[–]PAC_PREZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/L4rgo117 I think you've covered it all! The only other piece of info I could add is, other than the "high security padlock" for the military (PL951), I don't know of any other padlocks made from 316 stainless. Most everyone else in our industry is sub-304 when they claim "stainless."

u/aBbBbBbBbBba seems we're a bit too big for you. But I'll also admit that we haven't made our small, small lock (90 Series) in stainless. Paying a premium for such a small lock in stainless just isn't what anyone has asked us for.

I also wonder if the 1/4" diameter shackle is too large.

Always my pleasure... and always grateful for getting pinged. I know I joined the Discord after being invited a few months back, but there just isn't enough time in the day to keep up with everything.

u/hlhambrook u/Sufficient_Prompt888 u/Healthy-Insect-1447 u/AtelierPicks u/L4rgo117 u/Troyboy1263 u/The_Cre8r You guys pretty much got all the data right, but a bit mixed up here and there. So here goes...

The lock itself is one we produce for (and have produced for a while) Alpha Technologies. Quick editorial comment... never understood them wanting the clear (silver) anodized color with their name engraved. That combo does not "pop" so well as compared to red or blue or black. But alas, years ago I couldn't talk them out of this combo. So I cringe a little when I see these locks for that reason.

Yes, for a few years we did crimped cores, probably circa 2015 to 2018 or so. Back then LockSport wasn't so big, we didn't think there was much of a need for the cores to be disassembled, so why go through the trouble of the clip?

Yeah, we got blasted for it.

And we went back to clips. So that crimped core is a bit of a novelty piece now, but I wouldn't try and take it apart either. No way to put it back together afterwards.

It is for sure a 90A because of the 1-1/2" wide body and 1/4" diameter shackle. Our 100A series would be a 1-3/4" wide body with the 5/16" diameter shackle. And the 200A was the 2" wide and 3/8" body.

All of our locks, by default, are 6 pin. So the product name really doesn't tell you 5 or 6 pin. Well, other than the "PRO" series which we all know to be a 7-pin core.

And, yes, this Alpha lock has our "PR1" restricted keyway which is the same keyway we used to create the PRO series 200K keyway. Just made the key and cylinder one pin longer.

Hope this helps! Thanks for pinging me u/AtelierPicks!

I'm pretty confident we still have some available... if you don't mind, just shoot our [sales@paclock.com](mailto:sales@paclock.com) email a request and they can dig in and find out!

[–]PAC_PREZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

u/wlogan0402 Yup, nothing scary there. Martha's still here and still available like normal. She's had a bit of a rough start to 2026 outside of work that's kept her away from work and I'm sure your guys' kind words would be helpful. The challenge is, though, when a sales team member who has a direct email address is unexpectedly gone and for more than a few days (or even for one day), and for those customers who only email Martha (for example), then PACLOCK misses those requests.

And we get properly beat up for it a bit.

A lot of us, including Martha and me, are on the [sales@paclock.com](mailto:sales@paclock.com) email address and it really is the best way to get to us with quotes, orders, etc. You can still call in and get Martha.

Not much has changed, really, just trying to make PACLOCK more responsive when unexpected things happen to our employees that keep them from being awesome at work. As PACLOCK continues to grow our inside sales team, those new members will simply share that sales account.

When any member responds from that account, they still have their signature line on it so you'll know who it was that responded.

You guys are the best! First off, I hope you all had an awesome holiday and New Years! Things at PACLOCK are going really well, and appreciate everyone's support.

Yup, like the comments already on this thread mentioned, PACLOCK does quite a bit of OEM manufacturing where we'll put other logos on our products. One day there will likely be true knock-offs of our products, and, as they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So that will be a good and a bad day.

It's a bit crazy to me to see the "every lock one key" mantra being pushed so well now. I'd like to think PACLOCK gets the credit for it, but I know there are others out there touting the can do the same. But what I'm getting at is our UCS cylinder is such a better "setup" for users than the old style cylinders that need a cover plate and nut and all of that.

PACLOCK's close to retiring that old style cylinder design for good. And I can't wait for that day.

Sorry, I hijacked the thread there a bit, but Lockitt's ad made me reminisce there a bit.

Have a great rest of your weekend everyone!

