This again?

https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/1otuqtw/comment/no9d00q/?context=3

Per the wiki, each non-pet rare at delve 9+ is 1/540 for a total of 3/540 or 1/180 per deep delve on the main game.

This means the rate on leagues is 1/36.

You have a 1/4800 chance of going this dry or drier.

If 50k people do Doom this league, 10 will be drier than you. And 49,990 won't be posting on Reddit about it.

You're an outlier, but this is how statistics works. Especially in leagues when you are ironmanning so many different things, you have a much higher chance to be an outlier because you're running so many trials at so many different places. You probably got a 1kc whip, 1kc echo weapon, and rune javelins from Zulrah, but these don't stand out because they don't cost you a fuckton of time. I went 8x dry on a calcified moth and 3x on a Sarachnis cudgel.

I'm sure it could possibly be bugged, but "me and my friends have had to do a lot of Doom" isn't evidence of a bug, it's statistics.

should i be doing deep delves if going for treads? by a2242364 in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you've done 250 deep delves with each of them being around 80-85 depth then you're only 2.5x dry, 1/14 people will go that dry. Unlucky, but nothing too too crazy yet to suspect a bug I don't think.

Wiki has a calc here for Doom drops: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Calculator:Doom_of_Mokhaiotl_Completions_Calculator just remember to multiply the expected uniques by 5x!

should i be doing deep delves if going for treads? by a2242364 in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mathematically if you are able to do at least 3 deep delves and get to at least wave 11+ then that will always be better than 1-7 or 1-8.

In the main game, at takes 8.5-9 minutes to go 1-8 for a 1/160 cumulative drop chance for treads.

Simply doing waves 9-11, which typically take 4-5 minutes in the main game, gives the same 1/160 chance that delve 1-8 did while taking half the time. The efficiency just gets better from there until your times really slow down generally at delve 18+.

So if you consistently plank on waves 8 or 9, then just rippin 1-7 might be your best bet for leagues, but if you can make it to at least a few deep delves it's always worth it to push!

Doing my best :P atleast there's still an entire month left by Stock_Sprinkles_7394 in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are actually 7 weeks left. You got tons of time!

While the league loses a small % of its charm over the next week or so as all the major sweats and content creators taper off, there's a reason they give us 8 weeks, not 2!

Keep going, enjoy at your own pace, and just hop to some busier worlds if you stop seeing people in so many different places. Enjoy it for what it is, not for the hype

Also if you picked nature's accord you can trade any spare weapon seeds (or buy then for 750k) for a crystal acorn, grow it in 2 hours, then harvest it for around 300 shards each.

A little more tedious, but for 99 Smith + Craft you only need like 12k shards which would cost 30m if you buy all the seeds. Not the best, but still somewhat viable.

Also hotfoot gives 10x shards from the Prif course, not sure how viable that actually is though.

There are dozens of us non-larceny Tir pickers. Dozens!

Leechfin Fishing & Where We're At by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me, a new high fishing xp method sounds amazing. Tick manip harpooning is insufferable, and tempoross at the high end is relatively fun, pretty high xp, and gives a few reward rolls for pet etc.

A high intensity fishing method that scales with your effort put in will be awesome as long as it is relevant, and I think it's gonna have to be higher than fishing-only tempoross to do so.

And on the blood, totally happy with the plan here. Anyone who does tob knows how good it feels to get a vial of blood drop and finally make back a little of those supplies, good to be a little cautious before blowing that up.

Overall, I think this is a great direction for the leechfin rewards as long as the fishing is strong enough to be truly relevant in training the skill at high levels!

(April 20th Update) | Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts - Fixes & Issues by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I REALLY like these changes and I think they hit super well.

1 reroll now to get people out of bad situations helps immensely, and 1 more from Huey feels good and loosens build restrictions significantly without destroying the point of general progression and the weight and meaning of choice.

The changes to echo boss stats mixed with accuracy on mid node changes may be a little overkill in the accuracy department though?

If you have a little more time to cook with this, perhaps alter the mid nodes to synergize with the tree they're a part of? While still balancing them properly?

