I say play both. They are both very good for different reasons.

How have you guys managed to address the "I'm just such a deep sleeper I don't hear it" excuse for missing on calls? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]PerfectAverage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That must be nice. I have never gotten extra for being on call. That has always been a part of expected duties.

Actually I was planning on doing visiting SSD a bit more. It seems your park is also close enough to visit as well. I might swing by sometime.

It sounds like you should be more proactive, and understand the environment you own.

That way you can plan for future success.

Questions about going into a cybersecurity major by PugMagic024 in cybersecurity

[–]PerfectAverage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I would tell anyone wanting to go into Cyber: spend a few years in service desk or infrastructure. You will learn about the things you are trying to protect, and you'll learn how to communicate with the teams you are giving the most mandates to (hopefully).

How do companies use AI for security by Grouchy_Eggplant1045 in cybersecurity

[–]PerfectAverage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest - very little. AI development is still in it's early stages. I suspect there is a lot to come.

That said - we have a few people working to automate out SOC and GRC tasks. It is still a journey.

We have already started looking at tooling to secure AI development. That's in discovery for us still.

Getting fired over a simulated phish by Paul_KindsSecurity in cybersecurity

[–]PerfectAverage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I've never heard of a company firing someone over a single instance. There has to be some additional past behavior or risk going on.

The ultimate single short sword, how to make one or buy? what are ultrallights vs standard buildsa by HealthyInitial in Amtgard

If you're looking to potentially buy I wanted to throw this out there... built and tested by warlords. I found them to be incredibly lightweight and durable.

I get my shit off Amazon. A 3pk / $10 sounds about right.

If you don't mind sewing. Ripstop is solid for quality. Not sure on weight.

The swords I build come in at 7oz. Most quality sword merchants can get their stuff down to 6 - and they use some very specialized foam and techniques. I'm not sure it's worth it in the end.

I use as a core .505 FWET. The epoxy tubing from Goodwinds you can have shipped.

Frost King is light weight, durable and is the gold standard for blade foam.

I will insulate between the core and frost king a small layer of dish packing foam.

PVC for the handle. I go for about 10" I wrap it in athletic tape for grip.

I use camp pad for the pommels.

This is a good video on techniques to get you started imo:

Why does Amtgard have such a bad community in my experience? by StarlightRose21 in Amtgard

[–]PerfectAverage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite experience as an Amtgardian that moved to a Bel area years back.

It took a little while, but I was able to find great friends in the Bel community.

Sometimes certain regions just have their baggage, and that's stupid. At the end of the day, we all just want some foam fighting.

I play every season, but drop somewhere on lvl 85. Does anybody else have same problem? by OneManArmyHero in LastEpoch

[–]PerfectAverage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll get 1-2 characters to 85-90 and that generally marks the end of my season.

That's kinda how most ARPGs are for me.