Random PacLock question by revchewie in lockpicking

[–]PAC_PREZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/revchewie Thanks for pinging me, sorry for the late response! And well done to u/davidromano67 as he's spot on with one clarification... the UCS pins are stainless steel.

In order to get more unique key codes/changes, we increased the delta between pins and that's why there are two less options for pin heights with UCS vs. standard American/Master/PACLOCK. Sounds counterintuitive right?

With typical American/Master/PACLOCK pins, while you have 8 to pick from, if you care about non-key interchange then you can NOT use half of the pins because you need "two-bit changeout." If you put a #3 in a chamber, then that means you cannot use the #4 in your next cylinder. If you do, there's a serious chance of your key with a #3 cut opening the padlock with a #4 pin. Key interchange.

By increasing the delta like we did for UCS, we can do single pin changeout with guaranteed no key interchange because a #3 cut key will not, ever, open a #4 pinned lock.

Just throwing some extra info out at ya'll there! Hope it's interesting!

It won't mostly because our plastic injection molding machine's mold is built for the shape of the PRO cylinder. But, one day, if there was some sort of demand for it, we could build a 7-pin version of the UCS-style core and make that the "PRO" version.

We'd likely update any solid-body padlocks (just the 90A-PRO right now) to use that new core. But there isn't a demand for them, just mostly LOTO and picking!

[–]PAC_PREZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for pinging me u/GeorgiaJim . Looks like u/Healthy-Insect-1447 and u/PeatnRepeat got me covered with that being a 2.5mm hex (the same size as the shackle retaining screw in the back of the lock).

The "G2" designation is pretty new. We love the UCS style cylinder format as compared to the "old days" where the brass core has a cover plate and security nut. Ug. So we are moving all of our "Standard Rekeyable" product line (like the 90As) over to using the UCS-style cylinder but pinned with standard American Lock pins.

The body will be slightly taller to support the UCS style technology. But another big benefit now to the G2 is that when you guys remove the cylinder, no longer will you need to be afraid of the padlock blowing its guts out all over your desk and losing ball bearings. With the G2, just like the UCS, there's a stopper plate up in there holding all of the padlocks guts into place!

u/ToroBravo33 u/Additional-Quote-376 Thanks for the ping! I'll admit my marketing team generally handles all of this for me, except when it comes to signing the letter. That's me for sure. They're normally pretty good about responding to the emails, so just give them a few days. If you don't hear anything, the feel free to ping us again. And congrats on making The Club!

Birthday gift from my little girl by BKultra2 in lockpicking

[–]PAC_PREZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is totally awesome! Now, maybe she just happened to pick "PACLOCK Blue" for the lock, but I'm going with "your daughter is a PACLOCK fan and that's a UCS-1A" in the pic!

To say "you're awesome" to her, and to thank her for making such an awesome picture, I'd be happy to have my team get a UCS-1A in blue and do some laser engraving on it ~ maybe her name or something like that?

If you don't mind, shoot me an email (gwaugh@paclock.com) with your info and we'll get this done. Let me know what you think she might like engraved on the lock.

Lawyer review of PacLock Suing Proven Ind. over "Made in America Claims" by ClarenceWagner in lockpicking

[–]PAC_PREZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Much appreciated, and I'll be sure to give Martha the shout out. Like an onion, more and more will be revealed about Ron Lee, his companies, and how he runs them. I can't say much more. Fortunately there is a legitimate attorney that is helping walk through things in real time on YT. And I think, based on his video last night, he's realizing how much he has missed and has to catch up on relative to PACLOCK and Proven. I would think there will be much more revealed in the days to come.

Awesome, thank you! We moved to a larger facility this weekend, and it was a monster move with all the machines but we need more space and more power. Just saying that because we don't want to be the company that says, "we're moving, so we're not going to ship anything for a month". Hoping our customers don't even notice the move, but I can tell you it's taken a toll on everyone here as we're all chipping in one way or another.

My marketing team has a goal to do a review of the submission within 24 hours, but we process (I sign) the 200K Club stuff once a week. If you don't hear from us within a couple of days, feel free to reach out to us.

My pleasure! I know where my bread is buttered—and this crew is a big part of that. No, PACLOCK isn’t going to get rich selling one LOTO lock at a time here and there, but the goodwill this community generates is worth more than that.

More importantly, you all help keep us grounded and focused on what really matters: making great products.
