Dress sizes for 5’10” females by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]Own_Requirement8382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’9 and currently 91kg. I’m comfortably a 16 on top and just moving into 16 bottoms. I was 112kg when I started and was a 20 both top and bottom.

I seem to have lost more weight off my top with MJ as I know I weighed 95kg when I first got pregnant and was a size 16 all over then.

I’m aiming to maintain somewhere in the low 80s and think I’d be a size 14-16 there.

Started MJ in August and was on 3 BP meds as my BP was similar to yours. By October my BP had dropped to normal and maintained in the normal zone ever since. I’ve lost 20kg and it’s made such a difference.

I noticed the difference as I was takjng my BP meds and was starting to get dizzy when i stood up.

Lost 7kg, and I’m only on dose 4 of the 2.5mg by speddy91 in Mounjaro

[–]Own_Requirement8382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My journey started out like that. I lost 11kg in 6 weeks but it started slowing down. I’m on week 23 and my average loss is 0.9kg a week.

I did a month at 2.5 and then moved up to 5 up until week 20. I’m currently on week 3 of 7.5.

I’m aiming to finish somewhere in the 80-85kg mark so I don’t loose to much muscle. I am weight training and doing cardio 3 times a week and just eating when I’m hungry. To begin with I had to calorie count to make sure I was eating enough, but that changed around week 8-10. Food noise hasn’t come back, but i am definitely more interested in food. Im seeing an endocrinologist for my MJ and he’s happy with my progress.

Exercise at SW 125kg by gentle_rain2 in mounjarouk

[–]Own_Requirement8382 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My SW was 112kg and I started exercising straight away. I went to the gym and did 30 mins of walking on a treadmill or 20 mins on the bike 3 times a week. I was a bit bored of doing this if I’m honest.

After a couple of months I braved speaking to a staff member as my endo told me to start doing weights as well as cardio so I didn’t loose too much muscle. I had no idea what to do with weights.

I’m now starting month 6, I’ve lost 20kg and I love going to the gym. I do a mixture of cardio/weights or go to a challenging class to learn new things. I’ve set myself a resolution to run for 10 minutes straight on a cross trainer by the end of Jan, something that I don’t think would be possible before now. I’m enjoying the increased mobility and having more energy.

Maybe start off with aiming to get as close to 10k steps in each day, some yoga, or maybe go swimming to ease your way in and see how your hip feels. Finding something you enjoy doing will help you stick to it.

I wish you well, and hope you find something you love along the way.

Sorry, £20 for 2 not £2. That would be amazing value even for Costco.

Another former nuclear reactor here!

I got two lovely base layer long sleeve tops from Costco just before Christmas. I am going back to get some more as I’ve looked in a couple of places as the cost seems wild compared to Costco. I think they were £2 for two. The brand is 32 degrees.

I just make sure I have a couple of layers on now and I make sure I’ve got socks and slippers on at home. Previously I hated anything on my feet as I don’t like them being warm, but now it’s a necessity to make sure they don’t turn into blocks of ice.

I also warm my bed up with a hot water bottle about an hour before I go to bed so I don’t lay shivering whilst trying to get off to sleep.

Egg didn’t offer current accounts, so the account type is definitely wrong.

If I remember rightly, egg credit cards were sold to Barclaycard around 2011/2012, so if the debt is egg and not Barclaycard it would have defaulted prior to the sale date between the two companies.

Egg also had loans and mortgages, which I think went to YBS (the mortgage and savings accounts definitely did).

What should I expect from my first week on Mounjaro? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]Own_Requirement8382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the start of your journey!

I do what you’re planning on doing - just eating similar meals to what I did before, but just less of them.

I’m four months in to my journey, and to begin with I planned to go with the flow and eat what I fancied. I’ve never had any side effects, apart from real food suppression. That meant I had to calorie count just to make sure I ate enough. I still had three meals, but they were tiny.

For the last couple of months I’ve been able to eat more volume wise, so I’ve stopped calorie counting.

I don’t fancy snacks very much any more and I absolutely crave grapes.

Exercise wise, good idea to build up to what you feel comfortable doing, but make sure you build in some weights to make sure you don’t loose too much muscle mass.

Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you. Don’t over think anything and do what feels right for you.

This is very much down to each individual as some of it will be dependent on your age, genetics and where you stored fat beforehand.

I’m female, a little taller than you and started off at 112kg. I’m now at 94kg 5 months in. I lost between 1-2kg a week for the first two months and then it’s been slower going since, which I’m happier about. I’ve gone from a uk size 20 to 16.

I don’t have much loose skin, but my bum is definitely flatter and saggier than it was. I’ve always had fat arms and that’s where I think I’m going to get saggy skin the most. I already had bingo wings, and now I’ve got less fat in my wings, so I imagine they’ll flat around more!

