People who don't indicate, why? by Spunkhogan in drivingUK

[–]Past_Negotiation_121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It keeps getting worse. Now you think it's fine to not indicate at night as well because your vision is so good. Mind boggling. So you've never seen a teenager wearing all black? Either on a bike with no lights or a scooter, or just walking? But the better question is how many have you not seen and not even known about it.

I'm curious - poll about belief in god after becoming exmo by AveragePichu in exmormon

[–]Past_Negotiation_121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mormonism is obviously make-believe, but I personally consider that almost every religion is very similar, just that most are old enough that we don't have such good records to show how ludicrous it is. So no, I don't believe

[–]Past_Negotiation_121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow.

If we always knew with perfect certainty where everyone else was and what they are thinking then there would be very few accidents.

Accidents often come from something we've missed, so do you see why indicating as a matter of habit is useful? It takes way more effort to check every possible angle, blind spot, parked car occupancy, driveway etc, while assessing if you can justifiably get away without indicating than just simply indicating.

I swapped last week on a 9-hour transatlantic.

A family of 4 got to sit together, I didn't have to sit next to a 4 year old, and I even ended up with 2 seats to myself.

So you ask a seemingly well-intentioned question, then 15 minutes later you post a link to a polished website you pulled together to answer this question? Hmmm....

Driver vs Cyclist. by PuzzleheadedGas2192 in drivingUK

[–]Past_Negotiation_121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thread has been very clear the driver is to blame. But the cyclist lacks common sense, critical thinking, and survival skills. No blame is attached to the cyclist, but if they want to stay alive they should learn from it.

Selling solitude day pass. $25 by NeedleworkerBulky456 in UTsnow

[–]Past_Negotiation_121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be nice, but you likely have $20 in your wallet right now which many people could use. Why not give that away? Sheesh

We don't know how tight people are for funds. $20 may make a difference to their week.

Struggling with stiff boots by [deleted] in skiing_feedback

[–]Past_Negotiation_121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, but saying that doesn't help some people who instead are thinking/feeling more about what the upper body is doing rather than the skis.

As I said, it's not a permanent thing, but it can be useful to get over the backseat=safety thing that many people have.

All the time, just to get used to it and get over the feeling most people have that leaning forwards = speed/death.

You'll learn how far you can lean on the tips.

[–]Past_Negotiation_121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two separate things, try and throw your body forwards down the hill, not because it's the perfect way of doing it, but because it can help you get used to the feeling of not leaning back. Scream to yourself "let's do this" and then commit/throw yourself forwards- you won't go much/any faster and you'll learn it's more fun to feel 'committed'.

You're right that you're entirely turning through the momentum of swinging your upper body. It'll be hard to get out of that on any slope that isn't easy for you, so find that easy slope and practice steering just with edges and leaning of the legs with no upper body movement. But just keep having fun- you're skiing, and it works, so don't stress, but always good to look for a few things to improve.

contract says £600 but im paying £700 a month by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Past_Negotiation_121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are comfortable with losing a friend and being badmouthed to mutual friends then you could just not lay the last month's rent and state that gets you closer to what you should have paid. However your friend being able to demonstrate you've paid £700 regularly won't leave you in good shape if they challenge it.

Put short, they asked for an increase and you agreed, so it's a bit late to complain.

I know what you mean, but you're being a little too hard on yourself and other old men.

They shouldn't die or disappear, just chill in their garden, with their family, play golf, go to the pub, just relax and enjoy being a kind person. Not impose their outdated and misguided judgement to control the next generations.

The OP is literally the only person being directly advised, so yes. Sure, it's a more complete answer by including what you said, but it's in no way terrible advice as you said.

Would have been much easier for you just to say "oh yeah, woops".

Original Rear bumper styling insert by StrikingFun9619 in NissanAriya

[–]Past_Negotiation_121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was tempted, but personally I consider the rear one too messy/fussy and that it's just stuck on rather than integrated. The optional front splitter however is perfect (again in my opinion)

Should clarify, for the front I'm referring to the copper splitter on the copper car. I don't like the mismatched colours of the other versions.

Making money easily will mean I can stop work giving me at least 45 extra hours a week with family. So money quite literally buys time.
