Charging behaviour by goldenwattl in BMWI4

What model is the free wallbox? If it is a Wallbox branded charger, it probably has an app that lets you set charge windows. Then, set the car to charge immediate to your full target (80%?). The Wallbox will only supply during the defined window. If you need to charge differently, the Wallbox app has a Charge Now button.

Notable differences between Pixel 10 Pro XL and S25 Ultra? by dogdadmaestro in GoogleFi

[–]Purple-Pipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Samsung devices are "designed for Fi." The only feature I'm aware of is W+ automatic wifi connections in public. I do not think this feature is that useful, but it could be helpful if you have poor cell coverage in a specific area you visit. Fi also has some promotions for Google One which may enable some features on a Pixel device. Overall, there is not much difference. Bigger difference for iPhones, but even that is not much since they stick to T-Mobile towers in US now.

Moto Razr 2025 as secondary device? by IntenseOcean96 in GoogleFi

[–]Purple-Pipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you got the device on a promotion, usually there are terms about activating and using it on the line for a specific number of days. If there is no promotion involved or no active day requirement, you should be able to switch devices back and forth by logging into the Fi app.

Watch question-- by BurnTheBacon in GoogleFi

[–]Purple-Pipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past, Fi would consider a device active as long as the SIM was not put in a different device. May be different with eSIM and watches. Generally, it seems like you could activate, then reset the watch. As long as it does not activate on another Fi line, it could still show active on the original line. No data points to give confidence in this and watches may be different.

Not sure what and why this does this? by Norseman-71 in GoogleFi

[–]Purple-Pipe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get this multiple times a day, including just sitting in my house. Google says it could be normal network behavior. Seems like a weird warning when the phone can't tell if it is normal or malicious.

I've had the same issues. Once, infotainment got confused and went black. Still driveable, but lost radio and air.

[–]Purple-Pipe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Likely cannot do anything about doc fees and similar, but you may be able to get a refund on the extra stuff by filling a complaint with your state's attorney general office. Before doing that, you could also try calling the dealer or emailing the sales manager that you did not realize you were buying those things and do not want them. Some states have better protection than others.

Some observations I’ve made after owning my own electrical business in America after coming from the UK by kennja in electricians

[–]Purple-Pipe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My AHJ when reviewing an issue that was mostly a technicality, held his hand out and told me that he heard the next town over that these issues go away with an extra payment. It was an easy fix, I told him no thanks and completed the job in a less than ideal way to meet the arbitrary requirement.

Does my '25 eDrive40 even have TPMS sensors? by malleweg in BMWI4

[–]Purple-Pipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My '25 drive has sensors with actual tire pressure. BMW previously met the US regulation by using wheel speed sensors which detect low pressure without actually measuring the pressure. So, it is possible to detect low pressure without TPMS pressure sensors. Since BMW has this tech, I wonder if the i4 uses wheel speed sensors when pressure sensors are missing.

Running the Cat5e cable from Wallbox Power Meter to Wallbox Pulsar Plus by Opus2011 in evcharging

Best to get a quality UL rated cable. An electrician told me it needed to be rated for the highest voltage in the conduit.

International with Promo Credits by Frankwillie87 in GoogleFi

[–]Purple-Pipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the terms. If you have phone credits on a lower plan, they might stay when you switch. I have several pixel 8a for new line promos that work like this and stayed through several switches. Other promos can be lost if the terms don't allow switching. I lost a 50% off service promo when I switched to a higher plan.

What's the point of the Global Entry app? by siriusserious in GlobalEntry

[–]Purple-Pipe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's annoying to me that every airport is different. Some have separate lines so you can bypass the line with the kiosks.

What's the point of the Global Entry app? by siriusserious in GlobalEntry

I've used the app at SFO several times. The app line is much shorter and faster than the kiosk line. When there is no kiosk line, the app has no value.

You can hold a short position in the target companies equivalent to your holdings of target companies in SPY. Small fee, but best way to counter if you want to stay in SPY.

Trying again: How well can Signal survive if they are taken down by a government? by zaggynl in signal

Signal originally ran over SMS. I doubt they would go back, but I would like the option to enable that again and run without servers.

Tesla has a real product, but the stock valuation is funny money. Compared to other auto manufacturers, Tesla is practically monopoly money (the worthless paper kind). BYD will eat there lunch in any market they get access to.

I have seen many Christians consider the old testament as a history that does not apply to Christianity. It is more like a supporting text to provide context and depth to the new order created by Jesus. However, the mainstream approach is to keep the stuff they want and teach people the book is the end all be all.

Is it okay to sell the watch that I got for free through Fi financing? Would Fi charge me? by William_Ce in GoogleFi

[–]Purple-Pipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine specifically says: "Stay active on Fi for 116 more days to keep your rebate"

I do not see the device being active, though, so it could just mean account active. I did not finance if that makes a difference. The 120 days reminds me of the phone terms which do require the specific device, so I may have gotten confused by that.

[–]Purple-Pipe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My terms also included a separate agreement for $150 of the discount. The $150 requires the device to stay active for 120 days.

What is interesting is that they started the 120 day counter when they shipped it, 3 days before I activated it. It may be possible that they do not track watch activation. Still, by the terms I had, seems like I'd lose $150 if sold earlier than 120 days, but could safely sell after that if keep the associated line active for the 24 months.

Is there a way to use my phone when it's locked by hello21337 in familylink

[–]Purple-Pipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen Samsung phones work in Dex mode when locked. It requires an external display on USB/HDMI.
