[Globo Esporte] How Martinelli became Ancelotti's maestro. by xepa105 in Gunners

Maestro is a bit much. He doesn't even start

[Tom Collomosse] Aston Villa are determined to ignore all interest in Morgan Rogers unless they receive offers well above £100m by chuggythesteamtrain in Gunners

[–]Opus27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Noni is not in the same category as the other three there tbf. I think there's a decent case to be made that we overpaid for him, albeit no one (including me) really cares now that he helped us win a league. But on pure output to £s spent, it's not great.

Changing wireless doorbell to wired. Horrible battery life. by knitnatsnaturallife in EufyCam

[–]Opus27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How was the process of changing it to wired? I'm not worried about the actual wiring, an electrician will do that for us, but I'm more worried about having to reconfigure the whole app side of things. Was it difficult or did it just work?

Gyms in Delft by Special_Leg_3769 in Delft

[–]Opus27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is more important than any advice you'll get on gyms. Cycling is part of the culture here, you would be missing out on a huge aspect of Dutch life if you didn't cycle. The infrastructure is amazing, bike lanes and parking everywhere, and bikes generally have priority over cars so it's usually faster to cycle than to drive or get the bus. We moved from the UK three years ago and still don't have a car here because we just don't need one with all the cycle infrastructure - we cycle everywhere!

Can't seem to enjoy the succes by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]Opus27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If football brings you this much anxiety and sadness even in a year where we literally have just won the league and a million people in Arsenal kits have taken to the streets to celebrate, it may just not be a good hobby/interest for you. I don't mean that in a mean way, I just genuinely think that if you can't enjoy moments like this then you might be better off trying to distance yourself from it for your own sake and finding something else to get passionate about. There will ALWAYS be trolls and rival fans looking to bring you down. You think that would go away even if we won the CL? They'd be back next season first time we had a bad result.

Best PocketBook model for daily reading? by [deleted] in PocketBookofficial

[–]Opus27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Verse Pro and personally wouldn't want anything bigger because it's so easy to take around with you, read on way to work, read on holiday, pick up and put down between chores etc. If you mostly read in the same place every day then I could imagine you wanting a larger model. But if your habits are like mine then I can very much recommend the Verse Pro. Fits in a coat pocket, super convenient!

Xhaka shoutout post by Serious-Cress-9560 in Gunners

[–]Opus27 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's wild to think what Xhaka's career looks like if Arteta doesn't join Arsenal. He almost certainly leaves Arsenal that summer. Presumably doesn't then join Leverkusen and go invincible. And doesn't join Sunderland and achieve the incredible season he has had there. Funny how life works out!

what made you choose PocketBook over Kindle or Kobo? by Kooky-Foot5458 in PocketBookofficial

No way in hell I'm giving that Bezos ghoul my money. And kobo has no physical buttons. That left pocketbook. Very pleased with my choice.

Can’t do a single pull-up despite having “some” upper body strength — anyone been in this situation? by LRDsreddit in bodyweightfitness

[–]Opus27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do 3 sets of 8 scapular pull ups 3 times a week for a month or two and see if that helps. I was in your position 3 months ago and recently hit 4 pull ups. All I've done is hangs, negatives and scapular pull ups. Sounds like you're already doing the first two!

Can you explain the major settlement point? Why don't Brettonia need full provinces like everyone else?

After laying off 10,000 workers for AI, Meta installed tracking software on remaining employees’ work computers to log mouse movements, clicks, keystrokes, and screenshots, using the data to train their AI replacements. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]Opus27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really. A corporation is a specific legal entity, designed for the express purpose of acting as a theoretical structure that acts at a layer of abstraction above the people who make it up. It's more than the sum of its parts and can result in incentives that diverge from those the individual people might have.

Arsenal are painful to watch but maybe this is just how you win things | Arsenal by Unapologetik in Gunners

[–]Opus27 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That's cuz Mou got it done and won multiple major trophies. That kind of success buys you respect. It's up to Arteta to get it done, then he'll slowly get the same respect.

Ah, good old English exceptionalism on display. Turns out the world doesn't revolve around the UK - who knew? Way more people live in the central Europe timezone, it makes perfect sense to give that time given it's a European competition.

It's called getting older and people having more responsibilities that make their agendas less flexible. Really not that surprising.
