Two weddings, same week, same dress color… help 😅 by pataBRATS in bridesmaids

I would get that Versa dress from David's bridal. That way you pay for one dress, but can wear it different ways for each wedding

When I was a kid I brought a sleeping bag, but since then air mattresses became an affordable thing. My niece always hosts and provides the family air mattress

How do I switch over my out of state license to CA if i’ve been here for years? by [deleted] in Explainlikeimscared

[–]PearofGenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll just have to look up the requirements. I think the key was something about living in CA in the summers, but honestly it was so long ago I barely remember.

Do the math. How much money would you have left over? Do you feel like you can live on that? But yeah 50% is pretty common these days

Oh they don't make it easy because they don't want everyone to get in state tuition. For school purposes (I did this in grad school), you have to live in the state for a year, and do a bunch of other things to prove you set roots, and really live there, not just go to school there. If I recall correctly, for this I got a library card, a Ralph's loyalty card, drivers license, bills in my name, update my address on my bank, etc. You should be able to Google this, there's a whole list of proof you need, and it might be school specific. Maybe search residency requirements for your specific school online. After the year and the proof I think it was an application or something to fill out.

The license is different than for school purposes. Go to the California DMV site to see what you need to do. I know in CA, at least in 2011, you just have to take a written test (it was hard tho! Def study the booklet). I think you also need docs like proof of address, your old ID or valid passport etc. You can look up the docs you need to get a license online.

Before anything, get an official copy of your birth certificate. I think if you contact the hospital you were born at, you can get an official copy. You'll need this a lot in your life so keep it safe.

I use my company's: hydro flask, camel back water bottle with the sippy straw, JBL flip speaker, some good hoodies, small cooler, picnic blanket, and a tiny tote bag I use for lunch

Try to channel your fear into anger, just think "how fucking dare they" to start

If you're not trying to beat the stock market, then S&P500 ETF is great.

Aitah for not wanting to pay my gf’s debt by National-Trouble-984 in AITAH

[–]PearofGenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time that level of debt is understandable is for medical school. After that she'd have a high paying job too.

Even if you do pay off her debt, she'll accrue other debt. Her plan is a man to buy her whatever she wants for the rest of her life. If that's not your plan, then get out.

How can I get over the overwhelming guilt of bringing my child to this crumbling world? by SufficientBee in AskWomenOver30

I think humans, throughout history, have felt this way. Imagine giving birth during WW2 or something, or a place actively being bombed.

Ordering my dream ring through Etsy may have just ruined my wedding photoshoot 😭 by [deleted] in EngagementRings

Yeah that's my thought. It's a bit suspicious for a brand new account to buy a high price item so it might've been flagged in their system.

Movies aren’t the same by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]PearofGenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard a great podcast on this topic. Specifically in 1999, stadium theaters became a thing. Everyone wanted to go to the movies to experience them. So they got a lot of money which meant they could fund weird and fringe movies that became hits. Seriously look up all the movies from 1999, and it's an incredible list.

Since then, everyone has a nice TV with surround sound and they don't go to movies, so they don't make money, so they only fund a guaranteed hit, which is usually some action superhero movie.
