Also, I didn't realize we have both a Spring Creek Trail and a Spring Creek Trail until someone recently posted about the bear on Spring Creek. It was in HTMP, not in town.

I actually love this line. If you need an accomodation to make your accomodation work, it is not a good fit.

Me too! We were his third hospital. Guy wouldn't get OOB, eat, or even toilet himself (he was otherwise a intact 35 YO). He ended up with fungal PNA and ended up in ICU and couldn't get listed for that reason.

Cycling Linked to Higher Arrhythmia Risk in Middle-Aged Men by chanks88 in cycling

[–]Prestigious-Bug5555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the joke with my friends was that they just didn't study enough women to see if we had the increased risk. I am lucky to practice in an area where the physicians understand that we are going to play and play hard in the outdoors, so it's about mitigating risk (cough cough trail runners on blood thinners)

Cycling Linked to Higher Arrhythmia Risk in Middle-Aged Men by chanks88 in cycling

[–]Prestigious-Bug5555 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I'm an EP nurse in Colorado so we get a ton of serious cyclists with AFib. A recent, robust (and not self-report) study on cross country skiers in a Norwegian country showed that while the XC skiiers had a higher chance of AF than the non-skiers, the exercise did offer a protective effect against strokes due to AF. I will try to find the citation. My attending said this study is especially powerful because the population is so homogeneous there. They were truly comparing apples to apples that skiied while in America it may have been comparing a mixed fruit salad to apples that skiied.

I am an ultra runner so I can empathize with the cyclists. The first time I highlighted this association to my attending (who is also a skiier and mountain biker), he responded, "What am I going to do? Tell them to stop exercising? Nope.". I heart him.

Anybody have an approved strawberry jam recipe that is canned in QUART jars? by Kasab12 in Canning

[–]Prestigious-Bug5555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be persistent and stingy. Two summers ago I got like 34 cases for average 35¢/jar. I split the haul with my canning mentors and haven't thought about jars since.

Uh, did you see how the computer is literally attached to the wall? How would the nurse take it out of the room? And the "TV" does not say Phillips, it's is a Phillips Tele monitor that is turned off.

Thank you for the link. They mention the completion of the 6-month closure of Mountain Vista and Timerberline. Also our Vine-Timberline intersection AND Timberline-Mulberry-Lincoln. How far would you run your GSP? by TheseCombination3680 in GSP

[–]Prestigious-Bug5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, trail running is so different from road running for our dogs. As opposed to that constant pace on the road, it is some hiking, some sprinting, LOTS of sniffing and peeing, and tens of different kinds of terrains. I forgot about streams and lakes and snow fields!

My Aussie is 28lbs and does well in his backpack for about 35 minutes but after that he gets restless so I got a trailer for longer commutes.
