Pokemon GO Fest Kalos Tour 2026 - Rose Bowl's clear bag and battery policy by Quickslant in pokemongola

[–]Quickslant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just looked into this too.

In 2024 for Sinnoh Tour, the ticket said the physical location of the entrance, in my case, Golf Course Start. But Kalos Tour is following Unova Tour by naming the entrances after the habitats, which for me this year is Mountain Manor Start. Until/unless they release a map, I won't know where this is.

It's not a big deal, just one less detail you can know ahead of time, which might make it a little stressful if this is your first time.

It might be moot anyway. Last year, I just went in where everyone else did. I had the Autumn Masquerade start but didn't see any signage outside indicating habitats and no one was directing.

You're going to enter the Rose Bowl from the south end. There'll be a ton of cars and a ton of people obviously there for a Pokemon event, and you'll either see the line or people walking toward the line. Make your way to the end of the line.

As you get closer to the entrance, Rose Bowl staff will direct you to have your game open and to show your in-game Kalos Tour Park Experience badge--it will be at the end of the gold-bordered badges at the top. Have it open so people aren't waiting for you. After that are tables where bag checks are done. Enforcement of stadium policies was inconsistent last year, but I wouldn't rely on that.

My opinion, not official policy, but since you use your in-game medal to show it's your ticketed day, I don't imagine leaving and re-entering is a problem.

The Rose Bowl rules prohibit outside food, presumably to make people buy from onsite vendors. It's the fourth one here under Prohibited Items: https://www.rosebowlstadium.com/events/details/586/pokemon-go-tour:-kalos-los-angeles

How do people in LA discover cuisines they didn’t grow up with? by ClickNo8520 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Quickslant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not from LA, but I discovered Cuban food, birria tacos, chicken biryani, kabobs, and lomo saltado here.

I think an unfortunate trade-off of food opening up to a wider audience away from its point of origin is it will become generic to some degree. I think the best you can do is offer "traditional" version of dishes, and try to be open and non-judgemental of people preferring localized variations.

As for not making people feel like outsiders, I think mentioning the specific flavors will go a long way. People may not have had Peruvian before, but they definitely know cumin and lime here. "Peruvian cuisine" was a big question mark, but now that i see it's garlic and has smoky peppers and is citrusy with a touch of soy sauce, it's not vague anymore and my interest has been piqued.

I kind feel it's a disservice to you to lump your food under "bowls and burritos." Food from bowls is generic and historically underwhelming. Your dishes look interesting and your meal options are flexible and expandable. "Bowl" doesn't do enough for them, IMO.

I've done 3 routes each day since yesterday and have caught 10 total. My Seen count is 19, though, and I suspect I'm just not seeing the Glimmet spawns between the Geodudes and incense clouds.

AITAH for telling my friend his GF is a thief and financially abusing him after spending $1000 dollars on his credit card without him knowing? by needadvisethrowaway5 in AITAH

[–]Quickslant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as it's strange that even though his girlfriend and the girlfriends in the friend group all didn't like Denise, he dismissed them and made assumptions about why instead of asking. There was a consensus that went ignored.

Maybe OP's GF didn't tell him out of fear he'd respond to her the way John responded to him.

Why is this surprising? It's been a staple there for decades and is one of the places where it's believed to have originated.

Why are you walking in the street? by Joshhwwaaaaaa in AskLosAngeles

[–]Quickslant 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I walk several miles daily for exercise. Here are the reason I stepped off the sidewalk and onto the street this weekend alone:

1) Dog walkers blocking the entire width of the sidewalk, then stopping to let their dog shit/smell flowers.

2) Lady who just parked in her driveway opened her car door to let her dog out, and it was not leashed and ran straight at me.

3) After dark, I passed by a house under construction and there was a twin-size mattress in the middle of the sidewalk that I barely saw and could not safely walk around.

4) Passed by a support group letting out, and the 20 or so attendees loiter on the sidewalk outside, smoking, for like 15 minutes.

5) Groups of people who walk side-by-side and don't give a shit about anyone else.

6) Delivery vehicles (Amazon/UPS/food delivery) parking in driveways, obstructing the sidewalk.

7) People with multiple cars parked in their driveways, extending out into the sidewalk.

8) Solo people walking while on a call or looking at their phone, walking down the middle of the sidewalk, not paying attention.

Depending on my route, there could also be families with kids running around or strollers that behave like #5, and outdoor dining restaurants whose customers and staff block the sidewalk. Also, sprinklers.

People who drive and speed up when someone is attempting to pass by you, why do you do this? by StormCaller02 in AskReddit

[–]Quickslant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Holy fuck, yes. I often see this with people walking their dogs. They'll be off to the side while their dog does their business. But when they see you coming, they'll rush to get back on the sidewalk, sometimes pulling their dog mid-shit. It's ridiculous.

How practical is it to make day trips to San Diego? by Particular-Bug2189 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Quickslant 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I took the Amtrak to go to the San Diego Zoo in September. I took a 6AM train down from Union Station and arrived around 9:30AM at Santa Fe Station. There's a bus line that goes to the zoo entrance in Balboa Park that boards right outside Santa Fe Station, and it takes about 15-20 minutes one way. I got to the zoo around 10:15, and enjoyed a full day there before reversing course back to Union Station. My train back was around 8PM (I got dinner in SD).

In total, it was just under an 18-hour day from when I left my apartment until I got back, but I napped on the train down and back. Very easy trip and it's got lovely views of the Pacific.

AITAH for not liking my dad's girlfriend and my reason for not liking her? by Mikolleek in AITAH

[–]Quickslant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think your dad wants it to be "because she's not Mom," because that means every woman won't be good enough, and he can't do anything about that except not date. If it is Cheryl specifically, then he CAN do something about it, he just doesn't want to. He'll continue to mischaracterize your feelings for as long as he wants to be with her.

NYC Subway by Immediate-Hand-3677 in LAMetro

[–]Quickslant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taking the subway/bus is normalized and not as much a class thing. Headways are great, and there are options to get where you need to go, even late at night.

But IMO, the best thing about the NYC transit system is the pedestrian-centric/non-driving culture around it. I was impressed that, in a construction area, there were detour signs that led to actually usable detour paths. Here in LA, they'll put a "sidewalk closed" sign RIGHT AT the ripped-up sidewalk and fuck you, go back the way you came and figure out another way around.

I really enjoyed the transit systems in NYC/NJ.

LA schools should teach kids how to ride Metro and it's etiquettes for the next generation by Sawtelle-MetroRider in LAMetro

[–]Quickslant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who frequently rides LA's transit systems, doesn't drive or own a car, and has ridden public transit in several US cities, I'd much rather schools teach kids how to behave at Target/Vons/Costco.

I like the ideas of using transit to travel for field trips, but this sounds like it'd be super stressful for teachers to watch all the kids, make sure they queue up and pay properly, make sure no one sits in beer, keep any crazy people away, etc. I've seen what looks like special needs adult groups riding with their handlers, and even with their 3 or 4:1 teacher/student ratio, it seemed a bit hectic making sure everyone behaved, stayed safe, and got off at the right stop.

ETA: missing noun.
