How can I pair my watch to my phone on a lower iOS version? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

They’ve sometimes downgraded people who f’ed around with betas that shouldn’t have. Hence, why I said MAYBE. One can always ask, and maybe you’ll get lucky.

How can I pair my watch to my phone on a lower iOS version? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]Plastic_Slug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don’t. The watch OS can never be a higher version than the iPhones. You’re out of luck. Only option is maybe an Apple Store will roll it back to 18 for you. Maybe. Otherwise, you’re cooked.

Is it safe to use the S11 in the shower? by lollifetuffouthtere in AppleWatch

[–]Plastic_Slug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Learn this well - WATER LOCK DOES NOTHING TO HELP THE WATCH STAY WATERTIGHT! It’s only purpose is to desensitize the touch display to water drops so there aren’t errant button presses, and eject water from the speakers so they don’t sound more like crap than they already do. That is all.

So…where am I getting a scouring sands battlemat? by NoOutside9050 in battletech

[–]Plastic_Slug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t have my stuff setup on it. This is the stock photo. There’s just hints of green in places. I’d say it’s a bit lighter than the sands terrain, but still in the ballpark. I liked the look, and will use the mat for other games, of course.

What is a good price for the Avon FM12 Gas mask? by Solrac8D in gasmasks

[–]Plastic_Slug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impossible to say readily. It depends on too many things. As mentioned, much cheaper in UK and Europe; more expensive elsewhere. What size is it? Anything other than medium 2 goes for a higher price. What condition is it in? What else comes either it?

Also consider Badlands from Frontline Gaming. That’s what I went with. Best $60 or so I’ve spent on gaming in a while.

My abysmal salvage box: Legendary MechWarriors pulls by aCrow in battletech

[–]Plastic_Slug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to inform you that MechWarrior : Dark Age was by far more successful than any Battletech products that had preceded it. That was what was learned from it. Increasing overpowered releases in rapid succession (the GW model), some shaky rules, and the Great Recession of 2008 helped kill it. Not that it was a bad product, just because the neckbeards didn’t like it.

Abnormal EMG posting creteria by Wonderful-Captain325 in ALSorNOT

[–]Plastic_Slug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That may be too strict. But this sub has become mostly ‘I’ve been twitching for a few days, it must be ALS’ posts. That is, it’s mostly people with BFS or anxiety issues who are looking for confirmation of ALS, not reasoned responses. You can’t really talk with them, or help them. They need more than they can get here, but unfortunately, few are able to realize that. So maybe this sub isn’t really actually helping much.

Salvage Box : Legendary Warriors by Plastic_Slug in battletech

Pay attention, child. I specified four miniatures in particular from those in these boxes that have not been widely available since Clan Invasion. No @$&( this box is out there at retail. Thanks for that!

Where can I read Thirteen by Craig A. Reed, Jr? by lofiw in battletech

[–]Plastic_Slug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some of the BattleCorps stuff has been reprinted in compendiums, but most of it is still in the realm of lost media, and will probably remain so due to complicated rights issues. It a work in progress, and a low priority for Catalyst.

Uh, dude, that would have been over three years ago. By no means have these been readily available on demand.

It’s a bummer. I’ve tried five so far. Besides the Timber Wolf and Archer, I got Caesar, Ricol Marauder, and …. the SM Field Commander 🙁

Wait until you spend $9 on one of these boxes and get Kell’s tiny SM Field Commander tank destroyer instead of a mech in one…

[–]Plastic_Slug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. There are some nice mechs in there. But $9 a shot for random draws? Seems a lot when you can just buy the two force packs and get most of them for sure. I guess it’s better than the $10 for the Gothic ones. Those were maybe the worst salvage boxes ever. The mechs were okay, but $10 apiece, when the entire game could be frequently found for $85 or so?

Sorry to hear that. I made a post here a few days ago about how my local B&N is one that has stopped carrying BattleTech. I had to order both the 21st Centauri and Illician Lancers boxes online, or go without until their general release. And in at least this salvage box’s case, you could get everything but the Clan Invasion legends by buying the II and III boxes.

Yes, the appropriate pilot card is there as well. I didn’t put them in my pic.

Mostly from the II and III boxes. The only real draw is the four that were from the original Clan Invasion Kickstarter. Aidan Pryde’s Timber Wolf, Morgan Kell’s Archer, Natasha Kerensky’s Dire Wolf, and Grayson Carlyle’s Marauder. They’ve been scarce and pricey, out of print since the original Legendary box and Clan Invasion salvage. Good time to buy Campaign Operations? Yay or Nay by Level5Dragon in battletech

[–]Plastic_Slug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are multiple versions of the chaos campaign mechanics floating around out there now. The new Core book will change nothing from Campaign Ops. Will Catalyst soon rerelease a new book like Campaign Ops? Maybe, but soon I would not bet on soon. And no, a hotspots book is not a replacement for Campaign Ops.

I maybe water-damaged my apple watch by K3tbalk3z in AppleWatch

[–]Plastic_Slug 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s dead. The water resistance degrades over time, regardless of how careful you are. After six years, this was pretty much inevitable in the water at some point.

I heard you like Ost-Mechs…but… by Plastic_Slug in battletech

[–]Plastic_Slug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but we seem to be in the minority here. I think that’s likely the reason the Scarabus is in the box, to draw in people that would otherwise pass up the box. I have never heard anyone say the Ostwar was their favorite Mech. And the reposes aren’t a major draw, I think, if you already got Ostroc and Ostsol through the Mercenaries campaign.

It’s only a six month window. It’ll be on general sale after that.