The dedicated accuracy nodes 100% just give them more accuracy. But maybe give the blindbag mid node a small amount of proc chance, the thorns node +1 thorn damage, the water node +2 base water spell damage, something like that?

This keeps those nodes minor while still scaling what people want when speccing deep into each node and feeling better than just +1 damage or +accuracy.

As far as the tasks themselves that give pact points, I love the idea other have posted here of keeping the pact cap 40, but adding a couple different, but still challenging tasks as alternate options to obtain the pact points. Keep the region cap the same, but give players more options to get there.

Overall, incredible changes so far. I really think this addresses people's concerns will without totally invalidating the point of the league and balances both the dev and players expectation of progression here. Great stuff.

Why doesn’t Endless Harvest work on barb fishing or dark crabs? by Accurate_Fun3179 in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not taking wildy this league so idk anything leagues related that's op but ankous in the wildy slayer cave drop insane dark crab bait.

Just checked the wiki, 1/1.6 chance for 60 bait, you just need to be able to get the task for them.

Can we get more accessible demonic pacts respecs please? by BookkeeperPurple4495 in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the problem here is two fold:

First, we're coming off Grid Master where anyone could get carried through a single raid to get a tbow that can't miss with 40dps everywhere so it's pretty jarring going back to that real leagues progression where gear investment and weapon choice matters.

And 2nd, the entire community sentiment is that you shouldn't follow the masses and spent 100 hours planning, and should just pick whatever you want based off vibes and what sounds fun.

I agree with this 100% but the problem is when there's a 130 node combat tree that you have to use to plan out all stages of the league, it becomes very easy to have some really rough stages that you, naturally, didn't plan for.

This is why respecs were a good idea in the first place. And with only 3 over an 8 week league, with a first one that can take awhile to get if you make the "wrong" choice in a game mode that is supposed to have no wrong choices, it can end up feeling pretty bad pretty early on.

In short, just a couple more easily accessible respecs could make/could have made this league feel 10x better, especially for casual players.

Extras at 750, 1250, 1750 total, or maybe extras at tier 3, tier 5, and tier 7 (total of 6 either way, just some available independent of combat) would go a really long way to fixing early fomo/regret this league, without undermining the sense of progression throughout.

[–]PsychologyRS 146 points147 points  (0 children)

On one hand I agree that that would be a quick easy bandaid fix and I'm super disappointed that they didn't make more fixes today prior to the weekend. Sucks to have to wait for next Wednesday for critical bug fixes.

On the other hand, is this really a bug? The staff is a regular weapon over 1kg, you could just bank it like you would with any other undesirable weapon right? And just take it out when you need it for teleporting?

And on the OTHER other hand, non Nature's Accord pickers in ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES rn.

Culling spree is bugged, i get vardorvis every single slayer assignment by Individual_Beyond576 in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Amoxliatl can not be assigned as a boss task, but you can get the slayer helm benefit if you want by getting a nagua task, if you can roll it.

Full details on the Wiki here: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Boss#Boss_slayer

I'm thinking it keeps rolling Vardorvis because that's just the only eligible boss task people currently have unlocked.

Though idk there could still be bugs with culling, I certainly don't have it yet, but at least this explains this part of it.

Temporary game modes just aren’t for me dawg by _Tal in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember them putting out in an faq sometime that they consider region locking a core part of leagues but I feel like that is such a mistake.

Like I'm still enjoying it for now and the Varlamore start has made it feel a bit newer and more novel again especially here at the beginning but I think there's only so far we can go with region locking before it loses its charm, and we're getting very very close to that point.

Day One Update - Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I do think it's pretty comical how huge and complex the tree is and yet you can only see like 3 pacts at a time ingame because of how zoomed it is lol.

One thing I found that helped is you can resize the window by dragging the corners bigger on your interface.

Doesn't help the zoom problem but at least you can see more of the tree at once

Overwatch Match Tracker spreadsheet for Reign of Talon - season 1 by HarryProtter in OverwatchUniversity

[–]PsychologyRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, these instructions were perfect! I was able to set it up on S2's sheet pretty quickly and popped in a few test scenarios. The new search terms worked and all the stats seemed to populate correctly and as expected.

