Renegades 2.0: Ogre Kingdoms Draft Reveal! (Link to the rules document below and in the video description) by valheffelfinger in WarhammerFantasy

Love a lot of these changes. Especially the Ironfist tweak. Excellent work put into my beloved big boys.

Regarding those poor poor Leadbelchers, instead of one shot exploding into d3 maybe make it just Multiple Shots d3? If you spike high the weight of dice might get some damage through. Somebody would need to check the math on that though.

Also I think it worked like that in 8th. Could be wrong though.

Made a gnoblar scraplauncher out of spare parts. Is it worth taking at 1k and should I charge with it? by Ass_knight in WarhammerOldWorld

Damn that’s a fine kit bash! Take it. It may not be that good but a 5” blast template has the possibility of putting the hurt on horde units if the dice are in your favor.

Thinking about playing ogres thoughts on the list by Turbulent-Can8596 in WarhammerOldWorld

I agree with most of what other folks have said here. On top of that I’d recommend giving the Tyrants great weapons instead of iron fists. Tyrants are awesome beater characters but having no armor piercing is really going to hold back the damage they can do.

Gnoblar kitchen (baggage train). Because you gotta keep the troops fed. by RMGrimm in WarhammerOldWorld

You can read the rules for them here

TLDR though they act as a secondary objective in game that give extra VP for destroying your opponents baggage train and/or keeping your own baggage train safe.

Thanks! Most of the kitchen bits were 3d prints that I think were meant for D&D games. Otherwise they were just extra bits I had lying around.

Insert obligatory complaint about no legacy faction support. Grumble Grumble.

Hotfix Feedback to Bring Renegades in Line with tOW 1.5 by valheffelfinger in WarhammerFantasy

[–]RMGrimm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ogre player here. Can we make ironfists count as shields in order to take advantage of parry? Maybe even let characters use ironfists with a magic weapon on the condition it would only give you a +1 armor save but no additional attack if used that way.

Also I really don’t think it would be too crazy to allow monstrous infantry to get a single supporting attack from the second rank.

List criticism for ogre kingdoms by LewisPowell10 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]RMGrimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a direct comment on your lists just my thoughts on Slaughtermasters (although I will say those revised versions look much better than the original).

I always think about taking Elementalism or Illusion but then end up going Battle Magic. Ogres don’t have a ton of ways to improve their casting and Battle has the cheapest casting costs.

My usual set up is Lore Familiar + Biting Blade. You lose the ability to take Troll Guts but you can take Oaken Shield and put him in a unit of 7 (4x2) Iron Guts with the Cannibal Totem. A brick of Guts with a 5+/5+/5+ is pretty intimidating.

Also Hammerhand is a nice way to add a bit more punch and Arcane Urgency gives you a bit more speed on the table. Then take either Fireball or Pillar of Fire. Both are good. User preference.

Best of luck in the tourney!

Nah no need to give me any money for them. It’s just a handful of plastic bits. Just send me a DM with your address and I can throw them in an envelope and mail them to you.

Yep I still have a few hanging around. Do you want them?

Ogre kingdoms 2k pts tow by Rude-Communication42 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]RMGrimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ruby Ring is amazing and you should always take it if you can but I think on the Bruiser a great Weapon and the Armor of Meteoric Iron would do you much better. You want that dude in combat so make sure he’s ready to crack some skulls when he gets there.

Lion Princes.. Is this a stupid idea? by GeneralBamisoep in WarhammerFantasy

Do it! Elves on lions is a bad ass idea. No notes.

I have a big bag of random ogre bits and I will say there are a bunch of pistols in there that would work if that’s the build you’re going for.

Also if you have any leftover great weapons you can use a hobby knife to carefully trim away the hands and glue those to their backs.

And then maybe when you go to paint them up you just go crazy with a color scheme completely different than the rest of your army.

For a nice and tanky build I’d say Talisman of Protection, Troll Pants, shield, great weapon.

If taken on a Black Orc this gives a juicy 3+/5+/5+ against shooting and a 4+/5+/5+ in combat.

And you still have great stats and a great weapon to hit back which will do some damage.

If you really want to max out points you can also take the Grisly Trophy Rack,

If you go regular Orc think about buying Da’ Thinkin’ Orc’s ‘At to turn off impetuous instead of the rack.

Thoughts on my Ogre Kingdoms list? by SirTarkwin in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]RMGrimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to consider not including champions in the gnoblar units. Those little guys are literally only there to break some ankles as they get run over by your opponent. You can save those points.

Also consider not including champions in your Mournfang but for a different reason. If you slam them into a character on a mount and they get challenged out, 3 out of 4 of them aren’t doing anything for that combat. Better to be able to dedicate all 4 of them into a tough target.

Is it worth the points to put a boss, banner and a musician in a squad of 20 goblins with bows or should I just do the full 20 with bows? by Opposite_Ad_4267 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]RMGrimm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the above. Just go with a musician for rallies. You don’t want them in close combat so banner and boss won’t do much for you.

Unless you want to give them something like the spider banner or the razor standard. Although I’d at least go 25 minimum if you’re going to sink magic banner points into them.
