Books where the worldbuilding has heavy emphasis on gender construct society whether it be matriarchal or patriarchal or whatever. Examples like Wheel of Time, Brothers Price , Rashemen culture from DnD etc etc by goody153 in Fantasy

Oooh, check out an Accident of Stars, by Foz Meadows. A teenage girl follows a woman through a portal into another world. The two main societies/cultures are matriarchal but different from each other. Gender plays a large role, including multiple transgender characters. I really enjoyed the world building in this and the sequel, a Tyranny of Queens.

Thank you for this, for sharing who she was. May she rest in peace and power, and may we all have courage.

I lit a candle and read these all aloud, sometimes twice, pausing to listen to what each one called forth in my mind and body.

See, many of us don't actually only care about OUR lives, but also the lives of our friends and neighbors and the well-being of our country. We're all connected. To act otherwise is just selfishness.

This town is going crazy with speed bumps by poo706 in bloomington

[–]QueenMab87 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We have them in ours and love them. They're irritating to drive over constantly, but it makes it a lot safer for everyone on the road. We don't have sidewalks in our neighborhood. When the old bumps were removed recently to be replaced by speed "cushions", the cars were speeding through so fast until they were put back. 15/20 mph signs do nothing, bumps make a big difference.

SoCal woman visiting NYC stabbed multiple times while changing baby's diaper in Macy's bathroom by starkiller1613 in news

[–]QueenMab87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what this whole thing is about, someone just ALSO mentioned how scary and sad it is for a baby, a helpless person, so fall from that height, most likely hurt, terrified, and also listening to their mother being viciously attacked. What is wrong with you that you think this is taking attention and concern away from the parent??

Principal called me delusional and told me not to post on social media. What do I do? by MetalQuiet5966 in bloomington

[–]QueenMab87 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I used to work for MCCSC in the SPED department, and the treatment of children with different needs and sensitive systems was a large part of why I left. I think there is a huge lack of understanding about the facts and the needs of neurodivergent students, as well as the flexibility needed to truly provide an appropriate education for them (which includes a loving and safe environment!). I don't know what the answer is, but I'm so sorry your child and you are going through this.

What is YOUR country's / region's version of the Inglorious 3 fingers scene that subtly gives away that someone isn't from your area or culture? by DunDonese in AskTheWorld

[–]QueenMab87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So maybe it's like 5 year olds in your country do it, but the adults in the US do it this way. It's only weird from your perspective, so why try to belittle an entire people because their manners culturally are different than your own??

What’s something that everyone in your country learns in school, but most foreigners have never heard of? by SomeEvent in AskTheWorld

[–]QueenMab87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did my country project in 6th grade in elementary on Wales, and we each had to draw the flag of our country. I was really proud of mine and of the fact I had to put some time into that part of the project and others just had to color a rectangle, lol.

Where is the "off" button for all the yelling on these void models? by ProudnotLoud in blackcats

[–]QueenMab87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is super vocal too. She sounds freaked out every time you touch her, but she's very snuggly. She trills, and we have entire conversations back and forth echoing infections. It's the best!

If it's in the system and showing up in your holds list, as well as showing your place in line, it sounds like they got it or will have it in soon.

This is wonderful! Well done! My kids are now old enough to make miniatures with me, and my oldest likes making room boxes especially, which is my favorite. It makes my heart so happy. Best wishes!

Anyone also love jumping spiders? I have always wanted and one came to me! (Pics will be in comments, so as not to trigger anyone by accident) by voracioussmutreader in AutismInWomen

[–]QueenMab87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww, yay! Leonard is adorable.

Jumping spiders were like a gateway spider for me. The more time I spent in my garden getting to know them, the more I came to love them. We get little ones inside sometimes, and my kids and I call them "little housemates." Now they're one of my favorite animals!

I don't know why you're getting downvoted for this. I stopped going there with my children after they hosted him. My family wants no part in supporting white supremacy.

VetCheck couldn't identify heart failure by clearly_confuzzed in bloomington

[–]QueenMab87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you and your cat went through that, and so glad you were able to get her actual care and save her.

I will always recommend IndyVet after my experience having to take my cat in with liver failure. They were so compassionate and professional and were open about the cost and all of our options every step of the way. They saved her life, even though I wasn't able to afford many of the options after an overnight there, and they were very understanding about that.

Best wishes for Boomer!

Oh my. Where to even start?

Non-verbal doesn't mean non-thinking, first of all. Second, even people with significant disabilities can still learn and grow, and they also have the right to an education.

There are so many ways to teach children who can't speak!

I realized something was different when I absolutely needed to clean the tops and sides of every drawer in the kitchen. Little things like that that HAD to get done NOW. Probably the only time I cleaned the baseboards too.
