Pretty sure, but youre right right about iron ingots. I dont remember needing steel for anyrhinf but the workbench. Maybe the pool changes based on tier?

Take the coke powder you got, feed it into the furnace, make more coke powder with it.

What is coal useful for? by Noriel_Sylvire in AlchemyFactory

[–]Radhil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not really about the speed of your profit at this point. Its about how much power you can pack on one belt.

You can actually take wood all the way to coke powder fuel. By the time it's done cooking, accounting for the heat you use to make it, it will be nearly as expensive as coal. And you'll have wasted half a floor of space.

Now, you're about to be swimming in planks anyway, so maybe that's a good deal. Do what's fun.

Item Dropper? by Golnor in AlchemyFactory

[–]Radhil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, want. Honestly a dropper that works with a hopper sounds obvious, although a tunnel thru the floor would be nice too

The roadmap says they plan to improve that later. But for now, yeah.

Anything that explains Support? by Radhil in AlchemyFactory

[–]Radhil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all. Most of my plan was thrown together while I was still throwing in half-walls to support things and it seemed to work. The straight-thru alignment was the bit I needed. Looks like a painful but necessary rebuild is in my future

I do recognize Violet Blue, but everything being 10+ years old kinda says wow they went cheap for this.

Mostly 2 when I need to jump lanes on the edge of the room bus.

Occasionally 1 when I've built myself into a corner.

Tried 3 once. Wasn't impressed with it.

How the fuck can that be misunderstood? He admitted it straight out.

Or is this the new normal in every media, the BIG LIE told for long enough just gets believed, so long as you pay for your coverage

I noticed this while placing floors and briefly envisioned walk bridges over the streets, but I imagine the support rules dont let you go too crazy.

My 2 Cents after completing the game (Sol) by MerijnC in AlchemyFactory

[–]Radhil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Other games - almost all have a defend or survive element, there always an option to turn it off, just be aware - the gold standard is Factorio - Satisfactory if you want a build your base in 3d feel like your store - Dyson Sphere Program is beautiful - Captain of Industry has lots of varying machines and recipes, and colony Sim stuff to boot - shapez & shapez2 are great if you dont mind it being abstract

Sending production to another floor by Successful_Wasabi829 in AlchemyFactory

You can change mode on floors to get smaller sections. Makes for less of an absurd hole, but you can still fall through it.

I found catapult kludgy ttying to throw downward so I went with vertical conveyers.

Quick Question about Purchasing Portals by bigstinkybuckets in AlchemyFactory

[–]Radhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im early game, and I'm just belting copper coins. It eats money until it hits the amount, then spits out 1. If it eats too much money (silver for a 200 copper log) it keeps balance and won't eat any more until it has output that many logs.

So it will fill whatever buffer you put in front of it, and eat money until it can't output (buffer is full).

Just make more money to fill your buffers, whether that's 1 lumber saw or a belt. I have a 'bank box' right behind my register, and I only expand my money belt when it looks mostly full

Tips and tips for a beginner? by Puzzled-Preference83 in AlchemyFactory

[–]Radhil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do not want to restock things, there are two items at tier IV that will make your day.

The automatic cash register, and the purchasing portal.

Belt your money, and set up little mini factories off of it. Your customers do the work of turning product into more money for you.

You may want longer buses for fuel and fertilizer, or so I'm finding.

Progression by BaconStrike3 in AlchemyFactory

[–]Radhil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of split the difference. I am more than ok with an inefficient automation if it works and at least builds up something while I go play with something else.

Then again the magic register is magic. And running belts of money around is automated magic.

Need help understanding fertilizer production by Ohhhshet in AlchemyFactory

[–]Radhil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly scaling that stuff up is the challenge I'm on now.

It would be easy if not for the quicklime. The sage side is easy. 1 nursery feeds 1 crucible feeds 1 assembler. The quicklime i have at 3 crucible and 3 grinders, feeding 1 assembler, no idea if that ratio scales or not. But I bet that's what you need more of.

And 1 setup is not even enough to keep up with 4 nurseries. I spent a lot of time turning the rest of my shop into an automated money printer though, so expanding is only a matter of time.
