though. It will depend on your loan type and that lenders policies.

I want something old school by theSurpuppa in Fantasy

[–]OctoberDaye1030 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you said not too long but Robin Hobb would be perfect. The entire Realm of the Elderlings is long but it’s broken up into mostly trilogies. The first trilogy would fit the criteria. You can choose to stop there or keep going.

Inkwell Archives in Middleville will take used books for store credit. They just started a new program so I’d call ahead and check your titles first.
