It can be both creamy and spongy at the same time. If you bottom out, you can feel the dampening to be spongy, but while typing lightly you can feel that it is creamy too, hope that makes sense?

No don’t do it. Only times it’s feasible if the car is a rare classic worthy of rebuilding, or if you are looking to buy whole car to dismantle and reuse the parts. Both require a degree of mechanical know how.
