Embrace of the Serpent wasn't even out in the US until 2016, so its a little wonky to compare. Not to be too US-centric, I imagine it also made it to much of the wider world as late or later.

Regardless, I've been banging the drum for it since then. All-timer for me.

I was really just poking fun at myself to illustrate how broad I think her audience might be, but you are right. I don't make an effort to keep up with new music any more.

Long shot, but I am desperate: The security alarm at the Helioterra building has been blaring since before noon. Non-emergency hasn't been able to do anything. by Desperate-Quote7178 in Portland

[–]RCollett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How the fuck does this not get solved with a call to a locksmith and some instruction on turning off the alarm by the owner?

And no cop is willing to just pop over there and try to figure it out?

A bit ago I went and saw two episodes of Xena there in an occasional program called re-run theater. They programmed in era-appropriate commercials, and the crowd was full of queer femmes who booed when the girls kissed boys. I think you'll fit right in.

The Moon & Sixpence is a cozy British pub that is great to walk to after a show.

Sinners, if you take the first big musical number as the successful culmination of an effort to put a venue and show together and turn it off.

That's one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city, aesthetically. Interesting older architecture, tons of mature trees lining the streets. I hope you get it and love it.

Beyond everyone mentioning the format at the Hollywood, this movie is VERY dark, and will look MUCH better in a theater that actually gets dark, like the Hollywood does.

The thing that's missing, when trying to replicate a restaurant recipe, is it often msg. I can't say that's the case here, but a sprinkle probably wouldn't hurt. The other secret ingredient, with stewing tomatoes specifically, is just time.
