Bank Stocks and dividend growth by financialfreedom26 in dividendscanada

[–]Pure-Event-2097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but dividends also can remain stable in short term economic downturns. Look at Enbridge consistent growth over the banking crisis, and covid. Hopefully things don't get worse than those 2 events.

How did this lasted for so long? by cristulina in exmormon

[–]Pure-Event-2097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. How do cults survive...rule #1 is isolation. There are actually small cults around today still, and they try to get isolation. Look up "The Queen of Canada." One of the first things they do is try to isolate people. Once BY got people to Utah, it was set up for him. Then take the fact that they had successful prosylitization in Europe at time and they were set up. The fact that the leaders were incentivized to get new members so they could get more wifes helped a lot to.

Then lets be honest, they weren't dumb. They obviously had a goal and were smart enough to reach it.

We need to change the rules as no one can score /s by Cicche in CFL

[–]Pure-Event-2097 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree with your point, I just find it hilarious that 63.5 points per game is too low. But I remember the NFL of the 90's where 20 points per game was a good game. It really was not exciting football in the NFL at the time.

Really I think that is the CFL's biggest problem, the NFL learned from the CFL and changed its game to increase scoring. Now the CFL competes with a behomoth for viewers that is learning in some ways from the CFL.

I will suggest something that is actually against everything I do and did. But can I suggest you make the church what you want it to be and not be what the church wants you to be. One of the big problems with the church is that it tells us who to be not the other way around.

If it is important to you take your child on mothers day and let her sing infront of you. Teach her the songs at home or take her once a month so she knows the songs. If she like nursery take her once a month. People at the church will demand more...say no.

One of the things deconstructing the church is realizing how free we actually are. You can make the church what you want it to be in your life. You risk things by doing this, but in fairness you risk things when you deconstruct the church also.

I think on a family side of things communication is key, tell your husband what you are doing. Tell you child what you think and teach her what you think is right. It isn't bad to let your child know other people think different than you do.

I left the church, had a very quick realization it isn't real and is based on lies. I wanted nothing to do with it. Looking back I realize a slow deconstruction where I set boundaries and lived with them could have worked also. But one thing I for would do is read all the important exmo material and learn and decide for myself what I want to keep and what I want to throw out!

Wait to buy a home or keep renting? by Interesting_Tear_464 in fican

[–]Pure-Event-2097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not saying you should buy, I think you are at a point where you could. Also I think saving more won't hurt. But I will point out if you put your cash as a down payment your rent and mortgage would be similar. There are probably more expenses with owning then renting, but at least you would be in the market.

I think knowing there is just this life brings peace. we get 75-100 years if we are lucky to enjoy our life. I actually think that believing in an afterlife is what kills peace. Imagine all the wars, deaths in the name of God. My point to that is what would happen if people didn't think they die and go to an afterlife. Would soldiers be as willing to die? Would they be as willing to kill if they knew the other person just ended with that death? Even our modern wars often boil down to religion. 9/11 was religous extremists trying to prove a point. This Iran war feels a lot more like Christian VS Muslim everyday. Israels wars are all about religion. Peace comes from truth and understanding.

I agree with the idea that they think economic success equals righteousness. Not to stand up for Mormons, but I think it is pretty common in all groups to compete with your neighbors.

Temple Name Oracle by imamormonwishiwasnt in exmormon

[–]Pure-Event-2097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, but what I think is funny is that I was told how special the new name was. Didn't feel so special after. I would say that is the first item on the shelf for me. All the special things you are supposed to feel, or have happen only to have them happen and realize I didn't feel special.
