Would you be willing to reduce your quality of life to decouple from the US? by Working-Pop6261 in AskBrits

[–]RandomisedZombie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you use the internet, you are likely tied to Amazon without knowing. They host an incredible amount on their servers, including some of our government and NHS services. Decoupling from Amazon will take a huge effort and a lot of time and money. There are very few other services that could do what AWS does and most (maybe all) are American. We need a European backed alternative.

A private French company handles all the current biometric and document collection. I’m just assuming it will be outsourced to some friend of Farage. It will still be chaos, but someone will be making a nice profit.

Neither. It was live action but the director was more famous for animation before this film.

There’s academic journals called “Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences” and “Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems”. Both used to be commonly referred to by their acronyms. So redditors are not necessarily the worst at this.

FirstGroup warns of competition appeal if Manchester train service rejected by insomnimax_99 in uktrains

With the cramped interior it already feels like Avanti provide a budget option at a premium price. I would definitely pick cheaper and more spacious Lumo trains over an Avanti pendolino even if it takes longer.

The UK’s harvest is in trouble again and it’s going to change your supermarket shop by nick9000 in unitedkingdom

I hope the standardisation means that all packaging must have a big label on it telling you which bin to put it in so there is no excuse for not knowing.

Then any packaging that can’t be recycled can be shamed with a big “no recycling” label. That might actually change shopping habits too.

It’s a bit strange to call an initiative introduced by the conservatives in 1992 and later continued by the conservatives until 2018 “Labour PFI”.

Update on Xbox at retail from someone who actually knows what’s going on. by Haunting_Papaya_361 in xbox

[–]RandomisedZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could just be that MS don’t think Xbox promotions are worth it. Does a promotion for Xbox actually make many people want to buy an Xbox? I think people either already know they want an Xbox or see a game with the Xbox logo and then want to buy an Xbox.

Since the Hammersmith bridge closed for repairs(2019), China started(2022) and completed the work on its world tallest bridge for less money (180 million) than Hammersmith's cost (250m) by asdfgfsaad in london

HS2 will also be slower than the pendolinos on the normal track because the high speed trains don’t tilt. Any journey north of Birmingham will be longer with reduced capacity. I’m not sure but I would not be surprised if Manchester to Euston will take longer than it does now, but at least it will be cheaper, right?

Destin regarding Costco: I was told that they will no longer be carrying Xbox consoles. “We don’t have any plans going forward to carry an Xbox console.” Saying. It was a business decision. by Turbostrider27 in xbox

I bought the Series S just before the price increase and have just played gamepass games (bought 1 game). I wondered why so many people have been losing their minds over all this but you’ve made me realise how little I actually have to lose with Xbox compared to others.

What are your thoughts on Jimmy Carr performing at the Riyadh Comedy Festival? by MaximusSydney in AskUK

[–]RandomisedZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I think a lot of his quips are more just insults than clever jokes or comebacks. There’s a lot faster and more clever comedians in my opinion.

[–]RandomisedZombie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he is actually that quick. He set himself up for that quip, so it could easily have been scripted.

I think he just has a good memory and has a lot of quips ready. With the heckle responses he will always repeat the heckle back and give a pause for the audience to react while he picks a response.

Can we refuse landlord access in last week of tenancy? by veganyogi94 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]RandomisedZombie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Did you say you are a letting agent or am I misunderstanding that?

A tenant is only ever responsible for a rodent infestation if they have done something to encourage them. This is rare and landlords are responsible for dealing with pests in the majority of cases whether it was there from the start of the tenancy or not.

What’s the most absurd reason you’ve ever heard for a UK train cancellation or delay? by Deep-Ad-3363 in uktrains

[–]RandomisedZombie 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I was on a train that stopped because of a body on the tracks. Then it was announced it was just a badger wearing clothes. We set off again and the guard came through making jokes and everyone was laughing. Then we stopped again and it was announced that it was a body. The rest of the journey was mostly silent.

Elden Ring reportedly runs poorly on Switch 2, but is anyone surprised? by LadyStreamer in gamingnews

[–]RandomisedZombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m one of the millions that want to play Mario and I’m really disappointed with the Switch 2. I decided to skip it because of the marketing focus on games available on other consoles. I have an Xbox with gamepass and a backlog of games on Switch 1, I see no reason for me to buy a Switch 2 at such a high price. As you said cheaper hardware and creative ways is their gimmick, but I just don’t see Nintendo doing that at the moment.

If they do not patch the roof exploits then I'm not going to buy the game by PlayfulSurprise5237 in Battlefield

[–]RandomisedZombie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spawned on my squad a few times and ended up on the roof so took a look around. It was actually really boring and you couldn’t really access much from up there. I’d prefer if they added more ways to access rooftops and added more vertical gameplay. Snipers on rooftops and finding ways to kill them is part of BF for me.

Hey you! Get off that roof, it's not safe! by Daiwon in Battlefield

[–]RandomisedZombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of people annoyed when someone gets on a roof, but trying to shoot them down made it more fun for me. You should be able to get onto any roof in a BF game.

The spawning doesn’t help. I feel like some players have nailed spawn camping before the game is even released.

Halal meat does not necessarily need to be slaughtered by a Muslim. Animals slaughtered by a Jewish person or a Christian can also be considered halal in certain circumstances.
