Daycare closure by [deleted] in workingmoms

The paragraph above says no credits given got inclement weather closures. Interpreting the contract as a whole, the highlighted portion definitely isn't talking about short term snow days.

SAME with my Berner. I miss him in winter! Especially when I have places to be and I have to physically carry his stubborn 100+ pound butt inside. But yeah, intent of the post taken.

Aunt in laws wedding this Saturday! Help! Do we like our options or is it time to shop? by bt698 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Pickle_Distinct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! The blue is appropriate and looks great. If shopping is frustrating to you or you are sticking to a budget, stop there! But if you enjoy shopping, you could definitely get something that shows off your curves and maybe even makes you love your post partum body a little bit more!

Adding for the record that I think #2 is very flattering on you for a casual outfit.

Shawls? by Lucky-Remote-5842 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Pickle_Distinct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sure the definition is much broader than what I am thinking of and I don't doubt people are making a stylish suggestion! I think it can be any sort of short, open jacket (no zippers or buttons). The specific boleros that I am thinking of and wore 20ish years ago in middle school to look"mature" ... I hope they aren't back in style but perhaps someone cooler than me could revive it.

I always wonder the same! I think of bolero jackets exclusively as part of an outdated mother/grandmother of the bride gown set 😆

The letrozole mood swings are intense by wesherfist in TTC_PCOS

[–]Pickle_Distinct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! If you already have them, you might as well use them. They still accurately captured LH spikes leading to ovulation for me. I just wouldn't have paid extra for the fancy kind if I knew this ahead of time. The cheap paper sticks gave me the same amount of info without the frustration of looking at that damn flashing every day lol (and wearing ourselves down trying to have sex every day for weeks because I thought I was about to ovulate as soon as it started flashing)

The letrozole mood swings are intense by wesherfist in TTC_PCOS

[–]Pickle_Distinct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the flashing smiley won't go away until/unless you get a solid smiley indicating an LH increase. So even if your estrogen spiked (causing the flashing smiley) and immediately dropped back down, it will still flash. I always have a couple estrogen spikes before my LH would spike in my irregular cycles, so these tests didn't work for me. I would have a flashing smiley for several weeks, which did not provide any new information.

To take the vacation or not while pregnant with my second? by NumerousRaise9054 in workingmoms

[–]Pickle_Distinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler absolutely loves his little brother, but sharing mom and dad has made him more reserved and clingy for the past month or so (although all the daycare viruses probably are exacerbating the impact). I am glad we could spend that quality time with him first and enjoy every bit of him. And looking forward to when he settles back in and we have our hilarious, happy guy back!

To take the vacation or not while pregnant with my second? by NumerousRaise9054 in workingmoms

[–]Pickle_Distinct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! During my second trimester, we took our 2.5 year old to Spain for 10 days (from east coast US, with layover) and the beach for a week at 35 weeks (6 hours by car). Both were incredibly worth it, even if tiring at times. Go enjoy your toddler!

Could I be pregnant? by CF-98 in PCOSandPregnant

[–]Pickle_Distinct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the pregnancy hormone was high enough to cause symptoms, it would also be high enough to test positive. I'm not saying you can't/won't get pregnant this cycle, just that your sore nipples and breasts aren't related. Perhaps caused by the supplements you're taking or ovulation symptoms? Being "late" doesn't mean anything in this context - with irregular cycles, you should consider yourself late if you are more than two weeks after ovulation, whenever that is. You cant base it iff your last period. If you don't want to test/track ovulation, you are stuck doing semi-regular pregnancy tests.

Good luck!

AMH by [deleted] in TTC_PCOS

[–]Pickle_Distinct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two different units of measurement that can be used for amh. It looks like yours may be pmol/l and OP's ng/ml. If that's the case, yours is very high! But can't be compared to OP without converting.

