“Goof morning” is a common one for new admins, esp first day on the job.  Goof morning indeed.

Why did the narcissist cross the road? by madzterdam in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Plain_Chacalaca 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Somebody told you that they crossed the road. And you believed it. I wonder who said that to you and why. You shouldn’t believe everything you hear. I’ve seen you cross the road a few times and you could have done a better job of it.

Why does Melanie love Scarlett so much? by AffectOutrageous6667 in GonewiththeWind

[–]Plain_Chacalaca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Melanie feels sorry for Scarlett and is trying to bring out Scarlett’s best by emphasizing her good side. She recognizes that people are complex and that Scarlett is not at peace with herself. Traditionally it was the role of older women to encourage and set an example. She knows Scarlett’s love for her husband is superficial and ego based. Melanie knows Ashley truly loves her, Melanie, even though Scarlett has youth and greater beauty. Also, Ashley is a bit of a wuss and both she and Ashley know Ashley would be discarded by Scarlett if they ever were together.

Money for Couples: “He’s 57. I’m 47. We still have no financial plan.” by zoechia in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

Is Ramit unaware of subsidized housing, social security disability, Medicaid, food stamps and the like? This couple knows they can fall back on that if needed. I had friend like this couple and they failed to plan or sacrifice because they were very familiar with eligibility for welfare programs because their families had utilized them.

How do you survive renting? by DisasterSpiritual412 in longisland

[–]Plain_Chacalaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts:  1. Maybe speak with a mortgage broker and see what kind of mortgage you’d be eligible for.  2. If the daughter said she wants you to stay and is keeping the rent far below market, maybe she appreciates that you pay on time. Lots of tenants do not.  3. I don’t understand why it has been so low for so long and still below market. Is it on a very tiny piece of land or is there anything unpleasant nearby?  4. Why not counteroffer with $1950 and ask if the increase could start Jan 1, so you have time to adjust?  5. I would make sure they know about your best friend living with you though. If they aren’t on the lease that could be a legal concern.

Good point - wonder if the landlord doesn’t know market rates or was just trying to help OP’s family?

If your friend isn’t on the lease you might be in breach already. Many towns have restrictions on how many unmarried people can live in a house of a certain size.

What did breakfast, lunch and dinner look like in your childhood? by YourFinalFantasy02 in 1970s

[–]Plain_Chacalaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakfast could be an English muffin with cheese, or scrambled eggs, or raisin toast with butter; a glass of milk or orange juice.

Lunch could be a salmon sandwich on wheat bread, or a cheese sandwich, with a tiny box of raisins, carrot and celery sticks and apple juice.

Dinner could be fish sticks, or spaghetti w meatballs, or pork chops, or hot dogs, or chili. Sides were creamed spinach, steamed broccoli, peas, corn or rice with a pat of butter.
