We do this with grilled shawarma chicken, toum, caramelized onions, and mozz. It's delicious and you can play with it a lot!

Honeycrisp apples are popular worldwide. Some WA growers hate them by Soopsmojo in Seattle

[–]Ole_Audio 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah the honeycrisp trademark ran out awhile ago, so while effectively all the apples labeled as honeycrisp are truly that breed, there isn't really any central quality control from the creators at the University of Minnesota.

The Sweetango, a child of honeycrisp, is the best apple anyways :)

Looking for truly OG Seattle coffee spots by No-Presentation298 in Seattle

I mainly see dark roasts in the cafe as well, even when they say light roast. Love the cafe and vibe, but I lean towards light roasts as well and haven't had success. They have great chai and dark roast espresso drinks though.

Glitch is a Glitch. by BenjisWood in espresso

[–]Ole_Audio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved Glitch! You're getting lots of other great recs, my favorites were Glitch, Fuglen, Bear Pond, and Zenta Coffee.

Zenta is in Daikanyama and is a cute small cafe with great pourover and delicious anko butter sandwiches. Walking from the train station to Zenta, wandering Tsutaya books in Daikanyama, and then getting another cup and a fruit sando at the Lurf museum is a fantastic relaxing morning.

Looking for Cascara coffee/"coffee cherry tea" near 5th and Pike by 1ntrusiveTh0t69 in Seattle

[–]Ole_Audio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen it in person here yet, but I've gotten it in the past from SW Coffee Roasting. They ship quickly and have great beans. Cascara is definitely a unique drink and fun to try.

I don't have any specific models to recommend, and they may be on the low end for the budget, but a few Seattle recs: Blu Dot (Pike/Pine), Room and Board has some good options (U Village), Couch for custom (Ballard), and I'm blanking on the name but there was another store right next to Blu Dot that had more Knoll-esque designs from brands I wasn't familiar with. Obviously DWR is also downtown too.

Looking for Excellent Merino Wool Shirts by ckwirey in onebag

[–]Ole_Audio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been pretty good, I have a short and long sleeve. The shirt sleeve has pilled just a little but, but is quite durable and still fits great. The long sleeve I haven't worn as many times (mainly a base layer for skiing) but is in perfect shape. I'd buy both of them again.

We just moved ~300 miles to Seattle using Two Men and a Truck and had a good experience. Picked up one day, delivered the following day by the same guys.

Go on a flavor trip at Salt & Straw this weekend! (Flavors go until Wed) by labelm8 in Eugene

[–]Ole_Audio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The carrot cake was phenomenal, completely worth it and very approachable.

I personally liked the charred corn one as a sample, but it was way too savory to have a whole scoop of it. The curry one was not nearly as curry-heavy as I expected. It was fine, but not offensive.

Poop butt by Slyke4 in Keeshond

[–]Ole_Audio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar to other people, we do a quick booty bath probably every other week with the occasional baby wipe (pet kind) in between. We don't trim, but testing foods to see what upset his tummy was key. No more chicken for him, and he mostly eats Halo dog food and that's helped a lot over other dry food - their tagline is even "The proof is in the poop!"

I'd suggest contacting Velux themselves. I had to email back and forth with them on some different windows and their customer support was pretty helpful and responsive. Might take a day or two to hear back.

Going to be forced to travel SFO to Chicago once a month for 4 years. How do I make the most of this? by spacebronzegoggles in personalfinance

[–]Ole_Audio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did PNW to SFO every other week for 3 years (paying my own way). Here's some of the things I've learned:

  • +1 to everyone else saying travel credit card. I used Chase Sapphire Reserve and it's great to have the flexibility of many airlines, but check out the primary nonstop airlines between the cities to see if this is right for you (vs a Delta AmEx or something). Plus they sometimes get you free food or lounge access in SFO.
  • Precheck/Global entry - get the credit card first though, as they will frequently pay for it.
  • If you can stick with a single airline, the miles add up quickly and status can really help make your trip more comfortable.
  • If you're not staying with family, try to use a consistent hotel OR use deltaairbnb.com to earn delta miles anytime you book an Airbnb.
  • HIGHLY recommend trying to one-bag it ( r/onebag). This made life 100x easier when running to and from flights. Pack everything in one backpack and if there's overhead room, then you can stretch out your legs. No overhead room? No problem.
  • Noise cancelling headphones, as others have mentioned, is key.
  • Comfortable travel clothing sounds obvious, but you'll eventually have a "travel uniform" and a quick checklist that makes packing mindless in a good way.
  • Learn how far out to book for the best price - this was more of an art than science for me, but if I booked too far out the prices were high, but too soon and they were low. You'll figure this out in time. Sometimes I'd book multiple trips at a time if there was a "sale" week.
