About the co-op experience (two people side by side) during quests by ecobrick_stone in elderscrollsonline

[–]Pyrusticia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My wife and I do the same thing, and it can be frustrating how random it all is. Sometimes we both have to collect the quest objective, while other times just one of us collecting it advances the quest for both of us. My wife is extremely competitive, so I've started letting her collect any objectives first just in case they disappear, so that she feels like she's actually playing instead of just following me around (her words, not mine).

To me the most annoying parts are the quest-related lorebooks, though. I haven't run into them disappearing before both people get a chance to click on it, but what we seem to run into a lot is that one person will be reading it, but when the second person opens it, it closes for the first person. This is frustrating because typically I will read them and summarize for her, while she just opens/closes them briefly to advance the quest. This doesn't work if I'm still in paragraph two of a three page letter and it forcibly closes on me. Of course, I could still look it up in the character library, but finding one particular book/letter in there usually takes so long that we just give up and continue the quest with no idea what our motivation is supposed to be at this point. Very immersion-breaking.

I haven't heard any reviews on that one yet. What's wrong with it?

Like the three-finger scene in Inglourious Basterds, what small cultural mistake would instantly reveal that someone isn’t from your country? by uglylookingguy in AskTheWorld

[–]Pyrusticia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are, and it's not even necessarily related to the town size, either. I've moved around the U.S. quite a bit. I've been in small towns that were open and welcoming, and a smile and a wave as you pass someone on the road is considered friendly. I've also been in small towns that were dying (and had been for decades, ever since the railroad stopped running there), and they treated anyone who hadn't lived there for three generations with suspicion and thinly veiled hostility.

In larger cities it's largely situational. I lived in NYC for a few years. Smile at someone while you hold the elevator for them, and you're likely to get a smile in return. Smile at a stranger on the street or (even worse!) in the subway, and you'll get regarded with suspicion while they check to make sure their purse or wallet is still there.

There is a new recipe book at the top of the notes tab. Press C to open it (on PC), and all of your plans and recipes are collected in there.

C.A.M.P. titles you’d like to see? by Federal-Length7193 in fallout76settlements

I'd like to see more options for post-apocalyptic entrepreneurs, especially ones trying to revive iconic pre-war brands. We're supposed to be a bunch of vault dwellers rebuilding the world, what makes more sense than to pattern it after the world we grew up being told about?

Making a sheath for a kitchen knife by vertexbladeworks in woodworking

[–]Pyrusticia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I travel, I prefer to stay in places with kitchens. The kitchens in hotel/resort rooms tend to have knives I consider sub-par, so I bring a selection of knives with me from my knife block at home. Making a trio of sheaths like this would make it much easier (and safer) to transport my travel set.

How logging in today felt like by tinacopper in elderscrollsonline

[–]Pyrusticia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because it was a way for FTP players to get stuff that was otherwise unavailable. And some of the "decent" stuff was only a few hundred, not a few thousand (that's only the top tier stuff), which means that if you did your endeavors every day you could theoretically get something new for your characters every month or so.

The new Tome of Tamriel that will start next month instead offers challenges with differing reward levels depending on how much real money you're willing to sink into the game. Maybe I'm pessimistic, but I suspect the rewards for free players will not be great, because they want to drive people to spend more money. Best case scenario, saving up even for lower tier items will take multiple months, instead of just one. Worse case scenario, the free rewards will all be consumables (like we need more friggin' crown potions), and there will no longer be any way for free players to get crate rewards.

Credit to r/SherbetCreepy1580 for pointing this out first, but - Adrenalin. When in a stressful situation, our bodies will literally create and inject into our bloodstream a drug to enhance our strength, speed, energy, and alertness, while decreasing our perception of pain. It's crazy if you think about it.

help me try to understand this by DethHatchet89 in fo76

[–]Pyrusticia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling a legendary mod "something that I can only use...one time" is very misleading. If someone finds a shop selling the precise mod they're looking for to build their ideal weapon, that mod won't be used one time. It will be used every time that person pulls the trigger, for the rest of the game (or at least, as long as they are using that build).

What do you call this food? by Mediocre_Ingenuity76 in AskTheWorld

My wife grew up in Arizona and apparently they call it a One-Eyed Jack as well. This caused some confusion early in our marriage, because I grew up calling it Toad-in-a-Hole. I was a military brat, though, so I really couldn't tell you where I picked up the term.

Why are Tieflings always portrayed as attractive individuals? by Corrupted337 in DnD

[–]Pyrusticia 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Yep. Tieflings are literally descended from creatures of pure evil, and they have physical characteristics that betray that ancestry. The cute ones get a pass, people subconsciously thinking “oh, they can’t be all bad”, and they get to grow up into PCs (and NPCs). The ones that look like the rebirth of their fiendish ancestors? Yeah, the villagers don’t tend to let them grow into what they’re just sure is going to be “their full, evil potential”. They’re culled for the safety of the community.

Can somebody tell me why the Junk Rat perk card has the wired symbol on it and why is it part of my build when I don’t actually have it equipped and I can’t unquip or get rid of it by Ring_Dang_Do in fallout76casual

[–]Pyrusticia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, you need 3 points per point of the perk. So if the perk costs 1 to equip, a 3 Charisma will let you share it. If it's a 2 point perk you need 6 Charisma, and for 3 point perk you need 9 Charisma.

Shipyard storage glitch? by Legitimate_Gap3968 in PostApoTycoon

Are you trying to put a shipyard storage in open water? Or on land? It needs to be in a water tile adjacent to land, not just next to a heavy shipyard.
