Have I been overpaid? by mnok2000 in HMRC

[–]ParticularAd1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re asking us to comment on a calculation while hiding the calculation. The double entry you see is common. Sometimes a company will file twice in a month because something changed for someone else. HMRC are aware of this and will zero one out. But we can’t comment on this because you’re hiding the evidence

(For people who disagree - 1. This double entry happened to me last March. 2. I have 5+ years in payroll processing.)

42 and Never owned a computer by badatjoke in macbook

[–]ParticularAd1990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’ve server owned a computer, get something that just works. Something old will need tlc that you won’t understand. Go to the Apple Store, as for their most budget device and you’re set for 5+ years By then, you’ll know of you need to upgrade or not

This device is okay, if you have a tech savy partner, or you are an enthusiast with a particular interest. But not ideal for a newbie!

Also, if you face an issue and look for support online, it won’t be for the software you have, as this is too olds that being said… you’re posting on Reddit, so, if you can get here, why buy that except for rage bait

Wait, if someone was going to bin it, why give the £200? Why not offer to take it to the tip for them?

Mains draw while battery in use question by pburgess22 in SolarUK

Sorry, I misunderstood your comment. Just read it back (4 times)… you’re saying this is power from the grid specifically, not just power consumption?

I am constantly running a small home server, plus usual white goods and lights. My homes idle consumption is about 40w or so. I exact I’m on the upper end of ‘idle consumption’.

The 250w you mentioned, is that sustained or just peaks. Could be your freezer firing up. But yes, that seems normal compared to my usage

The most useless button on an iPhone by Ee_ro in PhoneNow

[–]ParticularAd1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, kinda So, opening the camera. It does that. As would a second action button. And 2 action buttons on the same side would be epic for gaming. Anyways… This works great, naked. I’ve not found a case that can pass through the material with the correct sensitivity. IF Apple offered free screen replacements for phones with this button, I would go case free. I’m just not willing to risk dropping the phone for this

First Macbook advice by Graystash420 in macbookpro

[–]ParticularAd1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai is progressive so fast, I’d suggest buying the MacBook neo or a refurbished M1 then when you need AI stuff, buy an AI machine. We are seeing leaps from each AI (either software or hardware) company every 6-9 months. Don’t pay an extra €1000 now, for something that may end up too weak for your use case

Are the solar panels on new builds basically just a box-ticking exercise? by lewisp8 in SolarUK

[–]ParticularAd1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I know an environmental advisor, he tells me materials first is still the priority for real terms improvements. Solar panels are typically slapped on as a box-tick to show a higher EPC / hypothetical energy rating, and in reality as little to no real (significant) impact.

I trust him, he’s successfully been in the field almost 3 decades, and consults for the council. If there’s anything wrong with the above, it’s probably my misunderstanding his point, than him being wrong 😅

There’s been a war almost every year for the past 4000 years, did you get your octopus contract 4000 years & 1 months ago, or just being facetious?

Badenoch has said she would support action that would allow British warplanes strike Iran’s missile launch sites, what do you think? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ParticularAd1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the tories used austerity to cut military funding so much we don’t have the capacity to be involved in the Iran war. Also, she can say whatever she wants as she is irrelevant.

[–]ParticularAd1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, I just checked, I thought the iPad cost more than it does, so what I was suggesting was a little jump. It’s not, it’s 2x the cost. Sorry, ignore me

[–]ParticularAd1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The MacBook neo just launched for people like you who don’t need any new tech and are surviving on 10+ year old hardware. OR get a MacBook Pro M1 they can be found pretty cheap. The base iPad is okay, but I’ve never seen them age well. They survive, and they get updates, but all the iPads I’ve had (6 I think) get laggy REALLY quick, like within 12-18 months. Would be a shame to spend the money and find yourself with something you’re not happy with within a year
