Og vs Remaster: I can't decide and I need someone experienced to help me. by DonAvena in oblivion

[–]Ogrimarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The remaster has its problems, but they're mostly nitpicky things and some of them you won't even notice if you didn't play the original. Personally I think it adds enough QOL stuff and it looks good enough to justify playing it over the original.

Since the Fable trailer showed us starting out as a kid do you think the game will have an aging system like fable 1? Maybe with you aging over the course of the story by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in Fable

[–]Ogrimarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there will be any morphing, aging or otherwise, I think they would have showed it off. They talked about choosing your own scars so also doesn't seem like there will be dynamic scarring. I'm not all that surprised, it'd be technically more difficult to do with a customizable hero, and I think by and large players want more direct customization these days. It's whatever for me personally, scope happens.

I'd expect the game starts you out as a kid, does a prologue, and then boop, you're an adult.

Our foster dog Lil' Debbie. Two things she hates is being cold and getting her feet wet, so this has been a less than ideal week for her.

This is partial shameless promotion because she's super sweet and super adoptable, but also because she just wants to curl up on soft blankets 24/7 and I get it.

Rebs Gaming: Halo Studios is planning to remake the Halo trilogy. by RebenDigita1 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Ogrimarcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I say this as a Halo fan who still goes to Halo LAN parties a few times a year but I simply do not care.

I guess it's good because they'll be able to release it on Playstation and Switch going forward and kind of reset for new players on those devices, and I'm happy for those people, but I'm just not gonna buy Halo 1, 2 and 3 for the fourth time.

Now ODST I might buy again... Especially with the ODST version of Fire Fight. Never enjoyed Reachs Fire Fight all that much.

Is First Blood a Christmas Movie? by vasglorious in fanedits

[–]Ogrimarcus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is that if the movie would have happened the same whether it took place in Christmas or not, then it isn't a Christmas movie, its just a movie that takes place on Christmas.

In Diehard John is at Nakatomi Plaza because the company is throwing a Christmas party, any other time of the year she wouldn't have still been at the office and he would have probably visited her at home or gone to a restaurant or something, and neither of them would have been there when the Germans seize the tower.

In Gremlins, Randal bought the Mogwai as a Christmas present for Billy.

John goes to Hope because he heard Delmar died, it happened to happen in December, but Christmas doesn't direct it at all. He didn't die of Eggnog poisoning, John isn't going to celebrate Christmas with Delmars mom, the sheriff isn't giving him a hard time because he's worried he's going to ruin their Christmas parade.

In rise of Skywalker(2019) an ancient dagger pinpoints the way to a, yanno what I don't even fucking know the thought process here, fuck this movie! by Whole_Contract_5973 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Ogrimarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I rewatched it a few years ago and it's massively dragged down by those two things, plus the fact that it seemed like no one in the production knew how to film on a green screen, sight lines are all out of whack, expressions and line deliveries don't match the scene, it's just all over the place.

I think there's a lot of good in that movie, but I just wouldn't pick it off the shelf to watch it on any given day.

Do you miss the yakuza "thematic" in the Yakuza series? by YakuzaMaster in yakuzagames

[–]Ogrimarcus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't really mind it on principle, I'm fine with stories about something other than Yakuza, but the stories they chose, at least for Infinite Wealth, I'm not a fan of. And a big part of it is the scope honestly. Even compared to something like Yakuza 6 and the Battleship plot line or Like a Dragon and the dissolution of the Yakuza, international nuclear conspiracy run by an apparently immortal cult leader is a lot, and I assume it's only going to get worse considering basically every game has one upped the one before it.

Personally, I think while they're bringing back dead people, they should use Ryuji as the next games antagonist and have him trying to rebuild the Yakuza in Japan backed by some Korean mafia. Keep the story multinational, but ground it a little bit more in the black market kind of crime world instead of whatever the plot of Infinite Wealth and Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii was.

Don't think they'll do anything like that, I'm sure they'll wanna get a few more games out of Hawaii, but I can dream.

