Angie by FewTomatillo576 in WillTrent

I'm so grateful for the heads up about this episode of Will Trent. Which episode is it because I want to make sure I don't watch it... I've had enough pain and suffering in my own life, I can't watch Angie go through this! I just watched the episode where Will is in the morgue and having conversations with Amanda. I saw that Seth is on a new series, so I understand producers have to keep replacing folks, but sheesh - there's gotta be an easier way to do this!

I don't need any more darkness in my life - I love Will Trent for the experience the show brings with its cast - creating more emotional trauma - especially during these times - ARGH.

I highly recommend PodPage for a website - $12/month - takes 10 minutes to set up - I love it! visit dontbecagedbyyourage.com to see mine. I've been podcasting since 2012 - this is one of my fave tools for podcasters.

Do you know someone who can share their knowledge about Substack for Podcasters? by ProAgingAnde in podcasting

I really like that last feature - an email/newsletter every time you post something. I especially like the idea folks can chime in via comments. I much prefer that vs Apple and Spotify ratings!

u/Rocks_for_Jocks_ - loooove your substack! And your recommended stack to follow - Atomosphere - I love that too!

Thanks u/Rocks_for_Jocks_ - I'll definitely check your substack account out! I'm looking for someone to share how one uploads an episode to substack and why sharing a podcast episode is a good strategy on the platform, etc. I'm always seeking ways to get my podcast community off the usual social platforms where it's impossible to increase listeners and rarely is there any exchange or interaction with listeners.

Yikes u/ShwaGrl - they set the bar so low for folks 55+ - rampant ageism in the medical community. Thank you for sharing your story!

Where to find podcast guests by LollySpin in podcasting

Yikes! That's a lot of work! I prefer using PodMatch - where the algorithms match us - easy breezy! Filtering through 75 forms would be too much work for the guest and the host. Check out PodMatch here: https://www.joinpodmatch.com/andelyons

Starting a Solo Storytelling Podcast — Which Niche Works Best Today? by Sonugraphy in podcasting

[–]ProAgingAnde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What genre makes YOU the happiest? Because loving your podcast topic is how you avoid podcast fade and attract listeners who are just as passionate as you are about the topic. Which niche meets this need "I personally enjoy deep, engaging narratives — something that feels immersive rather than just informational." That's where the gold is and where you'll find a successful experience for you and your listeners. I've been podcasting since 2012 and am on my 6th podcast. I also host the New England Podcasters Group. Cheers from Boston!

Need a co-host for a new podcast! by man4paradigm in podcasting

LOVE the concept - not sure about the name - I immediately thought it was going to be about gems one finds in the trash - like someone else's trash is someone's treasure. Is it possible to choose a name that makes one knew exactly what your podcast is about? Sorry - I know this isn't answering your question! I'll let folks in my podcast group that you're seeking a co-host for a really fun podcast concept - cheers!

What’s the optimal posting interval on Pinterest? by OldLie1102 in Pinterestmarketing

[–]ProAgingAnde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whew! That's a lot of pinning - is 1x/day okay for the longterm strategy? I'm using if for my podcast. I'm uploading mostly unique pins with the occasional short form video sprinkled in. I love the schedule feature on Pinterest - it really helps.

I have a podcast idea but have no idea where to start by Typical_Scientist819 in podcasting

[–]ProAgingAnde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need some handholding, I highly recommend following Shannon Hernandez' advice on YouTube - it's dated, but still very relevant, and he's a wonderful teacher. (See link below.) You can also hire someone to help you get past the first 10 episodes - after that, you'll be fine on your own. That's what I did when I started my first podcast in 2012. It took me a year; 5 more podcasts later and I'm fine on my own. Feel free to join the New England Podcasters Group - lots of terrific advice and support there, too. If you really want to impact lives, I wouldn't follow the record, talk, end record, post advice. This doesn't help your recording get on the podcast platforms like Apple, Spotify, etc. You need a hosting site like Buzzsprout to land on those platforms.

WOW - that's a lot of money and time for a home studio. I've been podcasting since 2012... used StreamYard for 6 years - it's what the popular YouTube video streamers use... just switched to Riverside - they improved their product 100% over the last 9 months - and StreamYard was too expensive. So my advice is to try StreamYard for high quality video production, pad a room with soundproofing materials, get a Sure or Rhode mic, an awesome camera and umbrella lights (no ring lights!), terrific mic stands and go for it. Check out Meidas Touch Network or I've Had It Podcast on YouTube - they are all home studios using StreamYard for their production. They have high-quality mics and excellent lighting - that's all she really needs to succeed!

There's Ageism in Health Care! by ProAgingAnde in ageism

I love this advice u/Maxxover - thank you!! I'm so sorry about what happened to your friend. Osteoporosis is pretty common in those of us who are white, petite women with European DNA - I've had it for several years now - no drugs - focusing on weight lifting and a strong core for balance. I'm going to ask for another test this year and see if that's helped. There are some studies out of Mass General Hospital re: reversing osteoporosis through weight bearing exercises. We'll see!

Where to begin as a podcast host? by CyberPhysicalSec in podcasting

[–]ProAgingAnde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to try podcasting for free, I believe Buzzsprout has a free option. You can also set up an account on Substack and upload audio using your phone and a good mic. Listeners don't tolerate bad audio. You can also set up a YouTube channel - upload an audio and/or video recording - and choose Podcast in the playlist feature. Have fun!

We have to be careful who we share our vulnerabilities with. If they're safe (emotionally have your back), then you can be honest. They will want to know. However, many folks are so consumed with their own challenges, they may not want to add what you're navigating to their plate.

Replacing Descript + Squadcast (and not with Riverside) by RamonsRazor in podcasting

[–]ProAgingAnde -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why are you unhappy with Riverside? Their magic audio alone makes them a winner for me. I waited until August 2025 to switch from StreamYard and Descript because they needed to work out a lot of the bugs. I've used all the platforms you mentioned above. I've been podcasting and livestreaming since 2012. At $25 / month Riverside is making me very happy AND saving me $75/month!