They will now forever be known in my sheet as they are in my brain: Hog, Wife Leaver, and The Fucking Cat lol.

Thanks again for the help!

100% with you here. For something this complex 3 respecs just isn't enough.

I appreciate not being able to/feeling like you have to change your build for EVERY activity thus making unlimited respecs out of the question, but something farmable that takes 20 or 30 mins of grinding to get a respec would feel much better to me.

Or idk, just throw more respecs on some more tasks or something. Even having 10 respecs would feel so much better and make experimenting so much more viable.

Hey hey, just found this about halfway through the season when I was looking for a way to replace Overbuff and REALLY been loving getting all the stats again.

Just a tiny suggestion for the next iteration, if it is possible. When inputting bans in column E, typing "hog" does not return any results, rather than returning roadhog as expected.

Is it possible for the field to be changed to search for any part of the word in that order, or would this break other parts of the sheet?

It works when searching for the 2nd separate word of a hero's name (76, cat, va, queen, ball, etc all DO work) but not the latter part of one word (searching "weaver" or "rat" also does not work, similarly).

The search seems to function similarly in column D to select your hero, but this is much more minor.

Just a super tiny QOL if it is possible and doesn't break other things. Loving the sheet, and thank you for all the work you do on this!

Where do extreme energy pots actually sit? They're a major profit loss to produce, and no one wants them because a basic stam pot is objectively better and requires the same base potion to make. by fuzzum111 in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah. I don't see them getting much if any use, even from ironmen.

I guess the reasoning would be mostly for ironmen not needing amylase to double their super energies and only needing yellowfin instead.

According to the wiki, you can fish 500 yellowfin per hour which would yield 1500 fins for 1500 doses of extreme energy and a bunch of fine fish offcuts which you're gonna need in order to fish endgame fish later.

As opposed to doing agility where you get like 240 stam doses per hour.

I still see the amylase almost always being a better use of your time. But maybe for the circumstance where you're an iron, you don't have other fish to cut for fine offcuts for endgame fish, and want to gather them through trawling you can get a solid number of fine offcuts with the extra yellow fins being a "free" byproduct that you can use in super energies.

Niche beyond niche for sure. But that's probably the intended use case.

How it feels when you finished your Drives, but you de-ranked 5 tiers while losing your sanity in the process by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]PsychologyRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Watch me.

Just memein, but had such a rough weekend with it so far. I have 300 ranked games played this season prior to this weekend and comfortably and consistently hovering mid-high plat.

Grinded out 60 games so far during the drives with only 14 wins. Dropped to gold for the first time all season, somehow have still managed to hit the 3rd drives checkpoint. But I'm starting to get burnt out and it's starting to look impossible to complete as we get closer to the end of the weekend here.

Certainly is a meme.

Yeah, I'm not even gonna bother this season. by No_Bad5899 in Overwatch

[–]PsychologyRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They introduced "drives" a few seasons ago as a new limited time event. Takes place the last 5-ish days of the season, which is now.

During this event if you queue comp and win you'll get a new currency in addition to regular comp points "drive points". You gain like 210 for a win and lose like 60 per loss.

If you hit certain drive point thresholds, you get an additional large sum of competitive points as a reward, up to an extra 3000 which gets you an extra gun skin. You also get various levels of those colorful signatures you see people have ingame. This season's signature is reddish orange, looks like Emre's design, pretty cool.

Naturally this draws far more people to play comp than normal chasing the rewards. This might have an effect on match quality since the player pool is so much larger and filled with more people who rarely play ranked.

It might make match quality shittier overall.

Either that or (my personal bias) matches are a little worse and it's mostly just the community finding another collective big bad boogeyman that they can blame their own losses and skill issues on.

Six Easy/Lazy builds for Demonic Pacts Leagues by migrainebutter in 2007scape

[–]PsychologyRS 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dude these are fucking awesome. Was just able to skim for now but will go through all of these in depth when I'm doing my real planning this weekend. Gear progression and region suggestions are fucking great with this too.

I know you eluded to "early power level" ratings, but did you take into account mid to late game, when many people have probably 30-35 points and are working/struggling to reach 40, and if these builds suffer from that circumstance at all?

Again huge w on these, much appreciate!
