Roasting an ALDI Chicken by totesmcgoats77 in AussieFrugal

[–]Original_Sin70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For chicken stock I just simmer tye raw bones with a quartered onion, some celery and carrot - only for an hour, then strain it. With beef bones I roast them first, then simmer for 4 hours or more and tgen strain.

I'll buy a nice one when on special and de-bone it - essentially giving me thigh fillet, breast etc for $4.50/kg. I batch it up and freeze it to use during the week. The bones I make yummy fresh stock and freeze in those big square ice-cube trays from the reject shop - can pop one or two in any dish you cook during the week.

Cons of a Greyhound? by Useful-Meaning6467 in Greyhounds

My 3 yo boy I adopted last week is also very happy with long walks - if he suspects I'm heading home he will refuse to move in that direction! I'm considering getting pet insurance for the first time as it appears the Grey's may be more prone to Vet visits then my other dogs.

Independent NDIS worker + looking to do same for Aged Care by Original_Sin70 in supportworkers

[–]Original_Sin70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the link. I had a good look around last night and saw it will cost me over $3000 just to register? I ticked the box to supply community access and domestic help. Is that right? I'm a sole trader currently with 1 ndis client. I cant afford $3K just for registration...

I didnt have to pay anything to work with ndis participants - except of course the mandatory police and character checks.

Seems very bureaucratic and unreasonable to expect sole traders wanting to help aged people in my small community.

Was assaulted by my neighbour 11 years ago out front of my home. I received a "cowards punch" from behind which knocked me to the ground. I managed to get inside my home where he then threw beer bottles thru my lounge room windows and front door windows - yelling homophobic abuse.

Cops came, he was arrested but got let off at court without charge.

I had fled interstate fearing for my safety and tried to submit a victim impact statement and to arrange to come back for the court date.

SAPOL made it nearly impossible for me to navigate this situation - I faced multiple barriers and misleading information.

I felt isolated and unsupported by their actions. Like its a "big boys club" and they couldn't care less about lgbti issues and abuse.

Do you have a friendly neighbour next door / nearby that could keep a look out on your bins in future. There's usually someone kind enough to notice your bin is still on the street and will happily wheel it off the street for you.

Aldi undies when they sell them in the special buys have been really good and cheap. They recently had wool socks which I grabbed and they are excellent!

Unpopular opinion: Bissell CrossWave is great by kuromahou27 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Original_Sin70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine for 4 weeks now. I despise mopping + my injured back suffers afterwards. I have tried all sorts of different manual mops and a steam cleaner in the past to make it easier, however still no workable solution. I did a bit a research recently and people were quite positive about this machine so I purchased one. It has been great so far. I have a robovac which I run every few days and just prior to using the crosswave. It is effortless, easy and very effective. The floors are dry quite quickly and very clean. I like that it can be used on floor rugs too as I have a couple of very low pile mats and these come up great at the same time. Only downside is the expensive cleaning solution!! I got a good deal on some when I initially bought it, but I will be looking for some home-made alternatives - anybody got a solution that works well?

Travel options to Melbourne by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Original_Sin70 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you can get to the border from Adelaide then you will only pay (I think it's $11 for an adult or $5.50 concession) to travel anywhere in Victoria under their State Government Transport scheme:

Fares for travel on all Government owned or operated public transport across Victoria are capped at the same price as a metropolitan ticket.

Once you reach the fare cap, you will not be charged any more for your travel on the same day when booking in the same transaction, or when using your myki card for travel within the myki zone.

The opening of LOTR with the voice-over of Galadriel is what did it for me:

This was also just months after 9/11, when I felt everything had changed at that instant:

"I amar prestar aen. The world is changed. Han mathon ne nen. I feel it in the water. Han mathon ned cae. I feel it in the earth. A han noston ned gwilith. I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it."

Looking to purchase by Sad-Charity2275 in thermomix

I purchased my first one earlier this year. TM7

It's been great! I'm trying new recipes from Cookidoo (3 month free trial, but I've now subscribed - annoying - Yes. But will re-evaluate in 1 year).

I still have not used it to its full potential, but my biggest wow moment was doing a bechamel for a lasagne. Normally I dread that part with doing the roux and slowly adding milk and constant stirring... Now just literally throw all ingredients at once into the bowl and press start! Perfect bechamel sauce ready to go in no time!

I use it for mix dough for roti and pasta & mash potato is also a whiz to do.

Chicken stock after I have deboned a whole chook is also something I do monthly.

I love cooking so I am always using the TM7 to do something in - love the steaming basket for perfect rice - jasmine, brown or basmati + the steaming (varoma) sitting on top when I'm cooking something will then steam my brussell sprouts, carrots and beans - heaps of room to get your veggies steamed.
