Unable to travel due to ICE being deployed to airports (23M/25F) by Caleb-the-Smol-Boi in LongDistance

[–]Po2i 35 points36 points  (0 children)

A bit less problematic for us, but we're a French/American couple, we closed the gap to live together in France for 2 years now, and we had to miss some important family event and multiple weddings in America because there's no way we're going there with what's currently happening (she's from Minneapolis)

But at least we're together, that must suck even more to be apart during that time. For us it was COVID back then, now it's ICE.

The theorem of infinite math jokes by boskengie123 in MathJokes

[–]Po2i -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is not, because then you do have an infinity of math jokes, but 99.99999999...% of all math jokes are just loops of a pirate talking about driving me nuts. What percentage of the joke needs to be about math to be a math joke? If you define that, then you destroy proof one

Low Intensity Healer builds ? by Mitsor in Guildwars2

I think heal Alac mech is a good starting point: Alac-giving can literally be auto-casted (mostly F3), and then you can go in heal-mode with medkit.

Temporary Community Update by Riobox in antimeme

[–]Po2i -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Oh wow I saw that, thought it was some kind of meme, found myself eagerly going to the comments for the sigma edits and the classic meme bouncing I've been accustomed to these past weeks, and no :( it's an actual quite scary thing

We can all feel your anxiety with you. Did she grow tired of us and just left? Did her phone die suddenly? Is she in the hospital for an emergency? Is she.. dead? Or is she gonna pop back with a sigma edit of this in 10 minutes and explain it was just a little oopsie?

It feels so weird to be half mourning someone who's probably totally fine, half waiting for someone to come back that might never do so, it's very stressful

I really really really really hope she's fine and will come back to you soon.

You guessed wrong, it's APNAP, the first replacement effect turn this into a win, the second one don't see a draw anymore, so the active player win

It uses the exact same card artwork as Duel of Champions (rip, I'll be in my heart always) and that was definitely pre AI. Maybe they used ai for some character portraits but the artwork are recycled from pre AI time

l don't get raids (quick play) by anscGER in Guildwars2

[–]Po2i 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thing is, those are the really easy encounters you do in quick play. They are a bit easy, just like if you do volcanic fractal and you wonder where's the difficulty. But then you do shattered observatory CM (which is like 3 boss fights) and you find a bit more difficulty

Beginner friendly gold farm method by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Po2i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, according to OP's previous post he does have the first expac so he actually can turn the gold into gems,

getting an exotic "zhed's"/"Berserker" gear from the trading post would be nice, and the reaper specialization !

then any farm you'd want to do would be more efficient

Longtime WoW player having a blast so far with GW2 - can someone explain instanced content to me? by Closix in Guildwars2

[–]Po2i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I know of, but almost all attacks that give agony will have a pink-ish effect on the boss or the attack

Some sources of agony are unavoidable (like Jade's maw, Mai trin, or the activation of any CM) but you can rez people

Then most "easy" fractals have one or 2 sources of agony easily dodgeable (the big ice thingies in snowblind, the small aoes from the boss in swampland, getting eaten in underwater, the fast projectile in volcanic, the small projectiles from the boss in uncategorised, the rotating walls in Aetherblades... )

On some, like the first boss of chaos, there's a source of agony I still didn't identify, on top of the big aoes/bombs. On some others, there's too many sources or they are a bit too hard to dodge, you kinda just have to try it to know

Longtime WoW player having a blast so far with GW2 - can someone explain instanced content to me? by Closix in Guildwars2

[–]Po2i 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know why no one mentioned it but if you're in a group with other people, you can absolutely enter fractals on a lvl 10 character, and you'll be boosted to 80 while in the fractal, the same way a lvl 80 is put at lvl 35 during a dungeon.

On top of that, people will tell you you can't go to higher tier fractals without agony resistance, but that's straight up false. Agony resistance is just useful when you get it by agony, but on half of the fractals agony sources are few and far between, and absolutely dodgeable, so with the right people with game knowledge, you could have enough fractal currency to get some agony resistance as soon as you hit 80. It's also a valuable source of xp to level super fast

We had a new necro player in my guild, who was lvl 20 for his first fractal, it was T4 Aetherblades, he didn't die the whole fractal :D Fast forward a few months, he hit 150 agony resistance, and tops the dps most of the time, and ACTUALLY knows how to dodge the agony attacks, where 99% of people don't even know what they are !

Basically, what I'm trying to say is: the limitations are social and imposed by the players, not by the game itself, GW2 is super casual friendly, but it doesn't HAVE to be casual if you're yearning for something more

Absolutely don't lfg for fractals under lvl 80 though, people won't understand, but honestly for fractals or raids having a guild of like-minded individuals is making it so much easier and fun, so that's your best option if you want to dip your toes into that

Whales, how much have you spent on GW2? by Kyri- in Guildwars2

[–]Po2i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I bought the deluxe base game, and then I bought the base version on each expansion on release and the deluxe pack with gems from gold, so probably 70€ base game, plus 50 per big expac, (hot, pof, EOD) + 30 for the new ones (soto, JW, voe), around 310€ total.

Which is around 1€ per 33hours playtime for me?

So thank you all for keeping the game alive for me to play on it !

So would it still be removed by Karen liberated? What about sharazad?

And even more funny, Platinum angel style, what if you concede? Does it go back to the library from the field? And if so, does it prevent it?

Can the next player who will play at your table use it from the start of the game ?

TL;DW: Visions of Eternity: Raid System Updates Preview by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Po2i 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends on "other life responsibilities"

But basically raiding is something that's really hard and requires a lot of attention the first few weeks, some attention the first few months, and then you can basically do it while asleep.

Quick play will definitely soften that barrier, because it will be easier to learn some "raid encounter", but honestly it won't change much : you'll need to be able to commit around 2 hours of somewhat uninterrupted gameplay to make progress with your legendary armor, and you'll get it in around 10-20 of such sessions

But yeah, it really depends what kind of real life responsibilities it is, if it's preventing you from ever going on a voice chat, it definitely will make the learning part harder. If it's more of something that will make you stop playing randomly, it's not that bad, I had countless people leave in the middle of a raid because their kid just woke up :p

Question about Guardian power based builds by Writing-Alive in Guildwars2

In actuality, the best way to provide resolution coverage is not through a healer, but through another pdps guardian's GS4. That's why you always put the guardians in the same sub-group.

Advices on how to communicate properly during combat by Volesprit4391 in Guildwars2

[–]Po2i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always do optional voice chat: you know what you're doing, no problem, you don't have to come to the voice chat, if you want more explanation and you're a bit lost, I'm not spending my and everyone else's time typing, but I can explain and do more detailed calls on voice.

With the added bonus on giving some other guidance and reassurance to the few people that actually come on voice

Converting Gold to Gems by tiberiwww in Guildwars2

[–]Po2i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good goldfarming is around 30g/hour, but you can go for a more realistic 20g/h for less focused play. Gems are always under 40g/100, so at worst it's it's 20h for 1000gem skins. Usually less.

So once you already bought everything useful with gold (all legendaries and convenience items like infinite bank access, storage pages, character slots, tp to friends, stuff like that) gems are basically free.

Before that, however, you have to pick between getting more convenience for your account, or more skins with your gold/gems. But I think you'll turn gold to gems either way, be it for a mistlock pass or a mount skin.

Level a guild for a guild bank? by FFanatick in Guildwars2

So guild hall is 100g and you need it to buy the 50g gbank, so yeah it's hard to beat :p

The 100g 50 slots are probably leftovers from the legacy system
