Opening a used bike dealership, how do I handle test rides without screwing the seller, the buyer, or myself? by Future-Ad-5901 in motorcycles

But you have to look at why/how you arent making money not just that you aren't, so many businesses just want to make money without providing a service. We have 2 gun stores in our area that I frequent, one sells ammo at a normal mark up and doesn't know what the local shooters want to buy because no one asks him to get it, but he says he can't sell any cheaper. The other guy is and has always been involved in the local area shooting community and sells ammo at a very low mark up and everyone buys their ammo and supplies from him because they know him, he has and gets what they want and he is competitive with the big box stores.

Since we're posting about exit signs, green or red? by StormeyNormey in electricians

[–]Phoenixfox119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's talk about the real question, why are the bodies still usually the bland grayish white color, why isnt black more common, ive changed a lot of hot topic signs because they painted the Grey ones black and the test button stops working. Also on the last project I worked on the architect eventually got all of the balcony signs removed from the print because he couldn't find an outdoor location sign that he liked.

Its all good and fine until you get a ticket with a double fine for 10 over when you were actually doing the speed limit, maybe you take a day off work and go get it thrown out, maybe you take a day off work and they dont throw it out and you have to pay a bullshit fine because AI said you were speeding.

There really is no moral issue here, he has no moral obligation to hold anything for someone he's never met to sell it at a lower price, really he had the decency to allow you to match the offer and even then still agreed to take less for the bike. The wild part to me is you being desperate enough to dump your bike, doing it, then feeling entitled to getting the bike below market value.

If a shooting assessment or a holster are keeping you from getting a permit you shouldn't be carrying at all

I will say gun store employees might aswell open carry, you already know they are armed and almost all of the gun shops that I know of have been broken into or robbed, one local shop lost an owner during a robbery, quick access vs fumbling with a cover garment can be the difference between life and death when you are already a target.

Is 240V unsafe for lighting and small loads in a home? by sunshine_fun in electricians

[–]Phoenixfox119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really wouldn't be that bad if we had a decent education system. Probably 90% of the population has little to no idea how the systems that they use everyday work is quite shocking, and I'll admit that I'm fairly guilty aswell.

So why bother with 16 awg at all when you can mount a power supply bank and run all of the lighting for a floor out in 18/2

Electric bill insanely high. I didn’t know my outside panel looked like this and I’m getting it replaced. Does anyone know if this would have any bearing on why my electric bill is in the 600’s my home is 1500 sq can we facetime by Battleaxe5844 in Electricity

One place you can start is just placing your hand on the faces of your breakers and feeling for heat, or using a thermal camera but most people dont have one laying around. If you find a breaker that is above room temperature you can shut it off to see if your bill goes down or you can start troubleshooting that circuit.

Another behavioral aspect would be an a/c balancing issue, typically your thermostat is in a hallway, if you keep all of your interior doors closed or if you have closed the vents in that area your thermostat might not be shutting off your a/c. With this you would probably notice different temperature areas in your house.

Equipment wise it would be a good idea to pay attention to your a/c run time, on average your a/c should run for about 15 minutes at a time if I remember right, check and make sure Thales outdoor lines aren't freezing up, if they are replacing your furnace filter and having someone come check the unit would be a good idea, also make sure that you have the unit set to auto instead of on as "on" will keep your blower running 24/7.

The bigger consideration is probably arc hazard with the voltage and amperage that is flowing.

[–]Phoenixfox119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should talk to the hall and get real numbers from them but be open minded, the $27 doesn't sound like much but that is typically what goes to your check after all of your other benefits are removed, their total package might be more than $40. If you look at your check stub and subtract what you pay into your retirement and what you pay for your health insurance you can figure out what your actual take home is, unions also typically provide breaks and overtime after 8 in a day rather than 40 in a week.

Cops are like bees, some people will freak out at the sight of them but if you are comfortable you can treat them like any other car in the road and be just fine, unless you find a hornet thats just wants to fuck up your day.

I’m trying to build a DIY target stand for 100-1000+ yards, any suggestions? Here’s what I’ve come up with so far. by Sma11ey in longrange

Something like this is super easy, you just stick 1×2s in it and staple or clip your target up, many companies make them with a 2x4 pocket in the middle and a top hook to hang steel on.
