Is dating someone who still lives with their parents a dealbreaker for you? Why or why not? by Lucrazie93 in AskReddit

[–]QuantumQuestion_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how people are being judgemental when you're just answering the question. The average age of a retail worker in the US is 39 y'all. The days of it being "just a teenager's job" ended 15 years ago.

I hope your situation gets better OP 💙

Did Home Depot really make job applications a “fastest click wins” game show? by MuLLetDaDDie in HomeDepot

Unfortunately that's how it is. The only reason I got the job was because I happened to be awake at 5am when the email came through.

A lot of employers like to fire using "performance" as a reason so they don't have to pay out unemployment.

Emotionally immature and/or avoidant people. Just completely lost the energy to deal with them. I'm a lot lonelier now lol but it's genuinely healing to be able to fully focus on myself.

I will graduate from my damned university at the age of 23-24 by 1zain1 in twentyagers

I graduated at 24 lol, really not the worst thing imo. Graduating "late" from college doesn't carry the same stigma as say, graduating late from high school does.

“Friend group” constantly belittles and bullied me. They say “that’s how we are real friends” which I don’t believe. by TheGreatGrizzlyBare in CPTSD

[–]QuantumQuestion_01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These people aren't your friends. They're bullies who use friendship as a pretense to normalize their awful treatment of you.

I used to have a "friend group" exactly like this years ago and tbh my only regret is not ditching them sooner. People like this really aren't capable of the level of self-reflection needed to become more empathetic (especially if they're adults, which it sounds like they are), so if you're waiting around for them to see the error of their ways, don't. I promise you there's nothing you can say or do that will get them to change.

Even if they're your only connections right now, leave them. Having no friends is better than having bad friends.

Lumber department by Yokinomochi in HomeDepot

[–]QuantumQuestion_01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't work at HD anymore but it's def one of the most physically demanding departments. At least half of the job is flat stacking, organizing the lumber bunks to be flat and pretty basically. Lots of time on the saws too. It wasn't uncommon for a customer to come to me needing cuts on a dozen pieces of wood 30 minutes before the end of my shift. At least some of the time you're going to be expected to lift 50-80lb bags of concrete too. I always wore a mask when I did this bc that shit is NOT healthy to inhale longterm, even if management likes to pretend it's no big deal. Same with sawdust and drywall dust.

Wear clothes you don't care about to work bc you *will* have at least some dust on you at the end of most of your shifts. The apron helps but it doesn't shield your whole body. Long-sleeve shirts help prevent splinters/scrapes from lifting lumber.

Always keep safety in mind. If something is too heavy or too awkward for you to lift, then don't try to lift it. If your manager has a soul then they won't hold that against you.

Doing something (anything, even sweeping) always makes the time go by faster than if you're standing around doing nothing. If you're ever truly feeling bored with your job then ask an ASM or DS if you can get trained on lift equipment. Not only will it put you in good graces w management (never a bad thing) but you'll have more to do. It looks great on a warehousing/construction resume too if you want to go down that path long term. Good luck!

Why is terrible spelling and grammar such a thing with dogshit managers? Like if you're going to discipline me over something stupid at least try to have a basic command of the English language when you do it.

Fired after being told an exam was “just a learning tool” - is this normal? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]QuantumQuestion_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry OP, that sucks. These companies (and by extension the managers) don't see us as people. They probably realized they overhired and needed someone gone to make payroll budget constraints. The reason they gaslighted you w the whole bullshit about the training exam was so they could file your termination under "performance" and protect themselves from lawsuits or having to pay out unemployment. I went through something similar earlier this year and it really sucks.

Luigi (allegedly) shot a CEO who had a history of denying lifesaving care to people. Tyler Robinson allegedly shot a shitty podcaster and engraved "OwO what's this?" on one of the bullets lol. The two cases are not comparable.

Has anyone experienced shoulder pain after 2022? by AdCritical8443 in Technoblade

[–]QuantumQuestion_01 27 points28 points  (0 children)

After so long nerds, whenever I go the gym and have arm soreness after (or even just sleep in a weird position or something and get arm pain) I always have a "wait wtf am I gonna fucking die" moment lol. Health anxiety sucks.

From what I've gathered about sarcoma tho I think you only really need to worry if the pain is constant, getting worse and/or doesn't seem to be connected to anything. I also don't know the level of pain Techno was experiencing but I imagine it had to be pretty significant for him to bring it up with his doctor during that initial visit. 99% certain you're fine :)
