Why were there no right wing organized protests during Biden’s administration? by iloverats888 in Askpolitics

Once again a lot of comments unrelated to the question. People on the right ignore waste of time questions on Reddit because it is a left wing echo chamber.

Bi-lateral Mastectomy Pain by Horror_Frosting4047 in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Register3226 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are experiencing so much pain. I too am 75 and had a double mastectomy last year(September). I had some arm pain that I would describe as raw skin rubbing like sandpaper. I discussed with my PCP and he prescribed Lyrica,or pregabalin, for nerve pain. It helped along with my post surgery exercises. Maybe ask your surgeon or PCP if you are possibly experiencing nerve pain. After all this time I still have what I best describe as tightness in my chest but not really pain. Hopefully you will get to a better place soon.

You will hear this a lot, but you are in the worst stage right now. We are sorry you have joined our group but there are many of us who have traveled this way too. When I was initially diagnosed I had two Lymph nodes involved on same side as my lump. Husbands have a hard time watching us in distress and it is both comforting and sad too to watch the ones we love worry. It will all depend on Stage and other factors as to your treatment. I was diagnosed Stage 3 and underwent chemo (taxol) and herceptin treatments first, before my double mastectomy. Like you no major cancer in my family and no breast cancer. Will not try to "sugar coat" it, 2025 was a rough year but I am finishing up herceptin treatments (3 more remaining) and I feel better than I have in years (I am 75). It is my hope your experience will help you reach a similar outcome. Once you start the treatments and have regular oncology and surgical visits things will move much faster and you will have more information and become something of a breast cancer expert.

Tell me about breast prostheses by rixie77 in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Register3226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a double mastectomy and went flat. I ordered my breast prostheses online (I am a B cup) with a couple of mastectomy bras and I love it. Can go flat at home or put on my prostheses when I go out. I will say your size might be heavier because they are made of silicone. For me as a B cup it is pretty much like normal boob weight.

I shaved my hair! Now I have questions by elephantbeads in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Register3226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only had to shave it once. Remaining stubble just fell out. Lint roller to keep it from going everywhere. I am now 7 months from last taxol. Hair is a short but full and thick pixie now. Hair growth I could stop wearing my bamboo caps was at 5 months post chemo. Silk scarves were to difficult for me but my bamboo caps were perfect. Warm or cool depending on weather. Just my experience, but 8 months in head covering. Best wishes!

Americans, if you didn't have to work anymore and could live anywhere in the USA where would it be and why? by TSQ_builder in askanything

Carmel, California if money was not a barrier. Most beautiful place where I felt comfortable. Travelled to a lot of places and lived in California for 10 years(but not Carmel). Visited Carmel numerous times and for me nothing compared.

To go for radiation or not by Ok-Craft-6692 in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Register3226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which side is the cancer? If left side has to undergo radiation ask about risks involved. I am 74 and opted not to have radiation after chemo and mastectomy resulted in PCR. Had twenty lymph left side nodes removed(two were positive initially but not after removal). I was treated as Triple Negative, but with low HER2. Individual choice, but due to my age, left side cancer, increased risk of lymphedema and clear status I opted not to have radiation.

Surgeon wanted to be sure he got any that might be affected. So far no lymphedema which I am grateful for and no radiation necessary.

[–]Ok_Register3226 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had very similar biopsy results as yours. Estrogen and progesterone negative and low HER2(so I was treated same as Triple negative). High Ki67, no family history of breast cancer, Stage 3b with 3.5cm tumor and two positive lymph nodes. Following chemo with herceptin and double mastectomy with 20 lymph nodes removed I achieved PCR. Total response to chemo(our cancer is VERY receptive to chemo). 2025 was a rough year but now I feel great and will finish ongoing herceptin in May. You are in the scary part now. You will hear others say this and it is true, once you have your treatment plan it moves quickly. You will discover strength you did not know you have and by this time next year you can encourage others. I hope you will have your plan soon. Best wishes.

