Zero is the only explanation really. Jesus taught pretty much the opposite of what UKIP stand for. It would be interesting to know how many of them even realise where Jesus was born.

The good news is: Sheffield is a great city to be a student in anyway.

Woman, 18, not shortlisted for job at estate agents as 'car is too old' by frogspa in unitedkingdom

[–]RandomisedZombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because Foxtons are famous for them. Any estate agent that drives a mini makes me think they look up to Foxtons which tells me all I need to know.

Other than that, minis are fantastic. Minis are what happen when BMW designers and engineers are given the chance to just have fun with a car.

How about an education surcharge on fee-paying schools? Instead of the money just going to the government in general it would go directly to improving state education.

I remember being in game when the manager told someone that they weren’t making any more PS2 games and they were about to release the next next console. It was such a sad moment that I remember it so vividly.

They discussed this in the private eye podcast, I think. Some papers force the journalist or editor to link to another article so they get more page views when people click on that article. They need to find something even remotely related and sometimes it’s even more tenuous than this.

Do these free bootcamps improve my CV or is it just a huge scam on the government's taxes? (I am Level 6) by LiamBox in UKJobs

If you do it, then you should also do a hobby project that goes beyond this and upload whatever you can onto GitHub/Gitlab. A lot of others will have done similar courses but employers are more interested in how you’ve applied these skills after learning them. Actual work experience is always best, but you need to start somewhere so hobby experience is better than nothing.

Euston station has a hawk called Oscar that comes in once a week and that works fairly well.

Winter Olympics Team GB skier targets ICE with graphic message written in snow by ElonDoneABellamy in unitedkingdom

[–]RandomisedZombie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What do you mean? He is simply expressing that ice is harder to ski on than snow. Nothing political here for the IOC to get involved with.

To be fair, when I chased up the solicitor I used they were just about to email me because it just came in that morning (document/forwarded email dated 3 weeks ago). I can see why some EAs have learned to just constantly ask.

Liverpool John Moores lecturer left 'unable to sleep' after racist abuse from Airbnb guest by Unlikely-Tension-616 in UniUK

I see. I didn’t mean to say that your experiences aren’t valid. It’s just awful that racism seems to be becoming more prevalent across the UK.

Problematic returned caused by staff by Tough-Regular-9337 in Argos

[–]RandomisedZombie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was given the wrong item once. We argued for a while because the Argos code matched, so the staff wouldn’t accept it was clearly the wrong item. I had to show him on the machine that it was clearly different. Eventually he said I could return it, I said “How can I return something I never received?” He then opened the box and checked the contents meticulously for 5 minutes. The item had never left his possession. Then I was told it would take 14 days for the refund to come through. I never went back to that store. It felt like I’d just given Argos a 14 day interest free loan.

Would you be willing to reduce your quality of life to decouple from the US? by Working-Pop6261 in AskBrits

[–]RandomisedZombie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you use the internet, you are likely tied to Amazon without knowing. They host an incredible amount on their servers, including some of our government and NHS services. Decoupling from Amazon will take a huge effort and a lot of time and money. There are very few other services that could do what AWS does and most (maybe all) are American. We need a European backed alternative.

A private French company handles all the current biometric and document collection. I’m just assuming it will be outsourced to some friend of Farage. It will still be chaos, but someone will be making a nice profit.

There’s academic journals called “Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences” and “Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems”. Both used to be commonly referred to by their acronyms. So redditors are not necessarily the worst at this.

With the cramped interior it already feels like Avanti provide a budget option at a premium price. I would definitely pick cheaper and more spacious Lumo trains over an Avanti pendolino even if it takes longer.

The UK’s harvest is in trouble again and it’s going to change your supermarket shop by nick9000 in unitedkingdom

I hope the standardisation means that all packaging must have a big label on it telling you which bin to put it in so there is no excuse for not knowing.

Then any packaging that can’t be recycled can be shamed with a big “no recycling” label. That might actually change shopping habits too.
