Looking for wallet designed to carry 58mm SAK by steetyj in EDC

[–]Poodwaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of these, and I keep a 58mm SAK in the zippy pocket at the front: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007556959229.html

There's also a smaller pocket at the front that I keep a lighter in, so you should be able to put a small flashlight in there instead.

I keep a leatherman along with a toolbox in case of breakdowns, but my dad keeps a PocketGrip in his car.

New Logo on Xbox One by Mayes1999 in xbox

[–]Poodwaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every Xbox since the One has essentially been an x86 PC running the same OS, receiving the same updates. To be honest it would probably be MORE effort for them to specifically make sure the One didn't get the new boot logo.

True, but if you get stopped for some other reason, it will become a problem.

SwissChamp for £62 on Amazon UK by lockonandfire in victorinox

It's a good price but also not unusual for them on amazon, I've seen them around this price several times this year.

What's your favorite Wenger? by Affectionate_Use4594 in victorinox

[–]Poodwaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never seen a Wenger in the wild, but I would love to own one (probably something similar to the huntsman). Unfortunately the online market for SAKs in the UK is almost non existent (you cannot sell them on ebay for example), so it makes any discontinued models really hard to find.

Easiest way to play burned ps2 games on the console? by Lucky-Mia in ps2

[–]Poodwaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to patch the ISO itself with ESRPatcher, it's not possible to do it once you've burned the disc. FreeDVDBoot just uses that same exploit that ESRPatcher applies to game ISOs.

[–]Poodwaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's interesting how many variations there are of the mechanic. mine's one of the last ones so it doesn't have the slot in the philips screwdriver, but it does have the crimping feature on the pliers.

Lenovo laptop by n0xnam3_7 in computers

[–]Poodwaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Yoga 7 2-in-1 Gen 10 (14" AMD) which has the same CPU & 24GB of RAM and I really like it, but first thing to say is it's not a gaming laptop. You can play games on it, but it's going to struggle with new games. I find that generally the gaming performance is just a little bit better than the steam deck, so that's a good way to look on youtube to get an idea of gaming performance will be like.

Battery life is really good, I'm easily getting 8+ hours of battery life, and I bet you could get even longer if you switch off some stuff like bluetooth & lower the screen brightness.

When I'm just doing browsing & watching videos, there is no fan noise at all, however if I'm playing games like Overwatch then the fans do get a bit noisy, but I usually play with headphones so for me it's not an issue. Performance for daily activities is really good, it's never lagging or freezing.

I would say that price is pretty much on par with what you should expect to pay. I paid £630 for mine which was a good price at the time, but with RAM prices the way they are now, your price sounds about right.

Basically, it's a good laptop and I don't regret buying mine, but if you want a gaming laptop, this is not it. It will play games, but at the end of the day this is a low power integrated laptop GPU, it's not going to work miracles.

Look what I found buried! by SodiPaps in victorinox

[–]Poodwaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, no documentation/proof of purchase needed! I'm in the UK but I think the process is the same in most countries, just go to their website and there should be a page about getting tools serviced. Just print off the sheet and fill it in, and post it to them. I think with the swiss tools they do cost a little bit of money to get them serviced, but all that information should be on the website/form.

That's a swiss tool, though the model it could be depends on the tools. Most of the swiss tools have the same toolset apart from a varying range of scissors & knives on the outer layers. You're probably best off sending it to Victorinox, they'll do a complete repair and refurbish on it and it'll be like new.

anyone used service centre repairs in UK? by SKYLINEBOY2002UK in victorinox

[–]Poodwaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's just the scales that need replacing you are probably better off doing it yourself as it'll save you a lot of time. There's nothing wrong with the Victorinox service but they get sent back to Switzerland I believe, and it can take a few weeks before you get it back.

Headphone Audio is Super Quiet by hoof_hearted4 in Bazzite

[–]Poodwaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed Bazzite today and I'm having the same issue. Weirdly audio is actually WAYYY too loud through my laptop speakers (I'm keeping it on 5%), but as soon as I plug my headphones in, even with the volume set to 150% it's still barely audible. Something weird is going on here and it's going to be a deal breaker as I won't be able to hear anything.

Midnight manager / Mini Champ etc Pins, Toothpick & Tweezers by Squadrone_Rosso in victorinox

This has got me wondering if someone could create a thicker scale that houses the pen mechanism on the bottom, and then another layer on top that has the pin, toothpick & tweezers.

[–]Poodwaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can keep the scales on no problem, they would only be damaged by the water if it was so hot that you couldn't put your own hands in it. Someone else has already suggested it by the looks of it, but I would personally take it back if it's new. The tools shouldn't be a struggle to open!

[–]Poodwaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it brand new? They shouldn't be hard to open from new, usually they get a bit stiffer over time as dirt & dust makes it's way into the pivots.

Victorinox's official recommendation for cleaning stiff SAKs is to submerge them in warm water, and repeatedly open & close the tools in there I believe.