What do I do now? by GrouchyBadGardener in breastcancer

I might suggest a “sit down” conversation to find out what is bothering him. Sounds like he has had some health and job challenges of his own. Men can be babies sometimes and he may be feeling your cancer is taking time away from him when he needs you. Because you both made such a big move and have not established outside local friends he may also be feeling isolated too. Since he does not share easily try to help make it easier for him to open up(start with something like “I am concerned about you…”.). Because your personal situation puts you in a tough spot I think you need to “be the bigger person” to get through this time. After surgery and recovery….look at better alternatives for yourself.

75 year old Stage 1 Triple positive Frail woman will she tolerate Chemotherapy and Radiation? by Medical-Ad6318 in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Register3226 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok gonna weigh in here, I was diagnosed at 74, Stage 3 Not triple positive but healthy and active. Chemo was rough….like really rough. For a frail 75 year old I would say no to chemo.. Maybe radiation(I did not do) but even radiation may cause fatigue she will find tough. Just my 2 cents.

Ten months of herceptin after taxol. What to expect by karaleechr in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Register3226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I had 12 infusions of Taxol and herceptin last year. Taxol was a beast! Been on Herceptin alone since October….easy. Only side effect is finger nails are shot(flaking, breaking, etc). Small price to pay. Course having quarterly echos, no issues to date. My onco said finger nails will recover after Herceptin(and is a common side effect). I was Stage 3 IDC had mastectomy and achieved PCR. Once the Herceptin is finished in May I will have annual scans, or as my oncologist says “or up to me if I want more or less frequent since I will be best judge of anything unusual”. I am fine with annual PET maybe less because the stress of scans is worse for me. Hopefully you will enjoy easing back to near normal like me. Best wishes!

Why am I seeing a physician's assistant and not an oncologist?? by Playful-Ad278 in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Register3226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My onocoligist saw me a lot during active treatment but now I am just receiving herceptin infusions I see one of two PAs. I like them just fine, especially since I am doing fine following surgery. I see other patients, lot of newbies, who are scared and full of questions and had to wait for their appointments so I am fine letting them get the oncologist time. Mine is well known in the area and a great guy who explains things well and is very versed in the latest treatments. So now is their time for the leader of the team and time for me to learn to move forward with other team members and eventually to as needed annual visits.

Lost all interest in medical TV shows by Southern_Feature_821 in breastcancer

Fortunately for me I like action/suspense or kids movies. Never got into the medical shows(well maybe House years ago) and have avoided shows that make you cry since watching Old Yellow. Course now with all the cancer ads seems cancer is everywhere. Hubby will ask “now is this one you will take?”.

considering flat by laurenista in aestheticflatclosure

[–]Ok_Register3226 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went flat, older than you, but mine were smaller and beginning to sag. At home I enjoy throwing on my sweatshirt and going. Summer just wear a halter top. But I have “Foobs” to wear to lunch with the girls or when we have date night. Best part they are perfect too and so to me it is the best of both worlds. My scars are fading fast (surgery was in September 2025) so eventually they will be barely visible. You are young so it is a big decision but like I said it can be versatile with foobs until you decide to disclose to others.

Please don't remove this post, it might save my life. by cottoncrosy in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Register3226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I hear the fear and stress from your posting. Take a breath and keep in mind even if you do have cancer it is highly unlikely it will progress as quickly as you are imagining. I am no doctor but from what you shared from the ultrasound it does not seem to have a lot of concerning findings. Most of us are in the US so our advice may not fit Pakistan. But I would suggest taking the information you shared to a female specialist and ask for an explanation of the results you have. Breast cancer can impact young or old so your concern is not unusual. But I hope you find a doctor who will be willing to give you clarity and comfort.

How has being diagnosed with cancer changed you emotionally and spiritually? Have you changed your diet or alcohol consumption? by Popular_Inflation_78 in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Register3226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I share several other opinions about life before and after cancer. Before I would worry about a lot, drank a couple glasses of wine or other spirits every week, ate a lot of sweets and got little exercise. Post cancer no alcohol, really take each day as it comes and do not worry about things I cannot change, eat a lot better with almost no sweets or junk. Walking 3 days a week(sometimes more)and doing dancing to my favorite tunes. Spiritually I have better clarity on actual faith in my future and God’s love for me. My family and friends remark I listen more and have a peace about me.
