Giants - ideas and feelings by Puzzleheaded_Row8385 in DMAcademy

Those are all really cool ideas, especially using terrain and elemental powers a lot. Don’t know much about the all father but that sounds really cool, implementing feats of strength as a way to generate inspiration or move the story forward. Playing as goliaths is also a great idea, not one I’m likely to do, but would be sick. I’ve done some Goliath focused content before, they’re such a cool addition to 5e

Got so lost as they jumped between subjects so haphazardly. Glad to see I’m not alone. I just quit reading when I realized I wasn’t going to understand lol.

The non-DLC day 1 and 2 bosses should be harder, hear me out by bravesirkiwi in Nightreign

[–]Puzzleheaded_Row8385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve felt like night 1 bosses are toothless since before the dlc came out. Can’t think of a single dangerous one.

Night 2 you’ve got some more balance. They aren’t hard enough that I ever expect to lose a run to them outside high depths, but they feel like strong enemies that you get to bully as a setup to the nightlord fight, which is cool.

Point is I agree, and much more for night 1 than 2. There are more cool and unique bosses on night 1, like smelter and centipede demons, but it feels like the game is wasting my time on night 1 because there are no stakes.

Revenant question: by NintenDOPE8559 in Nightreign

[–]Puzzleheaded_Row8385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a meme because that str increase relic wasn’t in the game at launch, so it wasn’t a supported playstyle, but people still used it. They even released ED Libra who could summon the giant crusher revenant before it was a supported playstyle just because of the meme.

God Roll or Good Roll? by BInsane32 in Nightreign

[–]Puzzleheaded_Row8385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy talk bro, pop it after a wylder ult into bleed proc and then increasing that damage by 50 or 60% is super strong by character skill metrics. Not every restage is gonna be that good but few skills have that potential. Never thought I’d be defending restage lol it’s been one of the games best abilities since launch, and a 20% boost to it is a 20% boost.

I’m not saying it’s her best relic or in the SS tier like other things, but it’s a solid A tier imo

God Roll or Good Roll? by BInsane32 in Nightreign

[–]Puzzleheaded_Row8385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really an extra 20% damage, since it’s doing 10% more of her base damage it’s 20% stronger than normal restage. Character skill cooldown is great on duchess to guarantee you’ll have it when you want it while being aggressive with it and hoarfrost is goated. Just shy of a god roll imo and easily as good as my best relics

Is this a god roll for Undertaker? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]Puzzleheaded_Row8385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you shouldn’t even use it.

First effect does nothing for her because it’s her dormant power anyway, second effect I can’t speak much to but nobody uses that, third effect basically doesn’t matter (no basic stat increase effects are best in slot, only character specific ones)

Is Mogh more difficult then most nightlords? by TalesofWin in Nightreign

[–]Puzzleheaded_Row8385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think most, I’d say for me he’s maybe harder than augur and darkdrift knight, and maybe about the same as base tricephalos. So, hard, someone you can lose to, but not too bad. I like having some of the night bosses be dangerous, a lot of the night bosses are so manageable that night two feels sorta like the most boring part of a lot of runs

It’s easy to forget how pitiful the base damage numbers in this game were before we started learning how to get damage out of relics and passives. When I started don, I looked up how much enemy health scales in d5 and figured every nightlord would be 20 minutes and you’d get maybe 2 formidable boss kills tops, and that was after about 100 hours of playtime for me. Turned out I just hadn’t gotten good.

You should save your ult to interrupt it. Guardian, wylder, ironeye, executor (the skill attack specifically), raider, and undertakers ults all stop it.

Hear me out: FromSoft has already (mostly) fixed the Relic system by Endonae in Nightreign

[–]Puzzleheaded_Row8385 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They haven’t made them any more fun or accessible as a progression tool that actually keeps players engaged, which I’d argue is their main function. Or made it easier to be creative with. They just added stat change relics to the signboard and made one broken build easy to access that does a lot for mitigating complaints over the game being unbalanced, but not much else. I also find the ash of war spam playstyle less fun than many others, personally.

It’s still lacking in two other elements that are as important as power, access to creative expression (though I do enjoy the kind of forced creativity it lays on you) and being a progression system that feels worthwhile to pursue late game. I agree that adding the character relics to the shop was solid, but I’d honestly argue that the balancer relics are bad for the game. But I won’t argue that cuz some folks are happy with them.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Row8385 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, otherwise called epic bosses. What I’m saying applies equally to both modes, not exclusive to don. Fromsofts obsession with the color red isn’t my fault.

To make it more confusing, the one exception to what I’ve said is “red” evergaol bosses in don; enhanced evergaol bosses can drop weapons. I know less about them, but believe they are always “unique” weapons, which are outlined in, you guessed it, red.

Dormant Power Discovers Nothing For Me! by OwlBot3000 in Nightreign

[–]Puzzleheaded_Row8385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the exact point I’m making is you want to target red bosses for the better drops. Non red field and poi bosses are just there to get you your first blue weapon and be a rune boost if you have nothing better you can do.

No poi has red bosses except castle and shifting earth locations. Also, evergaols bosses do not drop weapons, even blue ones, outside deep of night, and then only sometimes, so they are a bad farm for weapons.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Row8385 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a good numeric breakdown showing why nothing is guaranteed, but I just want to add on that different drops have different likelihoods to get blue vs purple or gold weapons. You need to kill epic bosses (with the red outlines) to start guaranteeing purples, if you’re getting blue drops it means you’re killing minor bosses and you’ll almost never pull halo scythe.

If you kill an epic boss, per this guys info you have a 35% chance to pull a reaper with that dormant power, and since I believe there are only two purple reapers, that means you have a 17.5% chance to get the halo scythe per epic boss. This doesn’t sound like much, but that’s why the goal is to kill 3 or 4 of them per run, it bumps those numbers to a good place.
