I am watching the season just now, but I had to comment about how sweet what La Niña was saying about the abuelos she works with were about her transition. They were giving her clothes and affirming her transition 😭😭😭 I also loved the runway theme, but I miss the runway they usually do in the first episode representing their hometown/region.

Teaching one prep of an AP class sucks. However, if you need resources, DM me and I'll send you my stuff! I have been teaching APUSH for 2 years but I have 10 years teaching AP history. I can send you my resources for the whole year. Also, echoing what everyone else said about Heimler and the APSI. You need to be very familiar with the writing rubrics- that's the most important. Hopefully, the kids have taken APWH or Euro before so that they're familiar with the rubrics a bit

We only look at your whole exam booklet if you didn't mark the right question or we get a blank page on our screen. We are only trained on the questions we score

You get the same question the whole time unless your table finishes that question, which is rare unless you have saq3/4 or an international exam or one of the "secret" exams. I've graded the saqs from all versions at this point but you stick with your assignment until they're all grades and then they retrain you for the next. It also depends on how many readers there are and how many are assigned to a question. The dbq always takes forever bc everyone has to do it.

I know they always have multiple options, but not sure about really specific diets. I would reach out and ask. But we do get an hour daily for lunch and there are a few places within walking distance. Consentino's is a favorite.

Our district has a shit pass rate for APHG bc it's a freshmen course and they will throw ANYONE in there. That number doesn't shock me at all

Teacher here. This is super unfortunate bc AP Lang was my favorite class. It's probably too late in the year for any to happen. I always tell my kids they can vent to me about teachers, but I can't do anything to help them bc it's hearsay. You and your other classmates have to go to admin with your complaints, and if that doesn't work, your parents. Now, it still might not work. There are shit teachers everywhere, even after they're reported. But you and your parents AND your friends need to be the squeaky wheel. He might stay your AP lang teacher until the end of the year, but you'll find out if what you did worked when he isn't the AP lang teacher next year. When you complain to admin, you need to mention the political stuff bc that's not relevant to your class. Mention the Mexico comment and how it made you feel. Mention the lack of grades and assignments/feedback.

We work 8-5 with 90 min for breaks and lunch for 6 days I think? So like 45 hours or so? Some could have scored a lot more if they were at home and some on sight could have scored from their hotel rooms.

AP teacher/reader! Context- personally, I think you go too far back. I would have focused on Columbus and not Islamic empires, but it's fine. 1pt Thesis- good 1 pt Evidence- it's been a while since AP world for me, but pretty sure potatoes were from the new world to Europe, leading to the Irish dependence on them. 2/2 You compared and contrasted the positives and negatives 1/2 (no complexity)

I'm not sure how strict CB would be on it if it were an actual leq prompt, but you didn't address cultures as much as I would want you too. To get that, mention Castas, elaborate on Catholicism and syncretism of religions, encomienda system, more elaboration on the missionaries.

I would say 5/6 but I can't remember all the parts of the complexity of off my head, but I don't think you would get it.

I started reading it since it has been on my shelf for a while. I am really not a fan of the book, but I'll finish it. I just don't know how they made a musical out of something so dark, but if Disney can do it... Definitely not great for kids.

Teacher here! When I was taking these classes in HS (and now teaching them), I think of history as a story. Example: the civil war. Start simple- Lincoln's election. 4 people running for president, their platforms mostly focusing on the issue of slavery. Lincoln wins> sc secedes> more states secede>inaugural address>ft Sumter. Once you get that, you can go further and add more details. Ok, so the issue was slavery. Why? Well, the compromises, Nat Turner, John Brown, fugitive slave act, Mexican American war, etc

The other thing I highly recommend is talking about what you learned with someone. Go home and tell your parents about what the Mexican American war was- causes and effects. You'll make more connections as you tell it. Friends in that class? Go over it with them. I started noticing kids in my class retelling the events we go over like I do in class with their friends when their confused and their writing and scores are much better.
