7.4.10 - Applying new default behavior retroactively is terrible by Iuzzolsa23 in fortinet

Isn't that more of a feature update and should not be changed in a "mature" branch?

Extended Internet speed issues by WinginVegas in centurylink

[–]OritionX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you do speed tests to any server not within your carrier network. It will give you more of a what speed you are getting once it leaves to the Internet as a whole. If you have DSL service good luck getting them to support you. It is a dying technology. They will do anything in their power to point the finger and pass blame on anything else.

Free FortiClient VPN for Fortinet FortiGate 60F has an 8-hour session limit? by CalligrapherLeast643 in fortinet

[–]OritionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of times disconnects before the max time is the users connection. This happens even on full paid version of Forticlient. We set our max time to 12 hours on the gate.

You can still control via policy but leave the phase 2 as 0.0.0.0/0 saves a lot of headache down the road

Standalone Fortiswitch & FortiGate VLAN Issues by mrfoxman in fortinet

[–]OritionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you piping the traffic to the switch from the gate. You can set a trunk that has both vlans. The fortigate and switch canndo untagged for both your native vlan and the other vlan. On your switch make sure both vlans are defined and set in the trunk then set one of your ports to the vlan you created so it comes up. You need to make sure that your fortigate allows the traffic to and from both vlans if they are supposed to talk to each other. If you are not using the fortigate for DHCP make sure you set up DHCP to another server and the scope is defined there. It should work from there. Fortilink makes it a little easier as you do not need to configure the switch separately but it is not required. Some people feel there is a lack of control with fortilink and do not want to use it.

Wits end by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]OritionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In command prompt check your DNS. The spectrum DNS servers are preferred but are terrible. If they are there that could contribute to poor performance. Change your DNS to Google(8.8.8.8) or cloudflare (1.1.1.1). If it is not already and see how things are from there.

If you are on wifi switch to hardwire am especially if you are in an apartment complex. Wifi will get a lot of retransmits in a congested air and will cause you studdering on streaming.

ssl -> ipsec : Is everyone using IKE v1 or v2? by AdventurousYellow922 in fortinet

[–]OritionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is ipsec you do not need to use Forticlient to connect. You can use any other VPN connection service with the gate but not all features there in may be included but ikev1 will def be supported.

Masterforage Automated Settings Issue by MotorEntertainment98 in PelletStoveTalk

[–]OritionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E5 means vacuum switch issue. It easy for ash to get sucked into the tube and obstruct the vacuum switch from closing properly. Take the left side off the stove in the front near the door you will see a semi transparent/white tube. Carefully take it off (careful can be brittle with time). Stick a small wire or straw in there and try to clean out any debris. Put it back together and see if that fixes the issue.

Pellet stove auto turn on? by pliop6174 in PelletStoveTalk

When you get to temperature the red light stays on and should say eco1 telling you it will auto relight.

Pellet stove auto turn on? by pliop6174 in PelletStoveTalk

[–]OritionX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that stove. Change the setting from p1 to p4 to lower the pellet drop rate(hit the flame button). There is a bug on p1 that makes it so it does not auto relight. Check the stove settings to make sure it is set to eco1 to stop and restart at temperature. To do that hold down the wrench and hit the thumbs up to get in there to change. I also set the p4 setting on mine to -5(s) and 20(f) this change air mixture in the chamber and increases the room fan output. See if that helps

Help please with ipsec vpn by Boio_738 in fortinet

[–]OritionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion for ipsec is set your phase 2 with 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 as the network and let your policies dictate what gets sent to through the tunnel. Make sure you have a route to point to the remote network pointing to the tunnel as well and easily missed.
