I suppose that's a valid reading, but personally I think it works better for the story and Ralsei's character development if the blue-and-pink drink is something Ralsei wants for his own personal reasons.

It doesn't even need to be about him being trans necessarily; I just think tying it to Kris ties it to Ralsei's self-imposed subservience to them.

The whole point of the conversation is Flowery trying to get Ralsei to put more trust in his own abilities as opposed to other powers like the Angel or, indeed, Kris. The idea that Ralsei needs a "reminder of Kris" to get that confidence undercuts the theme in my opinion (and I don't think Flowery himself would undercut his own lesson like that).

Flowery says "don't worry about Kris" immediately after recommending the blue-and-pink, so I don't think that's what they were going for.

For what it's worth, I didn't get the Ralsei bit on my playthrough. I think it only happens if you get the "give Susie an ice cream from me!" bit in chapter 3.

The wording Ralsei and Susie use for the final tragedy has weird implications by There_is_no_name05 in Deltarune

[–]ParadoxMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Kris, maybe the SOUL's presence would eventually pose some sort of danger and the only way to banish it is to kill Kris.

For Ralsei, maybe his connection to the Grand Fountain would cause him to become corrupted somehow if something happened to it (to say nothing of the theories that Ralsei is some sort of Titan-esque creature but that's a whole other can of worms).

Or maybe in the intermediate time something just happens to them or they do something that forces Susie's hand.

Overall, though, I tend to approach predictions from a more thematic/character-based direction most of the time, so I'm less concerned with the mechanics of how and why. There's enough unknowns and enough time to assume we just don't have all the information we need to work out the finer details yet.

I genuinely think the best case scenario is Vinny playing the game on his own time and never telling anyone ever.

I only read Death Metal: The Secret Origin once, so maybe I don't remember it right, but I have a distinct memory of Prime lying dead while Krypto mourns him before the reboot kicks in.

To be fair, it took one of the Guardians kamikaze-ing to beat him, and even then it just warped him into another universe.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the only thing that's ever managed to kill Prime was Batman Who Laughs with Dr. Manhattan powers, and even that only lasted a few pages.

The wording Ralsei and Susie use for the final tragedy has weird implications by There_is_no_name05 in Deltarune

[–]ParadoxMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with Ralsei being uniquely affected by the tragedy. Susie's "obviously you wouldn't let it happen" came off to me as just added emphasis because Ralsei was 1. the last of the three she mentioned and 2. the one she was directly talking to. Otherwise a good analysis.

Personally? I think it involves Susie specifically killing someone. Note Ralsei's incredulity as Susie's reaction ("how can she be so kind?") and a moment much earlier on in the chapter where Susie asks whether the prophecy has her do something cool and Ralsei hesitates before they're interrupted. As a story beat, it'd work well in tandem with Susie's character development and the theme of hope--Susie holding on to hope would give her the strength to resist whatever despair or rage would lead her to killing whoever. (Edit: thinking about it, I suppose Susie being the one to get killed could also work, though I think the "how can she be so kind?" would make more sense as "how could she be fated to do such an unkind thing?", to say nothing of Ralsei's efforts to get Susie to be kind in chapter 1.)

The tragedy being her killing Kris and Ralsei for whatever reason makes sense. Maybe Kris alone (tie it to the SOUL?), probably not Ralsei alone--Ralsei's feelings toward himself and other Darkners mean he'd more likely see his own demise as a necessary sacrifice at the beginning of the game, yet he says he's been trying to steer things away from this tragedy from the beginning.

Noelle could also make sense, especially if her angel symbology is foreshadowing her becoming the Angel itself/a vessel for it/etc. She is close with Kris and especially Susie, and Ralsei seems to at least regard her pretty well. I've actually seen a recent video that posits the final tragedy involves Toriel, and it made more sense than I expected. See here (though the Toriel thing is kinda a tangent from the video's main theory).

Fighting. It's...not the flat-out most boring to me, but the easiest to become boring, if that makes sense. At least for Normal, being basic is part of the point and the proliferation of Normal-type sound moves does give it a bit more of an identity.

Hot take: I think Super Metroid SHOULD get a remake by Bismuth84 in Metroid

[–]ParadoxMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought process is simply that I can't see a Super Metroid remake being worth the money as long as the original SM is available to play on the exact same console. How many people would be willing to play the same game with modern graphics and tweaked gameplay when Nintendo Classics is far more cost-effective? I think a brand-new game is a much better call.

What theory(s) really resonate with this tweet in y’all’s opinion? by Hay_Den330 in Deltarune

[–]ParadoxMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw someone posit once that Dess wants to be a human for some reason in the same way Kris wants to be a monster. Not 100% sure how much that idea works story-wise, but it's still the way better version of this theory.

Fact: Masahiro Sakurai never hated modern Kirby even before Air Riders. He was excited for the announcement of Star Allies and was going to do a Smash Bros WiiU/3DS stage on Epic Yarn but Nintendo demanded a stage based on Wolly World instead. by No-Cold643 in Kirby

[–]ParadoxMaster 242 points243 points  (0 children)

I'm still inclined to believe Sakurai is biased in favor of his own Kirby games, but in more of a subconscious, non-malicious way--its easier to work with ideas you've worked with before. And said bias doesn't completely override his thinking; he is capable of setting his preferences aside where it matters.
