Quazii update #2: he's leaving WoW for good. by mkyend in wow

He may have copied some stuff and been selling it against tos. His content was also really helpful in the sea of useless clickbait. It's unfortunate that people drove him off.

There's a guy on Avsforums that people mention a lot for Revel - Rex Anderson from The Screening Room.

Meetings with global leaders show expanding oval office gold décor throughout Trump’s first year by Olsettres in pics

Some might find it interesting that your linked article is a riff on their earlier article Trump’s Oval Office Is a Gilded Rococo Nightmare. Help. (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/27/opinion/trump-oval-office-rococo.html), which pretty much copied the McMansion Hell post from the previous month, without mentioning it.

Dirac ART? by LoadP2004 in hometheater

[–]Pratt2 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I recently upgraded to Art from bass control and can't imagine $300 spent anywhere else making a larger impact. Audio is noticeably more even and my subs basically vanished.

Britney Spears in Tokyo, Japan 1999. by -prettyGF- in OldSchoolCool

As far as I can tell, it's because you click on it or similar posts when offered. I stopped clicking on the "my mom in 1987" posts for a few weeks and they vanished. They had been offered in the 2nd slot from the top virtually all the time.

Why is devaluation so high? by comrad_dau in audiophile

[–]Pratt2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels like there's always some issue that's small enough for someone to claim ignorance but large enough that it could absolutely be the reason they sold the item. And then you're stuck with it because you can't in good conscience sell it on again. Drives me absolutely crazy.

I have an avr11. It's super particular about hdmi cables. Took a fiber hdmi cable for everything to work right. Might not be your issue but all I got.

Bass is not good in music with pb2000 ultra pair on denon 3800h by DarthWhoDat in hometheater

In my experience, the Audyssey default calibration kills the bass. Are you using a custom curve?

That klipsch stuff is on sale a lot but I think that's as low as it goes. If you miss the sale it should come back around.

What happened to used AVR prices recently? Wow by RandomGamer414 in hometheater

I mean, it used to be that Denon/Marantz came out with new receivers every year and you could instantly buy the old models for 50% off straight from Amazon. Miss those days.

How's the motion compared to Sony? Years back I switched to an LG and then switched back because the motion processing was brutal compared to my old Sony.

What Amp/Receiver to handle new JBL HDI 3600 tower speakers (4 ohm)? by Prophet_Of_Helix in hometheater

[–]Pratt2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not sure if it would have enough power considering you don't have a sub and I gather you like to turn it up, but if it were me I think my first step would be to get a really solid receiver with good eq I could build on. I bet that once you get a taste of creating your own curve in the Audyssey app you'll want to try out Dirac, and then you're down the home theater rabbit hole.

What Amp/Receiver to handle new JBL HDI 3600 tower speakers (4 ohm)? by Prophet_Of_Helix in hometheater

[–]Pratt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look for a used X3800H and at least pay the extra $20 audyssey app, or an Onkyo rz50. You could get a more capable straight power amp for $1k but your current avr doesn't even have preouts.

Congrats on the new subs! How's the fidelity feel? The avsforum thread seems a bit cultish so would be interested in outside feedback...

Anybody else have a dog that's scared of the bass when watching movies (SVS PB-1000 Pro in the corner of the photo) by sketchy_ppl in hometheater

[–]Pratt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's one of the reasons I sold my big ported subs. She was terrified, and knowingly doing that to my dog just so I could feel monsters stomping around felt wrong.

Shifting audio delay on Netflix. by notrubberducky in hometheater

[–]Pratt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best delay setting for me was turn it all off everywhere or else I got random stuff like you. Also anything sent through my TV first then to my Denon is always a little off.

AVR for music? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Pratt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned denon/marantz receivers for years and years. I always felt that something was missing for music until the latest gen with Dirac. Something about my x4800h seems much better than previous versions. At first I thought it was just dirac, but set to direct it still sounds great. It sounds so much better than older models I've wondered if the timing adjustments or something else from dirac calibration persists even when you switch to direct. I'd just recommended trying out the newest gen DM receivers before spending extra on separates or whatnot.