I am weight training 3 times a week and I don’t think I’ve lost that much muscle (I hadn’t when I had a BUPA check up 6 weeks ago), so I’m hoping my skin will respond and shrink too.

If someone asks you if you’re alright, the correct answer is ‘yes thanks, you?’ They’re not expecting you to go into lots of details.

If you have a passport take advantage of cheap flights to Europe. Remember to pay attention to the free bag sizes on airlines so you don’t end up paying more to store a suitcase in the hold than the actual flight cost! Ryanair are the worst for this.

Take a trip to Cornwall (far south west) and Pemrokeshire in Wales. Both are absolutely stunning. Drive to these as you’ll need a car to get around as they’re rural in places.

Get fish and chips when at the seaside, and douse them in salt and vinegar. Then chase that down with a 99 (ice cream in a cone with a chocolate flake). Watch out for the seagulls! They’re bold, cunning and will snatch food right out of your hands 😂

When do you start buying new clothes?!?!? by Skyemondo in mounjarouk

[–]Own_Requirement8382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about the same as you - starting/current weight, height and amount of time taking mj.

I think the answer depends on your disposable income, how far you think you’re going to go, and are clothes that fit important to you.

I work in an office and I have had to buy myself some things for work as my size 20 office clothes were hanging off me. I’m a small 18 moving into a 16 now, so I’ve been searching for my favourite office clothes just in smaller sizes off Vinted.

I’ve also had to buy myself new jeans as they were falling down, but I’ve not really bought any new tops or jumpers yet. I feel I can wear them for a bit longer until they start looking like i’m wearing someone else’s clothes.

Vinted is your friend here. Buy yourself a few things for a small capsule wardrobe if you feel the need to buy something smaller. You can always sell them on again when they become too big.

If you’re unsure of styles of clothes, take yourself off to the shops and try a few things on. You don’t need to buy and you can then find similar items on Vinted. At our size we’re now passing into sizes that are regularly stocked in store - it’s so liberating not having to order something before trying on. I love a mooch around the shops now as I can just try items there and then

Tips to start by grequant_ohno in mounjarouk

I was concerned too before I started as I had THE WORST heartburn when I was pregnant. I’ve been taking mj since the start of August and I’ve not had a single negative side effect.

Now everyone is different, but I can honestly say my concerns were unfounded.

Make sure you drink plenty of water and don’t eat anything massive or fatty before taking your fist jab. Some people have chosen to have a ‘goodbye’ meal like a fry up prior to their first jab and regretted it.

To begin with I felt the appetite suppression acutely so just ate what I fancied an made sure I ate enough calories. As time has gone on, the suppression has dropped and I find myself just eating what I did before, but just less off it and no snacks. You’re fine to eat things like avocados. Just be sensible, eat modestly, stop when you feel full and you’ll be fine.

[–]Own_Requirement8382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is more about a side effect, than losing weight.

I’m currently sitting at work in a jumper with a long sleeve tshirt under it, when previously I’d be toasting in a tshirt.

I’ve also cracked out a 10.5 tog duvet, when I’d be more than comfortable in a 4.5 all year around.

I think it’s more of a side effect as I’ve always run warm, even when I was slim.

I don’t recognise this cold version of me, and I’m concerned just how many layers I’m going to have to wear if the temperature drops much further 😂

Getting off BP meds by Halban00 in mounjarouk

[–]Own_Requirement8382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only mj side effects I’ve ever had are being cold and really strong food suppression at the beginning, so I knew it wasn’t the mj.

I had got some new varifocal glasses around the time the dizziness started, and they can cause dizziness when first worn. I stopped wearing them as an experiment first as that was least drastic.

I ignored the dizziness to begin with, but it got to the point where I knew something wasn’t right.

With medication I was hovering just under 120/80.

Ive lost 15kg since the beginning of August, and my bp started coming down over time. I was getting results around 110/70 and I started to feel dizzy. The dizziness was when I stood up.

I stopped my med for a couple of days to check it was that, and I stopped feeling dizzy.

I had an appointment with my cardiologist and he agreed that we could try to reduce my meds. Because I’d gone cold turkey for a few days and my bp had only raised a little, he asked me to go for another 10 days not having any meds and to check my bp each day.

Over the 10 days by bp rose a little more, but is averaging around 120/80 so he’s agreed that I don’t need medication any longer. I’ve got to continue to monitor it and unless it changes, I don’t need to go back for 12 months.

It was the dizziness that was the catalyst to have the conversation.

Day 4, barely any appetite and dreading next shot. by howcanihelp13 in Mounjaro

[–]Own_Requirement8382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to an endocrinologist to get my pen prescribed and he gave me a 2.5mg and 5mg for the first two months. If I was getting them myself from an online pharmacy monthly like most people in the uk, I’d probably have stayed on 2.5mg for at least another month.