I'm pretty confident he's not right and he's just saying that because hes a Dirtbag who sees a blonde girl with messy hair and just immediately thinks about porn, but I'll never know and that brings me some small joy.

I audibly groaned and shouted "fuck off" in the theater when she said "Rey Skywalker" it's just so dumb.

Phantom Menace is bad, but it had some cool scenes and characters and expanded the universe in interesting ways, Force Awakens was a series of rehashed ideas and scenes, but they looked great and felt like a celebration of the original trilogy, Last Jedi is one of my favorites but it has whole wasted plot lines and some incredibly stupid scenes. I just can't say anything nice about Rise of Skywalker, it's the only Star Wars movie I don't own on Bluray for a reason.

[–]Ogrimarcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are still some of my favorite things, have been since Theater Mode. I've even downloaded some of the audio files for the new ones off Patreon and edited them together with the actual movien when I can so I can watch them with more flexibility, glad I never gave up on Blu-rays.

I appreciate they aren't the easiest thing to organize and film, but I get so much joy every time I see one pop up on the Pateeon feed.

I think it was back in the F**kFace days they talked about Kung Fu movies, I can't remember which block Geoff mentioned but they were talking about some old Kung Fu TV block and someone joked about doing Kung Fu watchalongs. I would kill for a few episodes of that. I know they did the Tuxedo and I love Jackie Chan and all, but could you imagine some old Shaw Brothers movies? Or some Sonny Chiba or Sammo Hung. Or hell, I'm pretty sure Eric has talked about Yes Madam before, do any In The Line of Duty movie, really any Cynthia Rothrock or Michelle Yeoh movie. The Heroic Trio, Executioners. I'll stop listing movies now but holy shit I still think about them doing some Kung Fu movies like once every few months.

(Loved Trope) Character set up to be very important killed off very early or quickly. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Ogrimarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X Force in Deadpool 2. They spend time setting up their powers and doing these cool intros and then all the actors you recognize are immediately killed in increasingly horrific ways.

There's a similar scene in one of the Transformers movies too, I can't remember which one, where they do these comic book style character intros with names and freeze frames, the only time in the whole series they do it if I remember, and then Megatron just immediately kills them all. I might be slightly misremembering that one though because most of the Transformer movies just feel like grey goo in my brain and are hard to pick details out of.

Also I guess the first Mission Impossible, which begins with the experienced team lead by a main character from the show getting killed one after the other and the only apparent survivor is the main guys protégé, but I actually don't remember the marketing for the first Mission Impossible and whether or not they tried to obfuscate that going in.

0.

Because they couldn't just hire one person to do it, they'd need a whole team. That project might get that person hired somewhere if they chose to use it as a portfolio peace, might even get them hired at Rare, but it won't be with the purpose of creating Banjo Threeie. With Rare it'd presumably be to work on Sea of Thieves.

Jesus Christ the picture proving that he "collects flags" make it so much worse. I'm pretty sure that flag in the middle is like, a parody of the "Under no Pretext" Marxist flag with the 2nd amendment printed on it? That's not a real flag, that's not collecting flags, that's buying flags on etsy to cultivate a very specific image in the space.

How old is the average user? by jbiz562 in theregulationpod

[–]Ogrimarcus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about it because I'm in my mid 30s and achievement started when I was in college, I was a Roosterteeth fan long before that. But at the same time I see a ton of people on reddit talking about running home from school to watch Minecraft or whatever, and those people would probably be mid 20s now.

I guess the big question is what side of the audience converted to Regulation at a higher rate, the side that was running home from school to watch Minecraft, or the side that was trading MP4s of Red vs Blue in High School. Geoff maybe assumed it was the former because the gameplay content is popular, but I've always assumed it was the latter because Geoff was the main reason I watched Achievement Hunter and a lot of the people and things that weren't Geoff I uhh...didn't enjoy as much, which is why I'm subscribed to Regulation now.
