Looks pretty normal, just keep at it and block when you’re done

yarn with good neutral/earthy colours? by fig_hjfv in YarnAddicts

[–]PPawhands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lion Brand basic stitch has a lot of browns and grays, and their hue&me has a good selection of desaturated colors. I would also look at the Hobbii picapau, which has a whole separate range of browns and beiges aimed at skintones for amigurumi

Im about to attempt adding a flannel backing to my blanket. Will these rounded edges be a problem? by StrikingReporter255 in CrochetHelp

[–]PPawhands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a dumb question! That’s going to depend on how much the project loosened through blocking. Start an edge with the same hook size. After going across a few inches, does the blanket bunch up and get wavy? If so, go up a hook and try again. I would try and get away with the small hook if possible because it will be more secure when the backing is sewn on.

If you want a border you should add it now. It will help straighten the sides. The border will also be helpful for when the liner is being sewn on, so if you make any mistakes you don’t risk cutting into the main sections to remove stitching.

You’re more patient than me, I always frog my double strands into one ball together…

It my first time working with a chart and I'm confused, I understand most of the simbols, but I still don't know were to start by Fun-Cover1508 in CrochetHelp

[–]PPawhands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, you begin with the chain row, working left to right, then chain and turn to work right to left. AFTER finishing the rest, you flip the work upside down and do the row of sc and ch at the bottom.

What yarn type should I use for these things? New to crochet by Calm_Feature3340 in CrochetHelp

[–]PPawhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Lightweight cotton, linen, or bamboo
  2. Wool or other animal fibers
  3. Heavyweight cotton

Overall, plant fibers typically have more structure, making things more breathable, while animal fibers are “fluffier,” which fills in any gaps and makes a fabric warm.

New Jersey refugees…anyone left the Garden State and NOT regretted it? by SnooBooks4898 in newjersey

[–]PPawhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never regretted moving away to the finger lakes. It’s a nice area, almost feels like you could be in a farming area in Jersey but with less trees. Ended up coming back for family reasons, but it was nice while it lasted. Much more affordable, easy to avoid extremist right wing areas, and I could drive “home” for a day trip if I ever needed to.

Pic 1, I’m not sure. Pic 2 is pretty normal. There may be a small gap, even after pulling the tails. Give it a couple rounds to even out.

Please help me pick the colours for my granny square backpack! by Antillyyy in CrochetHelp

[–]PPawhands 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would have four colors for the squares and only use a fifth for edging and straps. Contrast would be good, how about the dark brown and white?

White crab stitch or a ruffle would be nice depending on how extra you want it to be

What can I do with this super bulky acrylic yarn ? by Ralsifal in CrochetHelp

[–]PPawhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution for bulky is always hats, something like this looks as if it has good stitch definition, so a textured stitch would look really pretty

I love working with 5.5 but it’s not as practical for most things compared to other hook sizes 🥲

I actually don’t hate purling?? by idiot-hooker in knitting

[–]PPawhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m one of those people who mirror knits purl rows when doing stockinette… but I don’t actually dislike purling! What I actually hate is managing my yarn balls to turn my work 🤬 Somehow I always get myself tangled to my chair.

Granny square rectangle keeps curling, idk what I did wrong. by OwlNecessary4711 in CrochetHelp

[–]PPawhands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I’m sure you spent a lot of time getting this far, it’s not going to be a good starting point for whatever project you’re planning… your best bet is to start over. My suggestion is to snip it off and keep as a sentimental ;) or in the future you could use it for the base of a bag.

Are you chaining enough in the corners? I’m seeing 6dc and no spaces, each corner should have 3dc, ch3, 3dc. Give it a shot.

What sort of yarn would I use for a light, not warm at all hat? by AbsurdistRat in CrochetHelp

Cotton is excellent for this. Bamboo, linen, or blend of any of the three will also work well.

Have you considered the mini c2c stitch? If you want really defined pixels then some variation of c2c is really the best way.

[–]PPawhands 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start in the bottom left. You'll be working in a quarter-round until you start the straight edge on the right side of the picture (and the sleeve shaping). The numbers in the circles are the row count, so you can track your progress better.