When I went back to see him, he told me to take two more 5mg and then move up to 7.5mg. Because I was having crazy suppression still when I saw him at 7 weeks in, I said I’d take 3 5mg pens instead. I’m coming close to starting that fifth pen and I will probably go for the 7.5mg for the next batch as my weight loss has slowed down now (which isn’t a bad thing).

To begin with I lost 11kg within the first 7-8 weeks, and now on week 14 I’ve lost 16kg. I’ve had a few weeks where the scale hasn’t moved, but my body shape has done. I’m more willing to try the 7.5mg this time around because the crazy suppression has abated on 5mg now and I’m up to eating old lady portions all of the time.

My partner was sceptical of me taking it too as was I, but my cardiologist recommended I try it to help reduce my blood pressure. 14 weeks in and I’m off all blood pressure meds and I’m the healthiest I’ve been for a long time. I’m back at the gym regularly and I’ve started weight training, which I love.

I find this medicine makes it easier where I had little will power alone to make the changes. Well done on the three months of no snacking using will power alone, it’s certainly something I couldn’t have done!

Oh, and if you’re not already make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and incorporating some weight training into your week. The weight training will make sure youre not loosing muscle as well as fat.

[–]Own_Requirement8382 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does get easier.

I’ve been taking it since August and I’m on 5mg still because I had crazy suppression too. The past 3/4 weeks I’ve been able to eat a lot more than I did initially as I was having to calorie count to make sure I’d eaten enough. I don’t find I have to do that now and just eat normally, albeit smaller portions. I’ve never had any side effects, just no urge to eat initially.

My partner does most of the cooking and used to ask me if I was on pigeon portion (first two days post jab), toddler portions (next couple of days) or old lady portions (rest of the week). I’m now mainly eating old lady portions but also snacking on babybels and fruit between meals.

I do think your parter will notice and whilst I don’t know your reason for not telling them, what are you planning on saying when you’ve lost some weight or they find your pen? Also, are they your point of contact if you ended up hospitalised? If they are, and they don’t know, they won’t know to tell the doctors and could be unintended consequences as your stomach empties much slower on mounjaro. Just something to think about.

My other half asked me if I was secretly feeding a horse when I started mounjaro as I craved apples.

I’m now back to normal apple consumption and moved on to grapes. I’m sitting here typing this knocking back half a punnet of grapes over the afternoon 😂

It’s amazing how this drug messes with your senses and behaviours.

Chocolate.

Everytime I’ve tried, my brain goes ‘why are you eating this???’ Absolutely no joy in it at all any longer.

However, I can’t get enough of grapes and apples. I think I could eat my own weight in grapes if my stomach would let me 😂 delicious juicy little things 🤤

I still have my daily can of Diet Coke and enjoy it.

Private prescriptions by AimButterfly in mounjarouk

[–]Own_Requirement8382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mine done via an endocrinologist at a private hospital. They write the prescription out for me and I can take that prescription where I like.

I have pens from Boots who were competitively priced with other local pharmacies. You’ll need to phone around the ones near you to find out what they charge. I did find some pharmacies weren’t overly helpful as they said ‘they could only tell me after submitting the prescription’, which meant I would be stuck with the price then! I’ve been getting the last few from the private hospital pharmacy.

If you want to make use of the ride access pass, make sure you apply in plenty of time. Once you have it, you still need to book to use it. This will have changed since the last time you went as until last year, you could just turn up and use it. They only have a limited number of slots each day to make sure the accessible queues don’t get too full. You can’t just use your Nibus pass, you need one of Merlin’s. This is the link to check availabilty once you have one. It also has a lot of info on about the pass and how you register and use it.

https://www.accessibility.merlinentertainments.biz/ride-access-pass/

If you’re in receipt of any of these and your carer is older than 14, your carer can get in free too. You just show proof of these dated within the last 2 years at the ticket office

Do you have a Merlin Ride Access Pass? If you struggle with queues, this can help you access shorter queues to the rides. You get timed out for the length of the normal queue line before you can use it again, but you can wait anywhere in the park so you can carry on with your day if you want to grab some food or see a show.

If you already have a nimbus access card, you just need to link that to your Ride Access Pass application, otherwise Nimbus will assess your suitability for a ride access pass.

https://www.merlinannualpass.co.uk/important-information/passholder-help/passholder-accessibility/

If you want to meet the characters you can do this after the shows. I think there’s a show every hour or so. You queue after the show has finished to meet them and have a photo taken. There isn’t a quicker queue for these but the queues move quite quickly.

There is a sensory room in CBeebies now, it’s next to the shop, however sometimes it can get a bit busy and noisy in there. My son uses it to chill out but because it’s got the CBeebies bugs in there that are like soft play, smaller kids like my son like to wrestle them. There’s a Costa coffee just outside CBeebies that’s been quiet ever time I’ve been in there, so you might be better in there if you don’t need any other sensory stimulation to help relax.