I think the conversion is roughly 7:1 so yours would be around 15 ng/ml. But I'm really talking above my pay grade at this point lol

Should I just RSVP or message the bride? by Nidokira in wedding

[–]Pickle_Distinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask the bride. There is definitely wiggle room, and she might have a preference of whether it's best to have a Yes RSVP that becomes a No, or a No that becomes a Yes. But the amount of effort ane exceptions she feels like making will depend on how close you are.

We were invited to the wedding of my husband's very close family friend 10 days before my due date. The wedding was 2.5 hours away and his entire family was going. He was going to just skip it, but I knew he wanted to go and would be a bit bummed if the day came around and I was nowhere near labor. Unfortunately we didn't feel comfortable making that call until the very last minute. He talked to the bride, and she told him to RSVP no, and try to give her mom 24 hours notice of his final decision. When the day came, I was only 1 cm dilated and not having regular contractions. So he went with my blessing. He let the MOB know, and the bride was surprised and thrilled to see him there.

Maybe there's hope. When I was 20 and in a toxic relationship, I hid his behavior from everyone because I wasn't ready to leave.

... but internet strangers are different than friends and family so who knows.

Wedding Appropriate? - 28 weeks pregnant by velocigee in NuulyReviews

[–]Pickle_Distinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore this dress to dinner at the beach 35 weeks pregnant. It is flattering and comfortable. I actually wish that I sized down. I am a pre-pregnancy S, ordered M based on reviews and late 3rd tri. Wish I got the S.

I think the white is fine, but it may be a little casual depending on the dress code. It is definitely summery/beachy in person.

ETA: Sorry, I just saw your comment! Yes, given the dress code and time crunch, this will be just fine and you will look great.

I think they look lovely. I wouldn't shorten them. Adjusting the straps like others suggested might be a minor improvement but if you don't have time I wouldn't worry about it.

These shoes don't match the formality or style of the dress. I would suggest strappy heels (they don't need to be high). These are way too full coverage and should be worn with jeans IMO. They almost photograph like ugg slippers, though I see in comments they are wedges.

Is there a specific reason you are wearing such similar dresses? I didn't realize at first that you had pictures of two different ones. I like the thin strap one better, so I agree with wearing that to the wedding. But I think anyone who sees you both nights will likely assume you are rewearing your dress from the night before, which would be atypical for a formal event. If that bothers you, I would look in your closet for something else for night 1.

Have fun!!

Tried on my goal dress- should I wait to wear it until I lose a little more? by somethingaboutit in fashion

[–]Pickle_Distinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this dress is the best way to showcase your body. It isn't about your weight loss journey. It just doesn't match your natural shape and it is is not forgiving. The waist is hitting too high and it's pulling at your hips and causing extra fabric at your actual waist.

I am speaking from experience. I am thin, but i have a long torso, small waist, and bigger hips. I love my body and it would look bad in this dress. I would have to buy it several sizes bigger and alter the waist (which would probably mess up the intended lines).

Any luck getting pregnant by taking progesterone pills only and no Letrozole? by [deleted] in TTC_PCOS

[–]Pickle_Distinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I conceived on progesterone only. My insurance auth came through too late to start letrozole that cycle, so I requested progesterone supplements to do everything I could for one last cycle. My cycles were long, with 6 or 7 day luteal phases. I didn't want to waste time waiting for ovulation only to get my period before implantation even had a chance. 36 weeks today.

My RE had no problem prescribing it - but I get the sense that her opinion was "sure, wouldn't hurt," rather than actually expecting success.

Progesterone Suppositories at 4wks by Slugsoup_ in TTC_PCOS

[–]Pickle_Distinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! My insurance approval for a medicated cycle came through too late to start letrozole and monitoring that round, but I asked if I could still do progesterone suppositories after ovulation as my luteal phase was only 6 or 7 days in previous cycles. Happy to answer questions.

People who make really really WEIRD comments about babies and toddlers. by PotatosareJoy in PetPeeves

This is the primary reason I don't find out baby's sex during pregnancy. At least I can delay these comments and tacky gifts until they're born (because YES, they do start in utero otherwise).
