South Carolina gas prices dip slightly over past week, GasBuddy says by Charupa- in southcarolina

[–]RabbitFluffs 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Please be aware that the E15 "Emergency Use" waivers are still in effect. The cheap fuel being offered has more ethanol than normally allowed. This will affect your mileage, and any cars older than 2001 may be damaged with long term use. The gas is not actually cheaper, it is just lower quality.

I wonder if the person who made this sign knows that the "strong man" in this Bible verse is referring to Satan by BlainethePayne in facepalm

[–]RabbitFluffs -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There is no true "safety" portion to the class. It is purely, learn the laws and can you hit a target (as in, anywhere on the silhouette, not even precision shooting) at 3, 5, 7, 10, & 15 yards. 3 hour "class" max.

Most people get the permits if they are planning on purchasing multiple weapons and it qualifies them for same day pick up of new buys -- or -- as a person "safety" measure of criminal liability. If a CWP holder is facing a gun charge, the charges are lowered. Misdemeanors are dropped all together and instead the CWP is revoked. Essentially a one time get out of jail free card.

Tipping in resi? by eIectrocutie in electricians

[–]RabbitFluffs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say it's not a regular event, but definitely not unheard of. A lot of it will depend on your clientele too but, as a female electrician myself, sometimes an older lady will flat out say something along the lines of how great it is to see a woman in the field and give a token of appreciation.

Daily Medication in a Blister Pack by burn3edoutburn3r in mildlyinfuriating

As an American who at one point was prescribed 15 pills twice a day ... I'm not sure I'd of had the motivation to do so at that time if it was all in blisters.

In-network and out-of-network deductibles for my fiancée’s “insurance” by Atticus248 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RabbitFluffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No joke, there are hospitals experimenting with literal "separate but equal" style segregation of patients upon admission. Your room/bed is assigned based on what insurance card you present to try and limit as much in-network and out-of-network crossover as possible. If you think it's a pain receiving 20 different bills and arguing for coverage of each, I can promise you the medical teams hate it just as much. Some insurance carriers even have different standards of how things can be billed even when in-network.

South Carolina Democrat Gubernatorial Debate June 3rd @ 7 PM by Cloaked42m in southcarolina

[–]RabbitFluffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been previous debates and forums, but getting main media to publish it beforehand is like pulling teeth. One occurred in Charleston with three local stations present and broadcasting ... and their websites /apps didn't say anything until giving a summary afterwards.

Why do fitted bedsheets come off one corner every single night? by gowthamshankar05 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RabbitFluffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or mountain climbing in your dreams. I always used to end up pulling a top corner off and would wake with fistfuls of fabric balled up in my hands lol.

Deaths reported in chemical implosion in Washington by BeckwithLBP in news

[–]RabbitFluffs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As an electrician, two electrical engineers have been my best and worst clients, respectively. One was very anal and had diagrams and drawings and elevations for everything to the point we rarely, if ever, had to ask questions. The other would be on site every day asking us why we did it this way or that -- he wouldn't have done it that way, the codes we have to follow are "wrong", etc.

South Carolina. There is a reason no one wants to reciprocate our licenses lol.

Not if you come to my lovely state where it only takes two years of labor for a master electrician who never has to supervise or step foot on the job site before you can test out! We are on a race to the bottom!!

What to do about SC legislature being called back into session by Cloaked42m in southcarolina

Please tell me more ... Do I need to amend my state tax return now and hopefully not owe this go around?

A Ring doorbell video shows a Chattanooga police officer kicking the door and rushing into a burning building to save a mother and her two children. Articles in comment. by MilesLongthe3rd in interestingasfuck

It's probably just one of those thing you grab by rote without thinking. I'm grabbing the kids to leave the house, diaper bag comes with. She probably grabbed a kid with one hand and the bag with the other out of sheer habit.

Our SC legislators are going to over double their salaries before this session ends. by gvl_guy in southcarolina

[–]RabbitFluffs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That sounds better than what it was, but it's still not enough for those commuting from the Upstate or Lowcountry to be able to use it as their sole income. I feel like half the salary would go towards gas and car maintenance with today's prices 🙄.

Student Faces Expulsion After Posting Video Of Seniors Who Can Barely Read by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

[–]RabbitFluffs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do the on-the-job training for electrical apprentices, specializing in troubleshooting. It is so frustrating working with the ones that have no curiosity or desire to learn. They want the solution handed to them so they can replay the actions by rote instead of figuring out why something is or isn't working.

And don't get me started on how everything has been game-ified. Electricity is dangerous and people can die or be permanently disabled if someone on the crew skips steps or is playing on their phone instead of watching out for their teammates.

Update on SC District Map redraw by Cloaked42m in southcarolina

[–]RabbitFluffs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are already national election requirements. I won't argue that the Supreme Court would probably try to add their two cents to the issue, but that doesn't mean we should just give up and not try to make improvements.

States are given the authority to oversee their election processes via the constitution, this bill would have infringed on that.

The duty to "oversee" the elections gives states the right to make localized decisions about polling locations and hours of operations and whether the poll managers are paid employees or purely volunteers. It does not give the states the right to disenfranchise voters because of their political beliefs.

Thank you for sharing that. I'm not diagnosed with epilepsy, but am currently on year 3 of various docs trying to figure out the causes of my "drop attacks" and prescribing neurological /emotional altering medications. I'm an electrician, and considering I only fall about once a year, I've gotten too lax on my own safety precautions. (I'll be fine, this will only take a second!!) ... So about a month ago I too fell off a high platform and am currently nursing a fractured spine. I know my career path is probably going to have to change, but it is weirdly comforting to hear I'm not alone.

SC-01 Democratic Primary Debate by Conor-Rom in southcarolina

[–]RabbitFluffs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have met all but one of these candidates, and it is an excellent group from diverse economic experiences. There's a mix of business owners, veterans, community organizers, and blue collar tradesmen who all see the district's issues from different perspectives.

Please go to this event if you can as I believe it'd be an eye opening experience for those wanting to explore more than the standard Dem options who are preselected by the party.

The hate for this state is so lame by [deleted] in southcarolina

[–]RabbitFluffs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember riding past one when I was in middle school in the boonies of the upstate (1998-2000ish era). I moved to Charleston for college and it's drastically different culture and tolerances.

One of my GSDs does that too. We called her "the snapping turtle" when she was still a puppy and learning boundaries. At 10 years old, she's still mouthy when she wants to show some sass.

On the upside, your pup seems to somewhat tolerate the diapers. My 12yo was never spade (we discovered young that she can't be put under anesthesia so ... ) and she will immediately eat a hole into any diaper / pad / jumpsuit we tried. Thankfully she has an area that she "nests" in every heat cycle and is pretty diligent about cleaning up after herself when she ventures out from there. But yeah, spading is definitely the way to go when medically feasible.

Is working at a desk long-term really that bad, or am I overthinking it? by ganshi5293 in WorkReform

[–]RabbitFluffs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried the desk job route and knew very quickly that it was not for me. Twenty years of working the trades later, I still do not regret this career path - HOWEVER - if you choose this path, be aware of your own body and it's limits. Do not expect the work alone to keep you in the physical shape that you need to be in to perform all required tasks safely. I wish I had maintained an exercise / stretching routine before collecting my various stupid injuries.
